The 1983-84 Warriors include, front row, left to right, Rick Tote, Tony Kramer, Sean Adams, Roger Pittard,
back row, Jack Reese, Ray Tomasko, Mike Duplan, Brent Hunt, Casey Villacana, Chuck Woods, and Jason Swartz.


Warriors Finish 3rd In DIL South Play
Brent Hunt and Casey Villacana Named Co-MVP's

After a four-year absence, veteran boy's basketball coach Bill Carll, returned to lead the 1983-84 Warrior program.
Tehachapi had a successful winning season going 6-4 in DIL play, but could not defend their back-to-back DIL titles of 1982 and 1983.

For the season, the Warriors finished at 12-9, marking the twelfth time in thirteen years Tehachapi had an overall season winning record

While the 1983-84 Warriors featured a senior heavy team, Tehachapi only had one experienced returnee in small forward Ray Tomasko (6'0").

The Warriors were 4-5 in pre-league play, highlighted by the participation in two tournaments. In the annual Rosamond Tournament,
Tehachapi finished in 2nd place, defeating the Antelope Valley JV's and Desert. The Warriors lost in the finals though to El Segundo.
Center Brent Hunt (6'4") and forward Casey Villacana (6'2") were named to the All-Tournament team.

In the annual Kern County Tournament in Bakersfield, the Warriors went 1-2, finishing in sixth place.

After winning three straight games in league play, the Warriors lost three straight, and could never recover.
The Warriors finished 6-4 in DIL South play finishing behind league champion Paraclete and runner-up Desert.
The Warriors most impressive win of the season was a victory over Paraclete.

Bishop won the DIL North Division and advanced to the CIF post-season playoffs as the top seed from the DIL. The Warriors played Bishop
twice during the season in non-league games, splitting the two contests. The Warriors soundly defeating the Broncos in Tehachapi, 44-24.

For their outstanding play throughout the season, seniors Hunt and Villacana were named the Co-MVP's of the team by the Warrior coaching staff.
