As I've become more and more familiar with
using the Internet, I've come to appreciate
the "back button" tremendously. Countless
times, as I browsed various websites and the
links within them, have I gotten myself
"lost" in cyberspace, with no sense of
direction, as to how to get back on the path
in which I was originally traveling. Thank
God (and whoever created this ingenius
feature) for the "back button"!
It still amazes me at how you can travel so
deep within tons of information from just one
place; and even more so, that you can
eventually get back to that place again, just
by clicking the "back button" several times,
as needed.
As I was thinking about this the other day,
it occurred to me how great it would be if
we, as human beings, all had "back buttons",
that when pushed, would take us back to the
various areas and phases of our lives. Think
about it...
Wouldn't it be wonderful to retrace your
steps (in the opposite direction) and reach
any desired point in your life? You could go
back and spend that extra time with loved
ones who may have since passed on. You could
visit with dear friends and family members,
and let them know how much they mean to you,
and be genuinely grateful for the happy
moments of yesteryear. You could even go as
far back as your early childhood, if you
wanted, and appreciate the innocence of your
youth.
Or perhaps you, like me, would focus on those
certain areas throughout your life, in which
you made devastating mistakes... AND EDIT
THEM. It would take quite a while to "un-do"
all the wrongs of my life, and there would be
many paths not taken, the second time around.
If only...
Well, although we don't have such a "back
button" to take us through the previous pages
of our lives, to make right the things that
we've done wrong, we do have something that
can wipe away all our mistakes, washing them
away forever, cleansing us and making us
whole. And that is the precious blood of
Jesus; blood that He shed that day as He
died on the cross in our place. He paid the
price for our sins... what a wonderful
Saviour is He!
"Being justified freely by His grace
through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a
propitiation through faith in His blood, to
declare his righteousness for the remission
of sins that are past, through the
forbearance of God."
Romans 3:24,25
