Now That You Are A Christian

After you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart,
there are things you can (and must) do, to draw
closer to Him. You should:

Pray Regularly, giving thanks to God, for your salvation and for the blessings you receive every day. Talk to Him as you would your closest friend, for He truly IS the best friend you'll ever have.

Read Your Bible, and hear what God has to say to you. Use it as it was meant, to be a guide. No matter what you face (good or bad), help can be found in God's Word.

Be A Witness for Him, telling everyone you meet of His love, His Word, and His plan of salvation. You must also demonstrate your new faith by your conduct. Your habits and lifestyle should reflect the change within you, and should commend the Lord, and help draw others to Him.

Be Baptized in obedience to God's Word, which symbolizes our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ. Only one form of baptism was ever mentioned in the Bible, and that is by "complete immersion" of the body under water. You should be baptized as soon as possible, after being saved, as this depicts the "death and burial" of who we were before coming to Christ, and the "resurrection" of the new life to be lived for the Lord.

Attend Church Faithfully, as this is also mentioned in the Bible. It is important for Christians to have fellowship with one another in the House of the Lord for spiritual support, for instruction, to grow in Christ through service, and for many other reasons. Make sure you find a good Bible-believing church, and when you see that it is, join it and become a member of a close Christian family.

Begin Tithing, which is giving a tenth (atleast) of what you earn back to the Lord. He blesses us in so many ways; yet, all He asks of us in return is a tenth of our income. (WHAT A BARGAIN!) This money is then used for church expenses and upkeep, pastoral wages, and supporting missionaries.

Be Christ-like in all that you do... by learning to say "no" to temptation; by living a clean, honest life; and by separating yourself from the people and things of this world that are not pleasing to God.

Serve Him according to His calling, in addition to all the ways listed above. If you have a special talent or skill, put it to work for the Lord. He will richly bless you for whatever you do in His name, no matter how great or small the task. Be willing to serve Him in as many ways as possible.
