COLONEL JACK O'NEILL
Richard Dean Anderson (series)
Appearances: All episodes, Stargate: The Movie

O'Neill is the commanding officer of SG-1. He likes anyone with a sense of humor, and uses his own brand of humor whenever impossible ("Lucy, I'm home!"). He loves being on missions that give him something to do, which is action, and most of the time he can't understand the technobabble that comes out of Major Carter's or Daniel's mouth. His side hobbies are fishing and astonomy. Although he claims not to be very smart, he has been right on many occasions, much to his surprise ("I was right?"). He is loyal to his team and has a policy of never leaving anyone behind.

MAJOR SAMANTHA CARTER
Amanda Tapping
Appearances: All episodes

Carter is a scientist and a member of SG-1. She is one of the smartest people the SGC has ("She beat me out of a position in the SGC" - scientist in 'Shades of Grey'). She was working at the Pentagon when she got reassigned to SG-1 under Col. O'Neill's command. Back then, she was a captain. In "Fair Game," she was promoted to Major because the Air Force felt she had done things far exceeding the role of Captain. Carter tends to have trouble expressing her emotions, because she is afraid that they'll make her seem like less of a soldier. She follows regulations as often as possible, but has been known to bend them for a good cause.

DOCTOR DANIEL JACKSON
Michael Shanks (series)
Appearances: All episodes, Stargate: The Movie

Daniel decoded the first set of Stargate coordinates, and went through the gate on the first mission to the planet of Abydos. He is a linguist, and is one of the best in the field. His career was based on the theory that the pyramids were built by aliens. His theory was rejected by almost everyone in the field until Kathryn Langford, who was the head of the Stargate project at the time, recruited him. He can learn new languages quickly and his knowledge of Ancient cultures has helped SG-1 on several missions because the people they meet are desendants of those ancient cultures. He married Sha're on Abydos and stayed there for a year until Apophis captured her. He then joined the SGC and SG-1 to search for her and bring her back to Abydos. When Sha're died, Daniel resigned from the SGC ("Everytime we stepped through that Gate, I'd think that maybe this is the one, that I'd find her on this or that plant. Now that hope is gone. I joined the SGC to find my wife. Now I've found her. I can't go throught the Stargate again, 'cause now it'll just be another planet. I hope you understand that"). Later on, he joined the program again to find Amonet's and Apophis's child, the Harseses.

TEAL'C
Christopher Judge

Appearances: all episodes

Teal'c grew up on Chulak, a planet controlled by Apophis. He began to doubt his supposedly omnipotent God as he got older. Bra'tac, his teacher, encouraged him to doubt Apophis. When Teal'c became the Goa'uld's Jaffa First Prime, he began to work behind Apophis' back. He helped others without Apophis suspecting a thing. When there was a danger that Apophis would find out about Teal'c's inner doubts, Teal'c did what he had to do to stay in the false god's favor. When SG-1 was captured by Apophis' jaffa, and Apophis gave Teal'c the order to kill them all, Teal'c made a quick decision. He decided to help SG-1 escape, sealing his fate as a traitor. After a bad start, he was a welcome member of SG-1. For four years, Teal'c was the only alien on any SG team. He was a hardened warrior long before he met any of the Tau'ri, and is usually very stoic. He does have feelings, they're just harder to notice than with most. He also has had a hard time understanding many common American sayings and phrases, but he has learned to adjust.

JONAS QUINN
Corin Nemec

Appearances: Meridian, all of season six

Jonas is an alien like Teal'c. He comes from a world that is split into three central governments. His home nation was known as Colonna, and that was the country that had the Stargate. Jonas became a traitor when he smuggled some naquadria, a mineral that is based on naquada, through the Stargate to the SGC. He became a member of SG-1 several months after Daniel Jackson's death, and has tried to prove himself several times since then. In the seventh episode of season six, Jack has only begun to trust him. Jonas is a quicker study than his human friends - he can learn much faster than they can, and spent the three months prior to joining SG-1 learning as much about Earth as he could. He's a nice guy who smiles often whenever he's nervous, trying to lighten the mood, or is enjoying himself. Although he will never be Daniel, he is trying his best to fill the human archeologist's role.

MAJOR GENERAL GEORGE HAMMOND
Don S. Davis
Appearances: All episodes

Hammond is the commanding officer of Stargate Command. He does not like leaving anyone behind, just like Jack. He rarely goes on Stargate missions. The only times he's ever been through the gate is in "Prisoners" and "Into the Fire," and that was when his help was needed to rescue SG-1 ("The things I do for these people"). Everyone on the base respects him. He has two granddaughters, and he would do everything to protect them, even retire to be with them all the time, which is shown in "Chain Reaction." He also has plenty of friends in high places that he can call if he wants them to repay some debts.

DOCTOR JANET FRASIER
Teryl Rothery
Appearances: over half

Janet is the medical head at the SGC. She is good at what she does, and will pull rank whenever she has to ("Who put her in charge?" - Jack O'Neill, 'Entity'"). She takes care of all her patients, no matter who or what they are. She and Sam are close friends because of Cassandra, an alien refugee whom Janet adopted.

COLONEL HARRY MAYBOURNE
Tom McBeath
Appearances: "Enigma," "Bane," "Touchstone," "Foothold," "Shades of Grey," "Chain Reaction," "Desperate Measures," "48 Hours"

Maybourne is very arrangant and too overconfindent. No one at the SGC likes him because he always wants to take alien entities back to NID headquarters for study. He is confident only as long as he has the upperhand - he'd never survive in a fair fight. He also ran a renegade group that stole advanced technology from other races before Col. O'Neill and General Hammond found out about it. Later on, the colonel seems to grow a backbone when he escapes from prison and has to stay out of the NID's clutches. The backbone is evident earlier on, but not always.

GENERAL JACOB CARTER
Carmen Argenzian
Appearances: "Secrets," "The Tok'ra, Parts I and II," "Serpent's Song," "Show and Tell," "Seth," "Jolinar's Memories," "The Devil You Know," "Crossroads," "Tangent," "The Serpent's Venom," "Exodus," "Enemies," "The Summit," "Last Stand," "Meridian," "Descent"

Jacob is Samantha Carter's father. In "Secrets," it is revealed that he is terminally ill with cancer. Unaware that his daughter has already been to space, he wants Sam to join NASA so she can live out her dreams. When she turns him down, he leaves, disappointed. Later on, SG-1 meets the Tok'ra. Sam tells Jacob all about the Stargate Program and the Tok'ra. She wants him to blend with a Tok'ra symbiote, Selmak, so that he would live. After thinking about it, he does. After blending, Selmak healed his body. Jacob and Selmak now live with the Tok'ra and help fight the war against the Goa'uld. They occasionally come to Earth for visits with Sam and with Jacob's son, Mark. Jacob is a private man when it comes to his own problems, and has helped SG-1 out on many occasions.

KATHERINE LANGFORD
Elizabeth Hoffman (Torment of Tantalus, There But For the Grace of God); Glynis Davies (1969)

Appearances: "The Torment of Tantallus," "There But For the Grace of God" Stargate: The Movie, "1969"

Katherine was a child at the dig in Giza when they uncovered the Stargate. Later on, in the later sixties, she started her own research into what the Stargate was. In 1996, she recruited Daniel Jackson to help them, and it turned out to be the smartest move because he decoded it in only two weeks.

MAJOR PAUL DAVIS
Colin Cunningham
Appearances: "Within the Serpent's Grasp," "The Serpent's Lair," "Into the Fire," "Foothold," "Nemesis," "Small Victories," "Tangent," "Fail Safe," "Redemption Parts I and II," "Descent"

Davis acts as a liason between the SGC and the Pentagon. He seems to be a nice guy who spends all his time off the Cheyenne Mountain Complex reading about the Stargate program. He goes to the mountain during times of national or planetary crisis, when immediate communication with the Pentagon is necessary.

MAJOR SAMUELS
Robert Wisden
Appearances: "Children of the Gods," "Politics," "Within the Serpent's Grasp," "The Serpent's Lair"

Major Samuels looks a lot like Col. Mayborne in my opinion. He was very confident that a missile would take out the Goa'uld invasion ship that was about to attack Earth. When that failed, he wanted to go to the Alpha Site, but Gen. Hammond told him they were only sending their best and brightest citizens.

COLONEL MAKEPEACE
Steve Makaj
Appearances: "Into the Fire," "Shades of Grey"

Makepeace was the commander of several SG teams. He didn't seem to be that bad, but if someone was lost in a battle, even if there was a chance that they could be saved, Makepeace thought of them as casualties and would leave without them. In "Shades of Gray," it was revealed that he was a spy for Maybourne's renegade group of thieves.

MAJOR CHARLES KAWALSKI
Jay Acovone
Appearances: "Children of the Gods," "The Enemy Within," "The Gatekeeper," Stargate: The Movie

Kawalski was one of the few people who came back from the first Stargate mission. He went to Chulak with Jack, Daniel, and Sam. Before they went back through the Gate to Earth, a Goa'uld symbiote left its pouch in a Jaffa and entered through the back of Kawalski's neck, but no one realized it until a few days later. When they did, they tried to get the Goa'uld out with surgery, but the parasite tricked them. Jack was forced to kill him, loosing yet another friend.

SENATOR KINSEY
Ronny Cox
Appearances: "Politics," Stargate SG-1: The Fifth Ammendment, "Chain Reaction," "2010," "2001"

Kinsey wanted to shut down the Stargate program. He was convinced that the Stargate was like Pandora's Box, and that they should close it before it was too late, only it already was. He was confident that they could defend themselves against a Goa'uld invasion without using the Gate. Despite being proven wrong, he still wants to shut it down, only he hasn't succeeded in doing that so far. He's religious, and he turns to scripture whenever he makes an argument to get what he wants using his power as Senator. In "2010," he helped to negotiate a treaty with the Aschen, winning enough votes to become President in the year 2010. Because history was changed, however, it is uncertain whether he will be president in the fixed timeline, although he did prevent O'Neill from visiting the president in "2001."

DOCTOR ROBERT ROTHMAN
Jason Schombing
Appearances: "Forever in a Day," "Chrystal Skull," "The First Ones"

Robert was Daniel Jackson's student once upon a time. He was recruited temporarily to SG-1 when Daniel left the program. After Daniel rejoined, Robert continued to work in the SGC's archeology department. He is good at telling how a fossilized skeleton become dead in the first place, but has trouble judging people who are still alive. He also has quite a lot of allergy problems. In "The First Ones," he is taken over by a Goa'uld and shot by Teal'c.

LT. JENNIFER HAILEY
Elisabeth Rosen
Appearances: "Prodigy," "Proving Ground"

LT. ELLIOT
Courtney J. Stevens
Appearances: "Proving Ground," "Summit," "Last Stand"
