This igneous rock contains fairly large amounts of quartz, mica, and feldspar. This rock also contains small amounts of biotite and muscovite. I know that this has feldspar, because it leaves a white streak when scratched upon something above a Mohs-7. This rock can scratch glass but can be scratched by a steel file. That makes it a Mohs-6-7. Granite is formed deep in the earth by cooling magma. Slowly cooling magma is what creates all the minerals found in granite. Feldspar is what gives the granite most of its color which could be white, light grey, yellow, or even pink.
