Early days. Parents: Lech and Magdalena. When she was only one year old her parents split up and Izabella came to live with her mother. In 1978 the two moved to Bredäng in Stockholm, Sweden. Coming to Sweden as an 8 year old, she learned to speak Swedish and English, in addition to her native Polish. She studied drama and music and, at 17, was discovered by a Swedish film director Staffan Hildebrand who cast her in the movie Ingen kan älska som vi (1988), which made her a local teenage idol. She then became a successful model in Sweden and throughout Europe, where she made good use of her fluency in several languages.
Career. In 1989, Scorupco displayed another facet of her talents, launching her career as a pop singer with her first single, Substitute. The single and subsequent album, IZA, both went gold, and she followed with another hit single, Shame, which she recorded in 1991. Returning to acting in 1994, she immediately won the lead role in the Swedish film Petri tårar (1995). Scorupco stars as a woman who lives her life as a man in the medieval drama, which was released in August 1995. Her first hit, in 1990, was not performed by her, but was in fact recorded by a ghost singer. She was offered the lead female role in L.A. Confidential (1997), but turned it down. The role went to Kim Basinger (Oscar winner). She was also offered the lead female role in The Mask of Zorro (1998), but turned it down. The role went to Catherine Zeta-Jones (Oscar winner).
Personal. She was married to Polish ice hockey player Mariusz Czerkawski from 1996 to 1998. They have one daughter together, Julia (born in 1997). On January 30, 2003 she married an American citizen Jeffrey Raymond. Together they have a son, Jacob (born in 2003).
