VI. STUDENT SERVICES

The College recognizes that the greatest responsibility for a student's growth lies in the student. To foster this growth, various resources are available to the student.

1. Spiritual Services

a. The Sacred Liturgy

The Sacred Liturgy especially the Eucharist Sacrifice of Christ's Body and Blood, is the means by which each student can show his/her love for God. As a CKCian, the Eucharist is the chief source and center of community Christian Living. Christ always summons each of us to offer our life in daily union with Him in the Eucharistic Sacrifice of the altar, and frequently meet Him by receiving His Body and Blood in the great Sacrament. For these purposes, masses are held. Visits to the Blessed sacrament and earnest preparation and thanksgiving for the Holy Communion are means to deepen our faith.

b. Reconciliation, Friendship with Christ

Because of God's love to for us, He has given us another cnahce to established union with Him by asking for His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We need this. Everytime we fervently express our sorrow for our sins, God not only forgives but also forgets our offenses against Himself. Frequenting this sacrament can be our source of growh in Christian Living.

c. Devotion in the Blessed Virgin Mary

Our Lady freely responding to God's invitation to be the Mother of His only beloved Son, has made possible the Incarnation of the Word. Therefore, out of gratitude, the CKCian is encouraged to cultivate devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

d. Other Religious Activities

To intensify the daily growth in Christian Living, a spiritual retreat is made each year for graduating students. Recollections are scheduled semestrally, while confessions, prayer sessions, faith sharing and bible services are periodically held.

 

2. GUIDANCE SERVICES

The Guidance Program is built around the premise that each individual is unique and must be given the maximum assistance to realize his/her potentials to the fullest. The goal of the Guidance Program is to assist the student achieve self-understanding, self-direction and self-development that will lead to his/her satisfaction and welfare.

In order to achieve these goals, the Guidance Program offers the following services:

a. Student Appraisal Services

To assist the student achieve self-understanding, self-direction and self-development, the Guidance Program makes a systematic and comprehensive study of its students, undertakes observations, administers updates individual inventory and anecdotal records. These are major tools and techniques used to gather data about the student.

b. Counselling Services

Counselling is the most important service offered to students. It is the heart of the Guidance Program. Through counselling, the student is helped to become more fully aware of himself/herself and his/her responses to the influences of his/her environment. It further assists him/her to established some persomal meanings for this behavior and values for making responsible response to the events and circumstances that come his/her way.

c. Information Services

The Guidance Program assists the students in his/her effort to gather a wide variety of information and make plans. It provides the students the information with respect to school policies and regulations, educational, vocational and social opportunities, availability of scholarships and other related information.

The Guidance Program also provides informational services and training to school staff and parents in order that they may meet the students' need.

3. HEALTH SERVICES

The clinic is open at usual office hours for students who wish to consult the Health Officer. All students are given a physical and dental exanimation once a semester. The College Physician and Dentist hold daily office hours at the appointed time in the clinic.

4. Food, School Supplies and Housing Services

The school maintains a canteen to meet the needs of the students.

A bookstore with school supplies is available within the school compound to serve the students.

CKC has a dormitory for lodgers. Wholesome social living is developed in a student.

 

SCHOLARSHIP and FINANCIAL AID

Students who show evidence of academic excellence but who are financially handicapped may apply foe Academic Excellence Scholarship to the Scholarship Committee managed / administered by the Administrative Council. Other financial assistance program in the form of campus employment is administered by the Office of the President.
