Design engineers in charge of the Intrepid-refit development were hard pressed for time, and turned to new bridge designs already in use in the newer ships. One in particular, derived from Project Archangel (the Tiberius-class battlecruiser), was known to be one of the more advanced bridge designs and was quickly adopted to be fitted onto the Intrepid.

The bridge's key component is the"After-Bridge" aft of the bridge area. The "after-bridge" houses multipurpose stations and a holographic display. The Holo-display can be linked into any visualization data to produce a 3-dimensional visual. The Mission OPS station takes up 2/3rds of the left wall and is configurable to handle duties specific to a particular mission. The Engineering wall station normally displays a master ship systems diagram, but can also be configured to control every aspect of the engine room.

One change from the original design was the addition of a Ship's Counselor position (SCN) left of the CO. The "Secondary Tactical" station is used in precipitated combat situations when an additional tactical officer on the bridge can split the burdens of targeting and weapons allocation.

The aft exit labeled "To Deck 2" takes an incline to enter deck 2 corridors. Accessible from there are the mess hall, arboretum, and the science labs.
