Miraina DilennRank: Ensign |
|
| Personal traits: Cute, although tall. She
could be described as pretty, but beautiful is a stretch. Her eyes are her best feature,
noticeable even across a room. She laughs a lot, and seems happy, unless one happens to
notice her on an off-moment, when she's staring off into space, biting her lip, thinking
about something sad. She doesn't look particularly muscular, but being a dancer,
particularly because D'Kal is a difficult and demanding style, she is fairly strong. In a
crowd, one probably wouldn't notice her. She tends to walk with her head down a little,
unless she thinks about it and deliberately looks straight ahead. She doesn't like eye
contact, but avoids making it noticeable. If she has anything stronger than synthehol, she
gets rather bouncy, high-pitched, and giggly. Personality: Artistic, intelligent, terribly funny, a little (only slightly) strange, eclectic, cheerful but short-tempered, laughs easily but takes work seriously, and understanding. Hobbies: Needlepoint and D'Kal (a Romulan folk dance) Place of birth: K'Ruhn Medical Center on Kigatar, the second moon of Runnaq, the eighth planet in the Galadd system, in Romulan space. Home planet: T'Layn, the fourth planet in the Galadd system, in Romulan space. Early Life: Miraina grew up on T'Layn with her father, a dance teacher, and mother, a Birydir (an artist who sculpts by singing to a particular form of technology, a Biryd, which was invented on Romulus in the thirteenth century). The fifth of six children, she always had siblings about. Due to her parents' influences, she had a major interest in dance and art. In 2370, when she was 17, Miraina met Salinn Irat Molud, a Jenchite woman, at an Ancient Dancing Competition on Runnaq, and they decided to try to get into Galla University on Rigel IV together. They were both accepted, and Salinn majored in 9th Century Romulan dancing, while Miraina studied comparative ancient dancing and Beta Quadrant history. In 2373, Salinn met a Starfleet Commander and decided she wanted to drop out of Galla and learn to be a starship captain. Deciding that Galla and her studies there weren't what she really wanted, Miraina joined Salinn on the transport to Earth. Somehow, they both got accepted, and Salinn went into the command track. Miraina hesitated between Medical/Psychology, and Archaeology and Anthropology Officer, but decided on Med/Psych. Academy Life: Miraina spent four years at the academy, from 2373 to 2377, training to be a doctor/counselor. It was fairly uneventful, although she got some minor good points on her record, and was caught in one piece of mischief with Salinn and Salinn's roommate, Diane Taylor, a human, involving the Psych teacher's pet wolfhounds and a lot of blue dye. Major Area of Study: Medical and Psychology Cadet Cruise: Away from Salinn for the first time in seven years, Miraina was more of her own person without her overbearing friend. She earned a commendation for assisting the Chief of Security in managing to feed to away team when they were trapped in the abandoned underground gardens of Moloot IX. Her knowledge of alien vegetables was crucial; without it, the Security Chief would have cooked a poisonous grass for the starving away team, probably killing them. Personal History: Miraina always had a lot of friends, but didn't date much, aside from one serious boyfriend, Ian MacLean, a human Shakespearean actor, on Rigel IV, whom she broke up with when Salinn told her that Ian was making romantic advances on her, and Ian's response to confrontation was that Salinn's soul spoke to his in a way Miraina's didn't, but of course they could still be friends. Family: Mother- Lierr Dilenn, a Birydir (defined previously) Father- Kaed Dilenn, a professional dance teacher Sibling(s)- Tareena, female, born 2345, 8 years older, a professional dancer, engaged to Yaynor Quel, a joined Trill, resides on Alpha Centauri. Jolet, female, born 2348, 5 years older, a technician in the merchant spacefleet, travels. Linni, female, born 2351, 2 years older, unemployed, the wife of Zodat Kulunid, a T'Lay politician, resides on T'Layn. Zorel, male, born 2352, 1 year older, an officer in the Romulan military, resides on Remus when he isn't aboard ship. and Krintos, male, born 2356, 3 years younger, studying geophysics at Galla University, resides with friends on Rigel IV. Partner- None Children- None People from The Past: -Salinn Irat Molud, a Jenchite woman, Miraina's best friend from Galla University and the Academy, overbearing, charismatic, pretty, and mischievous. She is now a lieutenant on the USS Williamsburg. -Ian MacLean, a human Shakespearean actor, Miraina's ex-boyfriend from Rigel IV. She hasn't been in touch with him since she left for the Academy. He's controlling, artistic, and unpredictable. -Zorel, Miraina's older brother, an officer in the Romulan military. As a child, he was quiet but threw horrible tantrums when ignored too long, as an adolescent, he rarely spoke, and when he did it was either nice, and often insightful, or sarcastic, often tending toward vicious. When Miraina or Linni (one of Miraina's sisters) managed to engage him in conversation he spoke of feeling unnoticed, not terribly important, and not destined for anything important, like his siblings. Although basically a decent person, the promise of power drew him to the Romulans. When offered a job aboard ship, he took it. For six years, he's been working his way up in the ranks. He resides on Remus when he isn't aboard ship. Additional Comments: Miraina spent her life around charismatic, sometimes controlling people, and she is both annoyed by those traits, and envious of them. She tends to be suspicious of anyone particularly attractive or confident, because of Ian MacLean. A literally scarring experience with a real campfire gave her a lifelong fear of fire, even though modern medical technology rid her of the scar. |
