| Personal Traits: Cold and hard visage, and
typically calm and collected – never known to break under tension or stress. Can
easily stifle fear and anxiety to regain control of sticky situations. Physically fit
however struggling with middle-age. Personality: Father-like persona. Extremely intelligent, quick thinking, and clever. Has learned to use smarter, more effective means at handling conflict on the large scale. Often turns to history as a guide, and often can be found spouting bits of wisdom or telling war stories of either his own origin, or from family tales passed on by the generations. Hobbies: Avid reader and seaman. He owns a small sailboat that he christened "Columbus". He sails at sparse moments when he is able to visit his earth home – a small shorefront beach house – or more recently, in a holodeck program of his boat and an open sea. His respect for history has also translated into a fondness of antiques. A keepsake of his is a 400 year-old silver pocket watch, which is often found on his Ready Room desk. Place of birth: Earth Early Life: His parents were both a part of Starfleet’s Peace Corps. At age 5, his parents left Earth with their two children, Andrew and Laura, to provide relief to the Khittomer victims. They were transported on an Oberth class vessel, on which Andrew used its computer libraries to access military history and tactical texts. His parents caught him in this study and grounded him for it. His rampant curiosity, however, would return him to similar Klingon texts. While at Khittomer, Andrew forms boyhood friendships with a few local Klingon children, which his parents fully encourage for its peaceful tone. One friend (Malek) saved him from nearly being beaten to death by an older Klingon "bully". Even though the relief effort had ended after a year, the family remained at Khittomer for several years. They returned to Earth just in time for Andrew to apply for Starfleet Academy, much to the displeasure of his peace-minded parents. His grandfather, Commodore Nathan Keating, fully supported it and even used his status to recommend him to the "Red Squad" of the Academy. (Red Squad is the group of the best of the best students in the command school.) Academy Life: Enters in the year 2354, at age 18. A very smart and brash student, he was quick to take risks and to use Klingon tactics he picked up as a child while living on Khittomer. He quickly gained experience and wisdom … In simulated combat competitions, he picked up a best friend by the name of Thaddeus Wreave. The two constantly competed at everything after that. Nearly every time, however, Andrew found a way to beat him. Graduates 2358 and pursues further education at Advanced Tactics School. Major Area of Study: Tactical Cadet Cruise: (Condensed Report) Served a year as Tactical Officer alongside Thaddeus aboard the USS Mallory in 2361. Hated every minute of it, especially his coward of a commanding officer, who avoided every instance of conflict and retreated from every danger. Achieved rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Despite their differences, his CO is reported to have "seen a bit of a leader in him." Service History: Chief of Tactical on USS El Rio from 2364-68. Promoted to rank of Lieutenant Commander, 2366. Served in covert operations in Klingon Civil War. Records classified. Distinguished performance rewarded with Captain’s ranks in December of ’68, as well as two Citations of Valor and a Decoration of Gallantry. Served in the Dominion War as CO of the USS Gale. Additional Comments: His mother, Jacqueline, and sister, Anne, died of an unknown affliction still under study by Starfleet medical. One of the research teams is lead by his other sister, Laura. Andrew is not very communicative with his family. Family: People from The Past: Thaddeus Harclerone – best friend/competitor from Academy, last known to have command of Excelsior-class USS Enderby. The two have distanced since sharing their first assignment together (cadet cruise). |
