Back to It's a GOOD Life Excerpts
PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING These rules apply to this script, "It's a GOOD Life".
When you order a script, you agree to follow these rules:DEFINITIONS
"Buyer": one person or a corporation or non-profit or for-profit institution, such as a specific theater, organization or school -- not a school region or chain of businesses, or a whole family.
"Performance": any performing of the play in front of people not in the class or club doing the performing. If you are not sure, please ask.
YOUR RIGHTS AND THIS AUTHOR'S RIGHTS
Paying of royalty gives buyer the right to:
--perform the play,
--and make photocopies for their actors' use.
You may use portions of the script in advertising the play.
You may videotape the performance for the actors' personal viewing, and you may play it on public access television or youtube.com if you include the author's and adapter's names on the title & listing, and notify this website.
You may NOT publish or sell the script. That is copyright violation.
You may NOT sell recordings to any families outside of the production. However, contact this website about making a deal.
ALTERING THE SCRIPT
Nearly all play authors require that you not change a word of their scripts. FunAntics is more flexible. You may change lines, add lines or delete lines if you are not changing the meaning of the script.
Changes you make in the script must be obvious, such as by writing them in by hand or in a different color, font or style, or writing "altered from original" on each page such as in a header or footer, or, if none of these, after last performance, destroying those altered scripts.
If changes are significant, you must say so in the attribution of the script in the program/announcement (for example, after the title and author, add: "adapted by [name of re-writer]".
Other examples: "Script shortened from original by _____." "Ending changed by _______."
or specify such as "Additional characters: Steve Morris and Jasper Elliot created by ______", "Discussion between Ethel and Dan Hollis about paint created by _____".
- Shortening it or simplifying it.
- Adding or subtracting or merging characters to fit cast size and actor types.
- Changing the gender of characters.
- Making it work in your performance space and its features.
- Tweaking a character's personality or the setting, date, time line.
- Adding songs, extra lines, extra bits that you think are improvements.
And since I've given you permission, I'd also love to hear what those changes/improvements are. I might ask if I can offer them in my script.
... and ALTERATIONS that are NOT ALLOWED
Changing the basic values, morals or lack of morals in the story or characters or changing the important points or events of the story. Please ask if some of the violence, and character flaws bother you. When in doubt, contact this website. We will probably approve your changes or offer to rewrite the section to suit your needs.
USING WITHOUT PAYING
If you violate the copyright by performing this script without paying royalties, you may be sued for damages plus discovery, collection and litigation costs. Prices on this website are kept very low so amateur theaters can afford them. Please pay the small amount asked.
