The Good Vehicon
Written by RAMPAGE
One night on Cybertropolis, Nightscream flapped passed the buildings.  No Vehicons were in sight that day.  That was good for him.  He was carrying a load of energon back to base.

Suddenly, a laser flew passed his head.  “What?” Nightscream croaked, dodging it.  “Oh no, not again!”

A hoard of Helidrones flew up from below him, unleashing merciless laser fire!

“Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!” Nightscream yelled as he plummeted to the street below.  He heard a crunch. His gears must have shattered.  “Slag!”

His wing wasn’t functioning.  He tried not to panic.  “Computer, status report?”

Computer:  Subject Nightscream has sustained extreme damages.  Must go to stasis lock.

“No!” Nightscream groaned.  He had to protect that energon.  “Unnnnnnn,” he moaned.

Obsidian stood over him.  “So, bat?  You were pathetic.  Nothing like the Autobot warriors of old.”

Nightscream stared up at the gun aimed at his head.

“Megatron,” Obsidian said, “We’ve retrieved the energon the maximal stole.”

“Did you dispose of him?” Megatron asked.

“Yes.  He’s scrapped in the middle of the main road.”

Diagnostic Drone flew up beside them.  “But, sir, m’lord, wouldn’t the Maximal’s retrieve him?”

“No.  I like the idea,” Megatron boomed.  “Let Nightscream’s demise be a warning to ALL Maximals who oppose me.  Surround the area with drones.”

Diagnostic drone made a face.  “Well I don’t like it one bit.”

Nightscream’s body sparked.  His hand quivered slightly.  “Optimusssssssssss,” he whispered.  He couldn’t stay online for long.  His body was mangled terribly.  No transformer could survive this.

The sound of gunfire was heard over head.   Silverbolt flew overhead.  Nightscream could see Silverbolt looking down at him.  Why wasn’t he coming?  Was he too busy to help his partner?

Silverbolt looked back, then down.  Shaking his head he flew off.

No!  What was that bird doing?  He should be helping his comrades!  He should help his friends!

Silverbolt hit his comlink.  “Rattrap, we’ve got a team member down.  Check it out.”

“Ehhhhh,” Rattrap cackled back.  “Who?  Spots?”

“No,” Silverbolt said deeply.  “It’s that prick, Nightscream.”

“Nightsream, eh?  Well that’s different.  I’m kind of busy analyzing a spark container right now.  You know it’s amazing how…hey, why don’t YOU help the kid?”

“Me? I can’t.   I’ve got aerodrones on my tail.  Besides, that place is infested with Stryka’s drones.  I’m not risking my hide for his.”

“Good point,” Rattrap muttered.  “Okay.  I’ll see if ol’ twigs wants to help the flying rodent.  Rattrap out.”

Nightscream could barely even see now.  Only his sound sensors functioned properly.  He slowly felt someone pick him up.  He was being moved!  Rescued!  That bird bot got over his thick head and saved him!  He finally allowed himself to enter stasis lock.  It was safe now.

Soon, his optic sensors flashed on.  He had no idea how long he was out.  His body had been fully repaired.  Optimus did a great job.  That’s when he noticed it.  A diagnostic drone flew over his head.  Where was he?  Was he in the pit?  Nightscream leaped up off his bed.  He was in some underground warehouse.  Several drones were swarming around him, making last minute repairs on his techno-organic body.  He swatted one away.  Who brought him here?  None of the Maximals would risk taking him to a restoration center.

“Are all the repairs finished?” a voice said from the other room.

Nightscream stiffened.

“Yes,” a monotonous voice replied.  “I’ll bring him in right now.”

Nightscream tried to transform.  Ouch!  That hurt.  His body wasn’t fixed fully.  He still couldn’t transform to robot mode.  His sensors perked up.  Someone was coming!

A red light glowed in the shadows.  It stared back at him.  “He seems to be fine, now.”

The Diagnostic Drone flew to Nightscream’s side.  “Yes, I would say so.  But a few gears seem to not be functioning properly.  We may have to keep him here for a few more mega cycles.”

“And I have your word Megatron won’t harm him?” The bot in the shadow shouted.

“Yes,” the Diagnostic Drone nodded.  “You do.  Although it’ll cost you a lot more Cybertronian Credits.”

“Done,” the bot replied.  “I don’t care how much.  Take care of him and when he’s fixed, escort Nightscream back to the Maximals.  If there’s any other thing I can do, let me know and I’ll be back.”

The bot turned around and rolled off.

Nightscream blinked.  Did he just hear what he heard?  That was no Maximal in the shadows.  “Diagnostic Drone?”

“Yes?” he said, floating near him.

“Who brought me here?  Botanica?”

“Oh no,” the Diagnostic Drone said, waving his hands.  More drones came and continued the repairs.  “Tankorr did.”

“What?” Nightscream gasped.  “Tankorr?  The villainous traitor?  Why’d he risk himself for me?”

“I don’t know,” Diagnostic Drone muttered.   “Now lie down so we can finish the repairs.”

Nightscream let the thought sink into his datatracks.  Tankorr saved him?  Tankorr, not the Maximals, saved him in his time of need?  No way!  But, alas, it was true.  He shut himself back off into stasis lock.

This story is based on Luke 10: 25-37 (New International Version).  Jesus told of the parable of the good Samaritan.  It says in the Bible that we must  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”  Jesus explained that we should love our neighbors, and show that love.  But who is my neighbor?  Which of the three (Silverbolt, Rattrap, Tankorr) was a ‘neighbor’ to Nightscream?  The one who had mercy on Nightscream was.  Jesus says that we must “Go and do likewise.”

So love your nieghbor as yourself.  But don’t just say it, show it!
