Out of the Deep Blue is a company I started in 2002 to market my photography as well as offer illustration and design services, specializing in underwater and natural history images.

I started diving while working for the Bermuda Biological Research Station after graduating from Stanford with a degree in Engineering: Product Design in 1998, and started shooting when I began work as a design engineer for Light & Motion in 1999. Working there afforded me the opportunities to dive and take pictures in such wonderful locations as Fiji and the Channel Islands.

These experiences led to an increase in my desire to directly participate in the protection and conservation of our marine ecosystems, and so at the end of 2002 I left my position at Light & Motion and am currently enrolled in the master's program at Moss Landing Marine Labs in Moss Landing, CA, where I work in the Bird, Mammal, and Turtle laboratory. I hope this education in conjunction with my engineering and photography background will allow me to research, document, and educate about our worlds magnificent ocean environment.

This website reflects my passion to stay involved with photography and design (and to help support myself as a student!) Enjoy exploring the site, and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. For further background, please see my resume.
