Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!
Gay your life must be

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Eating all the gum drops he can see
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
Leave some there for me!

~ by Marion Sinclair ~

Every Australian school child knows this famous song.
Affectionately known as the "Laughing Jackass", the
Kookaburra is best known for its raucous laugh, a
territorial call to warn off other males.  The "gum drops"
that the kookaburra eats in the song are beads of sap
that form on the gum tree (Eucalyptus tree).

I chose this theme for my last page because underneath it all
I am an Australian born & bred and I am proud of it.

I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!!
