Main page

There is a cat that comes around my house
and just last week again I saw him there
but hide nor hair I have not seen of mouse.
You do but blink and he is thinnest air.
I feel his gimlet glare upon my soul
at night the hunter stalks his helpless prey
the scourge of every mouse and mole and vole
as death cries haunt the air I start and pray.
Yet what should I discover come the dawn
A great big rat almost as large as Cat
I nearly fainted right there on my lawn
Cat I found a-napping on my mat
Oppose this new arrangemet I do not,
I think we are both happy with our lot.
