The Zoq-Fot-Pik History
The Zoq-Fot-Pik live on a redux world, which is similar to a jungle world. Originally four species on the planet achieved minimal sentience (like our cave men) the Zoq, the Fot, the Pik and the Zebranky. The Zoq-Fot-Pik were mainly vegetarians, so they were not prone to violence, but the Zebranky were carnivores who ate the Zoq-Fot-Pik. In response the Zoq-Fot-Pik then decided to band together to kill all the Zebranky.
Each race had it’s own little tasks. The Zoq, being intuitive and intelligent, were the Generals and the scholars and such. The Fot (unable to speak) incapable of direct communication (which back then was nil to none) were the laborers, the constructed buildings, farmed land, etc. The Pik were the ones who did the fighting. The Zoq-Fot-Pik had a triad co-operative with little conflict between each other while the Zebranky were disorganized wolf-pack like hunters who bickered often. For decades the Zoq-Fot-Pik tried to kill the Zebranky by sending Pik soldiers in the woods to find Zebranky, but the discovery of Zappius, a Zoq, changed all that.
Zappius realized that the Zebranky only ate the Zoq-Fot-Pik, so all they had to do was get every body to live in well defended cities and starve the Zebranky to death. They tried to take over the city, but they were disorganize and had bad weapons and the Zoq-Fot-Pik had good defenses. At first many of the Zebranky died trying to take over a city, after that they realized that they couldn’t and they just starved to death.
After words the Zoq-Fot-Pik released their task had been complete. They then decided to not advance in technology and just sit back and relax, for 5000 years. But one day a Zoq, a Pik and a Fot (better communication abilities were developed for the Fot by then) were walking by a mountain and a razor shaped flaming blade fell from the heavens. It then proceeded to fall towards the Zoq, the Fot and the Pik, some grass got caught in the hole of the blade, and then the blade killed the Zoq. This death was so sudden and unexpected and spectacular, that it shocked the living Pik and Fot. To make then fell better they said that the Zoq just went to a ‘better place.’ The razor was shaped like a wheel and that gave the Pik and Fot the idea of the wheel. And the wheel put the grass in it on fire and so they discovered fire.
Since the Zoq-Fot-Pik were vegetarians, violence didn’t come too easily to them, besides there was no countries just the Zoq-Fot-Pik and they were a co-operative, so they weren’t prone to conflicts and had no wars between each other. In fact the only important and interesting thing about the Zoq-Fot-Pik were their political movements (but YOU can add to the history of the Zoq-Fot-Pik! Send me your idea!).
They had a different government every few years and (up until the Doctrinal Conflict) no form of government lasted more than 9 years. Every possible form of government that you can imagine, they had it at one time or another. However there were only 2 forms of governments that said that a Fot ever ruled. First there was dictatorship, which was enforced by the military (police since they didn’t need an army), so the Pik ruled most of the governments for a while, but some emperors said that only the females should lead and the males be their lackeys. Another would say that only female Zoqs can be in the military and only the Piks could work on the farm(this didn’t last long since the Fot were dependent on the labor).The government dominated everything until the Zoq-Fot-Pik achieved global communication.
The government told them what to think, say and do. They said how things are done. Now it may sound evil, but remember the Zoq-Fot-Pik are vegetarians and are not out for violence and power and oppression (at least not to the degree of us). The religion was not directly controlled by the government and any government who tried to do this directly were rebelled upon, besides the religion was not complex, it didn’t matter if you were good or bad you would go to the ‘better place’ regardless. However, it was taught that if you were good you would enjoy the ‘better place’ more.
When technology delivered global communication the government was just a body of people who were just regulated a bunch of stuff. The laws were voted in by society and by intellectuals(which were mainly the Zoq). The revolution of government stabilized more and more as more technology was introduced. Just when global communication was used commercially the governments turned from dictatorship to a form of democracy. However it was very different. Only certain people can vote about certain things, for instance only people with medical education can vote for medical stuff and those who were in the military could vote for military stuff. And Fots could never vote because then they were seen as unintelligible robots (communication with Fots were very limited then).
However the Zoq-Fot-Pik didn’t like democracy at all it just caused vast amounts of corruption and lies between the leaders and the people. But however the people and the leaders did see that it was a MUCH more efficient way of organizing things. Who better to direct medical laws than the people who knew about it? But once computers were introduced a radical new form of government was introduced.
Computers revolutionized Zoq-Fot-Pik society (as it would any society). It brought the possibility of communism, however communism only lasted 15 years, until it was taken over by socialism. Socialism more or less worked well for the Zoq-Fot-Pik. Currency was abolished and in doing so, much of greed and corruption was abolished. The leaders could get corrupted by money (no currency) or power (the military was declared autonomous), also by then the Zoq-Fot-Pik society was advanced enough to handle socialism the way it was intended. It wasn’t until computers were available that great strives in communication with the Fot were achieved. The Fot were used as labor, but with communication with the other two races (which controlled everything) they were able to do a lot more than just work.
The leaders weren’t really leaders, they were more like educated regulators. The people voted in most of the laws by daily mass of votes send in by a form of Internet and ONLY the intellectuals(both inside and outside the government) introduced new laws that the people voted on. When the people were about to give the choice to vote there were write-ups of each possible choice and why you should pick that choice (arguments were written by the intellectuals).
When the Zoq-Fot-Pik nearly achieved hyperspace technology they realized that some races could be hostile, like the Zebranky, so they use their plasma containment technology (for the tongue Stinger) and anti-matter technology (for the anti-matter bullet shooter) for weapons and designed the Stinger.
