The Yehat/Pkunk History

The Yehat live on a water world in the Gamma Serpentis system on the first planet. They are 3 meters tall and look like a cross between pterosaurs and a bee (mainly the pterosaur part). They live in the tropical section of their planet, so that is why they don’t have feathers. They evolved with many predators and they are an avian race so the Yehat have lighting fast reflexes. They have a strong honor-base society. However the past actions of the Yehat are now seen as dishonorable, much like the christians of today see the past actions of the church as sinful.

The prehistory of the Yehat were what they call the “Wars of Ascension” a period were warlords over certain regions of the Yehat Homeworld had control and tried to gain more and more control over others. But none were powerful enough to do this, so they kept on fighting each other. One warlord would conquer another and another, but other warlords would either team up an attack the stronger warlord (for fear of their clan being the next target) or rebellion would be incited within the clan dividing and decreasing the large clan’s power.

The military of the Yehat were always dominant in Yehat society. Thus they had a primitive way of maintaining order in their society. It was an honor-based order. Honorable people were socially accepted and love, the more honorable you were the better you were treated and the more privileged you were. Dishonorable people became slaves or were killed. They had a religion and ‘special’ rituals for birth, death, adolescence, adulthood, becoming a warrior, carpenter, farmer, etc. And just plain rituals for obtain or regaining honor. Also females were almost as equal as males.

It was during this time that Weeny Wikki Beeki Birdi (the first Pkunk so to speak) uttered the Original Squawk, "Rup-rup-rup-BGAK." This Pkunk teaching didn’t get remotely popular until the discovery of HyperSpace. But Weeny Wikki Beeki Birdi kept a small clan in the cold north of the Yehat Homeworld to minimise the possibility of a normal Yehat clan of attacking them. Their Weeny Wikki Beeki Birdi’s clan meditated and philosophised on everything, until they chose exodus.

After millennia of war between the Yehat, a female warlord of the Veep-Neep clan conquered the Caer Zeep-Reep with spectacular success and with little casualties. The Veep-Neep and the Caer Zeep-Reep were the 2 largest clans on the planet. The female warlord was the most powerful of all the others by far. She then sent messengers to all the clans stating that they would surrender to her power because she could, in time, crush all of them and that unification would be better for all Yehat and that she and her descendants would promise to never be defeated in battle. Many of the Yehat clans agreed the others that didn’t were eventually force too. Thus began the dynasty of Veep-Neep Queens. And the Yehat Dark Ages ended and life continued to prosper.

After the female warlord of the Veep-Neep clan declared herself Queen the Yehat society began to prosper. Never before had the Yehat experienced such a lack of violence. It took them generations for the Yehat society to get use to it. Once there were only a few inter-clan quarrels and not small to moderate armies braking off from the main body to fight other clans did the Yehat enter the atomic age. Thankfully too because some Yehat dissidents could of obtained a nuke and done a lot of damage with it, maybe even bring down it’s civilisation.

After a few centuries of adjustment to the new found peace between all Yehat the ‘Pkunk faction’ was discovered and considered dishonourable, but their society evolved to state were they would not kill another Yehat, especially a large group of them such as the ‘Pkunk.’ At that time the ‘Pkunk’ began to be able to read minds and see the future. The Yehat weren’t threatened by the telepathy because they did not know about it, but the ‘Pkunk’ told them a lot about their premonitions. One of these premonitions was about the destined HyperSpace travel. When Yehat scientist actually discovered it and were able to use it the Pkunk movement became much more popular.

The Yehat finally expanded to other star systems and the ‘Pkunk’ movement had taken 2 thirds of the population. The Queen of the Yehat felt very threatened by the ‘Pkunk’ movement and made the order for the ‘Pkunk’ to disband. The ‘Pkunk’ ignored the order, but they were able to see the future and knew that one day the Queen would force them into submission so they prepared to leave. When the Queen sent early versions of Terminators to submit the ‘Pkunk’ they were already leaving. Unfortunately only half of the Pkunk made it out of Yehat space alive.

The Yehat were, however, devastated by the departure of the Pkunk, 17% of the population was dead, half left and the rest had to pick up the pieces. Because of the Pkunk’s departure the Queen abolished religion, for fear it may lead to a “Pkunk-like” devastation. The Yehat did bounce back very efficiently, there overpopulated world inhabited the empty colonies and a reform in the honour system increased the productive of society with teamwork, freedom and skill (the change happened because of the abolishment of religion).

The Pkunk however took a much longer while to bounce back. They had to find a habitable world for themselves at Gamma Krueger 1. They then had to colonise the planet and try to prosper, which they did. But couldn’t as well as the Yehat because they focus most of their energy on spirituality.

NOTE: This is only on some aspects of the Yehat/Pkunk History. But you can add to them! All you have to do is email me your ideas.
