In April of 2001, our class which was then in Grade 9 went to Jamaica. In Jamaica we had lots and lots of fun. We visited sites such as the Dunn's River Waterfalls, Rose Hall Great House, Devon Great House, Sam Sharpe's Square, Port Royal and New Kingston.

At Dunn's River we climbed the slippery rocks while the water gushed down powerfully. There were many slips and slides, but we all survived.

Rose Hall Great House was so scary. We held tight to each other during the tour because we were told the famous myth of the White Witch of Rose Hall, Annie Palmer. It was told that Annie's spirit still haunted the Rose Hall Mansion. So we were scared terribly of going in there and having Annie's spirit to haunt us. It was also told that Annie did not want anyone in her Mansion after six o'clock in the night, so the Great House was closed at 5: 50. Anyone that didn't believe in the myth and tried to spend a night in the Mansion and did not succeed because some form of evidence  that showed Annie's spirit was present in the house.  In the night when we returned to our hostel from Rose Hall, we began to make fun of myth of the white witch of Rose Hall. We dressed our classmate, Edelva in white garments and covered her face with white powder so that we could frighten our other classmates. While were going down the hallways in the hostel, there was too much too noise coming from our footsteps and body noises and we woke up our teacher. She came out her room and everybody scattered. Some went under beds, others on the gallery about to jump off and a couple squeezed up in a bathroom tub. All of us were caught in the act and immediately sent to bed by our teacher, Mrs. Victoria Richardson, a native of Jamaica. The following night all involved in the White Witch prank had to be in bed by ten o' clock.

Nights Limes

In night when people went to sleep early. Troublesome students would powder their fellow classmates. Some of would throw stale food or pepper in people's mouth and made them eat it while sleeping.

Sometimes in the night , we would hang out at the pool. Having a nightly swim or dip would refresh us for the following day.

Other times we would also go into the Television Room and look at nightly sitcoms on Music Television (MTV) and Black Entertainment Television (BET).
