The first photo was sent in by Iris Eby from Oklahoma to Jane Coddington, NY. When I asked Iris what she used for the Thatch roof she said it was broom straw...Very clever!!!

From Margie Malone to Chris Lalone. This is what Chris had to say in a post to the Patch: To Margie Malone and the Gourdpatch: I was checking out the pics on the exchange site yesterday and saw Margie's birdhouse. I thought to myself how the beautiful colors would fit into our decor--and we just love flowers... Imagine my surprise when I opened the box the mailman had delivered and realized It was for ME! Margie's clue was: My exchange is ready at last Today the post will send in a flash Due west this bird house really must go To a person we all know Hope they will be happy with what they get For I am not an artist, at least not yet! Well, I beg to differ! I think you are a terrific artist! I am afraid, however, that no bird will ever perch inside this beautiful house, as it has found a place of honor INSIDE our house-just in time to be admired by the guests coming to a wedding shower tomorrow- It will cause quite a fuss and may get us some more gourd enthusiasts! Thank You so very much Margie for the gourdglow! Chris LaLone

Two views of a gourd birdhouse from Rheba Rivers to Valerie Smith. Here's the 2 clues she sent to the Patch My Birdhouse is painted and ready for a trip, It's going to a "port" but not for a ship. With Mock Windows and Flowers and a Bird for to see; Plus a Family of Bunnies-one, two and three. The second clue: My Bird House is boxed and ready for flight, By Priority Mail it leaves tonight; Heading for a State that's famous for COAL, Painted to remind one of "Days of Old". Victorian, that is.

Colleen Proffitt sent this delightful Patchwork birdhouse to Rhoda Forbes. Lucky girl, Rhoda! Here's what Rhoda had to say: The picture doesn't do the gourd justice, the colors are very vibrant. Each season is depicted within the patchwork, the scene on the front is just beautiful. This is one gourd that is 'not for the birds', it will grace my living room! It is a beautiful piece of artwork, Thank You Colleen!!!! Rhoda in Fort St John

The next pic is from Kasin Hunter.
"This is a carousel made of gourd wood and natural botanicals.
There are six, individually themed miniature birdhouses around
perimeter interspersed with gourd-shaped wooden beads and
wooden hearts." For canopy and base closeup--"The canopy of
this carousel has real leaves decopauged over the roof top, layer
by layer. Floral grasses, silk flowers, small wooden hearts, gold
piping, and gourd-shaped beads complete canopy look.

"The base was made from a simple ceramic plant pot turned upsidedown and filled with popcorn for weight. A wide decorative ribbon was glued on side of pot and top covered with dried moss. A feathered bird with eggs and a gourd-shaped bead top off the carousel base."

This is what James said when he received the beautiful birdhouse from Roxanne. WARNING : This message has been scanned and has been verified to have GOURD RELATED content inside,. Be forewarned that upon reading this message you will become EXTREMELY addicted to the fruit of Lagenaria siceraria. I GOT MY EXCHANGE YESTERDAY! or for many of you today! :) WOOOHOOO! The pic that is posted DOES NO JUSTICE! Or I might just be biased cause this is my first piece of "GOURD ART!". It now sits in my dining room adorning our 8 seater dinner table, all the time except during meal times....!! :) We have birds that can fit in this sucker, but no bird poopoo will *EVER* go in this baby. ;) According to my PostWOman Hawaii was backlogged. AND GUESS WHAT, I got the *lost mail* notification WITH the box! It is the most beautiful golden brown with three horses on it each being rode on by indians. VERY GOOD work, and it will be with me as long as the gourd lasts. ;) To Roxann Zeigler my greatest thanks and UN DANKALU NA SI YU'OS MA'åSE! And to Betty don't worry I finally got it. Whew. Nuff said! :) LOL Your (19yr old) :) Guamanian gourdisian/gourdologist, James Bamba - aka Bayogu Boy (Agana Heights, Guam, USA)
