As you first start out, The Deku Tree has a vision of a boy. That boy is you. She sends for Navi, and tells her of the great evil coming, and that she must bring Link to her.
As you wake up, she tells you that you need to see the Deku Tree. If you try to go see the Deku Tree now, it tells you that you need to properly equip a sword, and a shield, so we need to go get those. You can buy the shield at the shop (with girl sitting on top, and the sword is through the opening on the side (where all of the fences are).
Let's go get the sword first, because it also lets you cut grass for rupees. Look on the map. (Lower right) You see can two main circles, and something jutting off on the bottom. If you are lost go for that. Go through the opening. Take a left, and another right. Keep going straight, then turn left. Turn right again. Go open the chest. Ta-daa! You now have the Kokiri Sword! Make sure you equip it by pressing start, finding it and pressing A once it is selected.
Now you can go get the shield by lifting up rocks, going through grass, and cutting grass, to get 40 rupees and buy the shield.
Now go see the Deku Tree! She tells you that she has been cursed. You must break the curse by destroying what is inside the Deku Tree. Enter...
Make sure you have at least one stick because you will need it later. You can get these by killing the plant creatures. Climb the ladder and keep walking around until you get the chest. Open it and you will find the map. Ignore the spiders on the wall, and keep walking around until you find a door. It will shut behind you.
Use your shield by holding down the R button to defeat the enemy you know face. If you were look straight at him, it should reflect his deku nut back at him, hitting him. You can do this easier if you are familiar with targeting. Talk to him by catching him, and he will give you a clue if you let him go.
Go through the now open door. Run forward, jump on the block, and then jump to the other side. Open the chest there to find the fairy slingshot! Equip it on your screen by putting it to one of the c-buttons. Turn around and aim the fairy slingshot. See the ladder? Shoot it, and it will fall. Climb up it, and go back through the two doors. Remember the spiders on the wall? You can now shoot them down with the slingshot. After you make sure they are all dead, climb up the vines.
Ignore the giant spiders for now and walk around to the door. Go through it, and you will be in a room with a switch and some blocks. Hit the switch, and jump across the blocks that rise, to a chest. Open it to find the compass. Run back down, and climb up the vines on the other side to where you were before. Don't bother going to the left side unless you want a heart, or the skulltulla. (If so, use the switch and the blocks to get there).
Light the torch using you deku stick to bring the fire over to the torch. Quickly put away your deku stick by using the sword, or pressing A before it burns! Go through the door. This time you need to kill one of the giant spiders that hang down. Walk up to it, and without getting too close wait for it to turn around, showing its vulnerable belly. Hit it twice and its dead. You can now see over the side where the web is down there. Aim carefully as you jump for that. If you did it right, the web will break as you fall.
You will now be in a place with a lot of water. You will learn to recognize the sound of the skulltulla. You can hear it now. There are two. One on the vines, and one on the bars by the switch. Hit the switch, and it will light a torch. Open the chest to find a recovery heart. See on the other side where web covers a door? Use your deku stick to burn it with the newly lit torch. Jump onto the shallow platform as you cross, or the flame will get wet, and go out. Walk through the door.
Target the shrub guy, and again, reflect his deku nut at him. He tells you that you order to kill his brothers is: 2, 3, 1. Shoot the eye above the locked door with your slingshot. This will unlock it. Go through the door. You'll be in a room with a spiked stick blocking use of the platform across. Dive in the water, and hit the switch. Go back up the side you dove from, and jump on the platform.
You will pass safely under the spiked stick. Jump to the other side. (This is timed, so if the switch runs out of time, hit it again, and go faster). Kill the giant spider by hitting its belly. Pull the block into position, (as far as you can pull it)and climb it. Go through the door up there.
Light all of the torches and a door will unlock. Go through it. Kill the giant spider, and keep going. Try not to pass through the middle or some mini-gohmas will try to attack to you. Use the torch to light the web, and kill the plant creature in there. You can't open this wall until you get bombs later, though. Light the web to the other side, and you will find a little opening. Crawl through this.
Go to the left, and push the block down, so this spot is easy to access from that side. You will need to light the web using the torch down there. Use your deku stick, jump on the block, and hit at the web with the stick, so the fire touches the web (same button as bringing out the deku stick). You will fall down into another room. Here you will face the 3 brothers you heard about. Use the order of 2 (middle), 3 (far right), and 1 (on the left) to kill them. Catch the last one and he will tell you how to defeat Queen Gohma. Enter the boss room for Queen Gohma...
Go to the boss section to find out how to defeat Queen Gohma. After you defeat Queen Gohma grab the heart container, and step into the light...
Leave the forest, using the front entrance. Saria will confront you, and give you the fairy ocarina. Link will run out of the forest for the first time. As you head towards the castle, the owl speaks to you. He explains more of the rules and tells you to keep straight on the path to get to the castle. If it turns night, just fight off any skeletons with a few hits, and wait for day to come. Walk into town and you will find the market. Keep going straight, and you will find the Castle (way to the castle at least).
Follow the flow of the river until there is some shallow dirt that lets you climb out. Go all the way to the boxes, there is a man sleeping there, blocking you moving the boxes there. Has your egg hatched yet? If it hasn't wait a little bit, and it will hatch into a chicken. Bring out the chicken next to the man, and it will wake him up. Talk to him again after he stops speaking. He runs off afterwards.
Move the boxes into the water as far as you can. You will hear a sound after you put the second box in correctly. Use the boxes to jump to the hole in the wall. Climb through. You must get by all of these guards to get to Princess Zelda. Hide behind the bushes until the first guard goes to the top right. Quickly run to the next set of bushes. Again, hide behind the main bushes. Wait for the guards to both go in the far middle. Quickly run to the next bushes.
Forget the petty rupees, and climb the stairs. Slowly go over the middle wood platform, so you don't fall. Go to the stone wall and the fountain. Hide behind the main stone wall, and wait for the front guard to be on the top side, on the far right, and other one the left side in the middle. Run to the middle of the fountain and wait for the guard on the left side to move. Once he moves to the top far left corner, quickly run to the last set of bushes.
Hide behind the main bush, as usual, and wait for the 2nd guard to move to the middle left. Then run to the bush directly in front of the main one. Wait for the 2nd guard to move to the top far right and then quickly run to where Zelda is waiting in the Castle Courtyard to the left.
Talk to princess Zelda (you can be as annoying as possible and answer her questions wrong if you want, because it won't affect the game).
Head towards Lon Lon Ranch on the trail for your second song! Go into the middle where all of the horses are. Talk to Malon and she will eventually say "let's sing together." Take out your ocarina by pressing its c-button and she will teach you Epona's song. This song does little until you become an adult. Now go back to the Kokiri Forest to learn Saria's song. You need to through the lost woods to find Saria.
The lost woods is the exit to the left of the main exit. It is on a high hill, and you need to climb the wall to get there. Take a right as you enter. Learn to listen to the music. It will guide you through the forest. If not, the route is: right, left, (owl) right, left, straight, left, right, and this should have you in the sacred forest meadow. You're almost there! To open the gate, fight the Wolfos. Press your swrod when he lets his guard down, and you need to look out for his claws and flip. Move forward into a fairly simple mazelike passages.
You can see the route on your map in the lower left hand corner of your screen. To defeat the Mad Shrubs you will face, simply target them with your shield and hit them. Keep going until you get to the top of the 2nd set of stairs. You will see Saria. She teaches you Saria's Song. Now you can stay in touch with Saria. Head back out using the ladder at the bottom of the stairs. You can know get the Sun's song. This allows you to change night to day and vice versa. It will also freeze the undead, when you can't change it to day. (such as indoors). Go to Kakariko Village. It is right next to the castle drawbridge. Go to the graveyard. The entrance is by the chicken girl, and the well, past the stairs. Head to the lead tombstone. It is in the back. It is the royal family's tomb. Stand on the triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby. Any time you see this symbol, play this song. Go into the newly found hole. Walk down and kill all of the bats to open the door (slingshot?). Go through the doorway. Carefull! There is acid and many ReDeads in this room. Beware of its gaze and its bite. Push buttons constantly to escape. Go thorugh the passage in the end. Read the ancient tablet. You have learned Sun's Song! If the Redeads were giving you trouble, you this song to paralyze them. You can free them by waiting too long, or hitting them.
Go to Kakiriko Village by the gate. There is a guard there. Show him Zelda's Card, and he will ask you to get him a mask, and he gives you a discount on the shield. He also lets you go up Death Mountain. Go back to the Market. There is a shop to the right of the path to Hyrule Castle (still in town). Go inside. It is the Happy Mask shop. Get a mask. Also go also get a Hylian shield at the Bazaar (has a picture of a man's face). If you don't have enough rupees, go to the room by the gate. Go back to the guard and give him the mask (by wearing it.
Head up death mountain. Keep on the trail until you reach Goron City. You can easily defeat the Red Tektites, but avoid the rolling Gorons. Keep walking forward. You will fall to the lowest level. Walk to the door at the end. It has red writing incribed on it. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the carpet and the door will open. walk up to the Goron, Darunia and talk to him. Play Saria's Song and he will start dancing like crazy! He gives you the Goron's Bracelet. Now you can pick up bombs, and can have access to other parts of the city. Go back up to the top level and leave. Go to the edge. See the bomb-flower? Pick it up and throw it towards the boulder down there, blocking the cave. It will blow up, and you can now enter Dodongo's Cavern. Enter Dodongo's Cavern.
Pick up the bomb to the left and set it by the door. Use the platforms and ladders on the end to get to the left. If you need a Deku Shield, the business shrub on the left is selling one. Blow up the wall to the right of the beamos, to find a chest. Open it to find the Dungeon Map. Go over to the opposite side. If you are low on life, bomb the wall to the left. It is a Gossip stone. play Zelda's Lullaby, and it gives you a fairy. Grab it to get full life. You can only play it once, so make sure you get the fairy quickly, before you goes away. Bomb the door to the right of the beamos, and enter the new passage. Keep going down the length of the passage to the two statues. Watch out for the mini-dodongos as you go. Carefull they blow up after they die! Move the statue onto the switch by pulling or pushing it. Go through the now open door. Go down the passage. You can ignore the bats, but watch out for their dive! Enter for the mini-boss. The mini-boss is two Lizalfos. Look below in the boss section for more tips about beating them.
After beating the Lizalfos, go through the now open door. You can bomb the wall to the right, but it only has a business shrub selling Deku Sticks. If you don't have any, go here. There are the bigger dodongos here. You can kill them with the bomb flowers, but you don't need to. Watch out for their fire. Go to the right where the lit torch is. Take out a Deku Stick and light the 3 torches down the room. Go through the open door. Hit the switch and the door on the opposite side will become unlocked. Go through it. Go in, and bomb the door on the left. There is a chest behind the guy in the middle, but he is the living one. Pull the ones on the left or right of it. If you hit the living one, just wait for it to go back to its spot, or you can use a bomb one it, when its moving. Open the chest for the compass!
Go back out. You see many bombs and a stairway. Take the bomb by the door, and set it in the middle of all the bombs. This will set them all off. Climb the stairs and there is a gold skulltulla on your when you reach the door. Grab it if you want (on the vines). Go through the door. There are fire-keese in here, so be on guard. Switch to your Hylian Shield if you haven't already, because they burn your shield! If this happens the business shrub near the entrance is selling one. You can shoot them down with the slingshot, or hit them with your sword. Push the statue away to climb the ladder, and hit the switch. Keep going forward over the bridge. There are fire-keese here also.
You will be in a different room. There are razors on the ground watch for these. Fall down and keep going forward to the stone where the ladder is. Climb to the top. Turn around, without falling off. Jump to where the bomb-flower is. Open the chest if you want 20 rupees. Pick up the bomb flower, and land it next to where you just where, on the wall, by throwing it. Go through the passage now open. As you walk in, you will see a fire, shoot the eye above the fire, and walk over, to the other side before it reactivates. Go down the passage.
Open the door, and you will have to re-face the mini-boss. Look below for more tips on how to beat them. Go through the opened door, after you defeat them. Again you need to hit the eye with your slingshot, but this time, there are two. After you hit the first one, jump to the platform, and shoot the eye to the left. Jump across. You will be in the same room as before. Jump over and open the chest. Its a bomb bag. Now you can hold bombs in this bag, and carry them with you. Go down the passage, and hit the switch. You now have easy access from the beginning to this spot.
Go to the right, to the hole in the bridge. Fall down on top of the big dodongo head. In his eye, plant a bomb. After you have done this correctly, it will turn red. When you have done this to both of them, the head will open. Go inside the door. There are more fire-keese here. Go right, and climb up the wall. Follow the only way, until you reach two blocks. Climb up both of them to the top. Walk all the way down to the other side. Don't mind the block there. If you plan to go that way again, pull it, so you don't have to go on top. Go down the passage until you see a block. Push the block over the edge. Now pull the block, until you can push it in the hole. Watch out for attacking fire keese. Go through the door. Get the chest on the other side, then stand in the middle and lay a bomb. You will fall down to face the boss... Look in the boss section for more info on Dodongo.
Go down the path, shoot the skullwalltulas down with your slingshot. Climb the wall. See the fake wall to the left of the owl? Blow it up with your bomb and you will find a Great Fairy inside. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the square and the fairy comes out. She gives you a sword technique. You heard what the lady said! Head down to Hyrule Castle to meet another great fairy. Climb up the vines, and go to the other side. Instead of going left, go straight. You can now blow up the boulder with bombs. Go inside the hole. Talk to the Great Fairy. She gives you the magic spell of Din's Fire!
Since this might be your last chance, let's get some more bottles if you haven't done so already. Head over to Lon-Lon Ranch. To leave the Castle, just get thrown out by the guards. It does no damage. Go into the side door. Talon will be in here. He will challenge you to a game. Find the Super chickens. Throw the regular chickens in the corner. Most will stay in the area. As you talk to him, he will release the super chickens. They will be more obvious now. Catch all 3 and he gives you a bottle. Now go to Kakariko Village. Talk to the "chicken lady". She asks you to find her chickens. Find them all and get a bottle.
There's one by the entrance. Every time you find one, throw it in her pen. Take the one lurking by the pen to get 2 on the other side of the fence. Go up the stairs, with the chicken in your hands. Go to the corner and glide of to the square side fence (higher up grass, next to building). You need to be running, or he won't jump high enough. Throw this one back over. Go down to the other side. There is a chicken down there. Garb it and throw it back over the fence. Go down where the chicken you just threw was, and climb the ladder. There is a chicken up there. Glide down to the other side and throw all 3 in the pen. Only 3 more. Go around the pen. There is the door to the Skulltulla house, house of the rich cursed family. See the fence? There is a chicken behind that. Shoot it with your slingshot through the fence, and it will run off the other side. Put it in the pen. Near the stairs to get to death mountain trail is where the next chicken is. The last one is in a box by the big first stairs to get up to the trail. Roll into the box. Another bottle is your reward. Talk to Saria to find out about the 3rd Spiritual Stone.
She tells you that the last stone is the spiritual stone of water, and King Zora has it. We need to go to the area of the Zora's, starting with Zora's River. Look at the map, or if you know where the river by Kakariko village is, you can just swim upstream through that. When you go there, in the opening, you will see the owl and several boulders. Talk to the owl, and then blow up the boulders with your newly discovered bombs.
Talk to the guy by the gate and buy some magic beans if you want. The maximum you can buy is ten, and you plant them in the soft soil. Come back as an adult to see what has grown. You can plant one now by where the man is sitting. Grab the chicken, and go to where the man is sitting. Jump across the river with it. Once you're across, you don't need it anymore, but you can hold onto it if you want. Cross over to the other side of the river, farther down, and jump off into the water ahead. Pass the log, and go up the hill. Follow the winding path until you face the waterfall hillside. There is a stone under your feet. Play Zelda's Lullaby, and the waterfall will part, letting you in.
Follow the path that leads up to the king's room. Go to the left, and down the corridor to a Zora. She will ask you to play a very easy diving game. Play it, and win. Watch where your shadow is on the sea floor, and then dive. Go back up to her, the way we came last time, and get the silver scale. Dive back down. If you swim forward, you will see a little hole. dive down there, with your new silver scale, and go in. You enter, and it transports you to Lake Hylia. Swim forward and to the left. You can a bottle on the floor. Dive down and get it. Go to the shore, and read the letter inside. Its from Ruto. She tells you not to tell her father, but we need to tell him anyway to get to the level.
Go to the 4 Poles, and dive down, or you can look at the map, where the red triangle is. Dive down and go back in the hole. Go back to King Zora, and show him the letter. He slides over and lets you pass. Don't go through yet. Dive back off into the water, and head towards a shallow part. Take your bottle and catch a fish. Run back up, and go by the King, into the corridor beyond. Swim all the way to the corner, where there is a little island. There is a skulltula here, if you roll into the tree. Blow up the gray boulder, and enter. This is another fairie. She will teach you Farore's Wind.
Walk out, and go in front of the big, whale-like Jabu-Jabu. Walk up to him, and set down the fish. You will be eaten, as he inhales the fish.
Walk to the other side, but watch out for the Octoroks. Use your Deku Shield to block the rocks he spits. Turn around after you reach the door. Use your slingshot to shoot the white switch above. The door will unlock behind you. Go through it. There is a Biri in this room. It will shock you if you touch it. Go to the door on the other side. There is a girl called Ruto in this room, she is the King's daughter. Talk to her. She falls in a hole.
Follow her! Talk to her a few more times, and she will let you carry her. Carry her through the door behind you. There are some Shabom in here. Try to avoid these. Go down the passage, and into a room with water and a switch. Throw Ruto to the other side, and hit the switch. If you don't, she drowns, and she starts from the beginning again, saying that you left her. Pick her up and keep going. Go down the path to the locked door, and set her down to shoot the switch. Pick her up, and go through the door.
Set her down to fight the guy you face. Just reflect the rock back at him. Wait for the platform to come down, and ride it to the top, carrying her. Jump off there. Carry her through the door, and into the original room. Avoid the holes and creatures, and walk through the door. Turn to the right, and walk all the way to the end. There is a white switch there. Go to it with her on it, and walk through the door with her. Set her down and fight the creatures here, using your slingshot preferably. Wait for the stingers to come from the ground, then hit them. Kill them all, and a chest will appear. Open it for the boomerang!
Pick Ruto up, walk out the door, and continue to go down the hall straight. There is a blue switch at the end. Put Ruto on it and go inside. There is a long tentacle thing here. You need defeat several of these to gain access to the boss. Target the weak part of the tentacle and hit it with your boomerang, then wait for the tentacle to come down far enough and hit it again. If it doesn't come down, you aren't close enough. Keep doing this, and it will die. A chest will then appear. Open it to find the dungeon map. Get Ruto, who complains that you left her, and into the door to the left. In this room, kill all of the Shabom, and another chest will appear. Open it to find the compass.
Go out with Ruto, go down the main hall, and turn at the second left, by the white switch. Kill another Parasite tentacle, and the tentacle blocking the middle door in the main hallway will be gone. Go back outside, turn right down the main hallway, and turn on the first right. Kill the last tentacle, and all of the Biri with your boomerang, and the large tentacle in the room where you met Ruto will be gone too. Go back out and straight into that room. Go in the second hole to the right, and fall down. As you fall down you can see two skulltullas on the wall. Get them with your boomerang and walk through the door in front of you.
Walk through the door. Its the spiritual stone of water! Throw her up there. The platform she is standing on goes up, and down comes the mini-boss, Bigocto. Look in the boss section for more info on Bigocto. After he dies, hop onto the platform. It will take you up to the top. Go forward and go through the door, after getting what was in the jars behind you. Shoot your boomerang at the red wiggling platforms to calm them down long enough to cross. Cross to the other side and go through the door. Hop onto the platform, and it will ride down. Go around the corner, grab a box, and set it on the blue switch on the other side. Go through the door. Kill the Biri here. and climb up the web on the side of the stone. Target the white switch and use your boomerang. It will go around the glass and hit it. A door opens. Go through it to face the boss, Baranade. Look in the boss section for more on Baranade. Take the heart and walk into the light.
As you arrive you see some more of that awesome cinema. Zelda rides away with her bodyguard. She throws something in the water as she leaves. Then you see Ganondorf, and meet him for the first time. You stand up to him, and he shoots you with dark magic from his hand. He rides off. Go see what Zelda dropped in the water. You found the Ocarina of Time! She gives you her message through the ocarina and teaches you the Song of Time. Play this song in the Temple of Time, which is by the market. Instead of going straight to the castle, see the big cathedral-like thing? Go there, to the right of the path to the castle. Go inside the Temple of Time and play the Song of Time in front of the door, on the far red carpet. The door will open, and as you walk in you see the Master Sword. Go up and grab it. Ganondorf appears, and thanks you for letting him in the sacred realm.
You are awaken by a sage. You slowly look around. Rauru tells you the story. You are in the Chamber of Sages, inside the Temple of Light. You have unleashed the final key. Look at yourself...
