Installment 3

The next morning Bailey woke up at 10:30 and saw that Lana was already up and dressed. “What time did you wake up?” she asked, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

“About an hour ago,” Lana said, brushing her hair. Lana pulled her hair up into a messy bun while Bailey got up to get into the shower. By 11:30 both girls were ready. Lana had on some dark jeans and a pale blue short sleeve shirt. Bailey put on a shin length black skirt and a blue and black checkered tank top. She just left her hair down and curled the ends in to frame her face. They both went downstairs and saw the guys in the lobby chatting with the limo driver, probably informing him that they would need a ride to the Hard Rock Café. Max turned around and saw the girls approaching.

“Hey guys, all ready for lunch?” Max asked.

“Oh yeah, I didn’t eat breakfast. I slept in,” Bailey said.

“Good deal,” Max replied as the five of them got into the limo. It didn’t take long for them to reach the Hard Rock, and when they checked in with the hostess they found out that the Hansons had not yet arrived. They sat at the bar and ordered some sodas as they waited, looking around at the paraphernalia hanging on the walls. At about 12:40, they finally arrived in a flurry of activity.

“Way to be on time,” Bailey teased Isaac as they were all showed to their table. He grinned, shrugging.

“Sorry, it was out of our control,” he replied. The interns all teased the Hansons as they ate lunch, even though Tay had explained how their meeting had run later than expected. After lunch was finished, the eight of them headed out and towards Central Park. They walked around a little, people watching, and just hanging out. As they walked around, they saw a few horse carriages parked along a paved walker’s path in the center of the park.

“Shall we?” Connor suggested. They all agreed and climbed into two carriages. Bailey, Taylor, Lana, and Isaac were in one carriage while Seth, Max, Connor, and Zac piled into the other. They went for a ride through the park, waving at people who recognized Ike, Taylor, and Zac. After their carriage ride, they headed to southern Manhattan and waited for a ferry that would take them to the Statue of Liberty.

“This is really cool. I’ve been to New York before, but I never really appreciated the history. It would be really cool for us to do a video here, you know?” Taylor was saying as they waited. Zac gave him a strange look.

“Tay… take a break! We’re supposed to be having fun, not imagining what our next video will be!” he teased. Tay blushed a little, but nodded.

“Ok, no more work. All play. Got it,” he stated. As they waited in line, a bunch of people came up and asked the Hansons for autographs or for pictures. About half an hour later, they finally got on a ferry and headed across the water towards the Statue of Liberty. Lana laughed at the look on Zac’s face.

“What’s wrong?” she asked. He shook his head.

“I’m just waiting to see if it’s gonna move. Y’know, like in the Ghostbusters movie?” he replied. Lana looked at Connor and they burst out laughing.

“Don’t hold your breath,” Connor stated. Zac grinned.

“Hey, it could happen,” he said, then paused. “No, wait, actually it probably couldn’t.”

“I think you’re right,” Lana agreed. The eight of them got off the ferry and headed towards the elevator that would take them to the statue’s head. They spent nearly an hour looking out over the harbor and southern Manhattan. Lana and Bailey snapped pictures of everything, while Max video taped it all, including the World Trade Center twin towers.

“Are we going up in them?” Seth asked. Taylor shrugged.

“Do you want to?” he asked. Everyone nodded, so after returning from the ferry ride, they headed to the WTC and took an elevator up the 107 floor to the observatory.

“Let’s go all the way up,” Zac pleaded, giving everyone puppy dog eyes. Lana looked hesitant.

“No… I think I’ll stay down here,” she stated. Zac grabbed her hand and tried to tug her over to the escalator. She pulled back.

“Pleeeeease?” he asked. She shook her head.

“No, you guys go on ahead. I’ll hang out down here, maybe go in the gift shop or something,” she replied. Zac gave up and jumped towards the escalator.

“To the rood, my friends!” he announced. They all went up to the roof part, and Lana went into the gift shop to look around. She bought a few things for some friends and family as souvenirs. When the others came back down they all went back to the elevator and headed back down to the ground. Everyone decided to walk back to the hotel instead of taking a limo, that way they could still do some sight seeing on the way back. It wasn’t that far back to the hotel, but Bailey and Lana managed to stop in about 5 different stores on every street. When they made it back to the hotel it was about 6:30.

“Why don’t we all chill in our suite?” Connor suggested, seeing as they all had a fun time the night before just lounging and playing video games. Everyone agreed. Bailey and Lana made a stop at their room to change into comfortable pajamas first.

“I can already tell that this summer is going to be so much fun!” Bailey exclaimed while pulling on some light blue pajama shorts.

“Well, at least you don’t have a stressful job,” Lana said.

“Hey, it is not my fault they feel I am not responsible enough for a more exhilarating internship,” Bailey laughed.

“Yeah, it is…” Lana said with a slightly confused look on her face, knowing that Bailey really didn’t have control over the situation.

“Hey, since I’m their stylist… do you think that means I can dress them too?” Bailey asked with an innocent yet playful look on her face. Lana threw a pillow at her.

“Now I know why they gave you the easy job… Because you’re childish!” she yelled.

“No!” Bailey responded, while throwing a pillow back at Lana. Both girls continued in their pillow fight until there was a knock on the hotel room door. Bailey skipped to the door and threw it open to see Zac standing on the other side. She smoothed down her hair a bit.

“Hi,” she said.

“Hey, we were just wondering if you two were going to come chill or do… whatever you are doing,” Zac said while slightly peeking into the room. Lana giggled and waved… and threw a pillow at him. He caught it easily, un-phased. “Rrrright, so, like I said…”

Bailey laughed. “Yeah, we will be down in a second,” she informed him. He nodded and tossed the pillow back to Lana, then left the room. Lana and Bailey looked at each other and burst into giggles.

“He has the biggest crush on you, you do realize that, right?” Lana stated. Bailey nodded and sighed, throwing herself down dramatically onto the couch.

“Yes, I know. But he’s a younger man. I like to keep him guessing. You know, to keep his interest peaked,” she replied with a grin. Lana shook her head, smiling.

“You’re so cruel,” she said. Bailey laughed. They went down to Max, Connor, and Seth’s room and found the boys once again engrossed in a video game with Zac. Taylor and Isaac sat on the couch watching.

“Look out for that… nevermind,” Isaac said. Zac scowled.

“I need a little more advanced warning there, Ike, but thanks,” he replied dryly.

“Did we miss anything exciting?” Lana asked, sitting on the couch next to Ike.

“Not really, but according to Zac, we missed out on something,” Taylor said, smiling at Bailey as she sat on the floor in front of the couch.

“Oh don’t worry, there is more where that came from, baby,” Bailey said seductively, winking at him. Lana couldn’t help but laugh at the expression on Taylor’s face. Zac turned around.

“Maybe I didn’t see what was really going on in that room,” he stated, looking accusingly at Lana and Bailey.

“No, I was just kidding!” Bailey insisted, laughing as her comment even though it wasn’t that funny. She stopped and looked around at everyone. “Dude, we need some tunes.”

“Way to discreetly change the subject,” Lana said with a laugh. Bailey grinned, resting her chin on the palms of her hands and giving her an innocent look.

“Yeah, well, I try,” she joked. Max got up and turned on the radio that was beside the TV. The music coming out was “Bye, Bye, Bye” by ‘NSync. Bailey personally liked the song, so she started to sing it and danced around a little. Zac, Tay, and Isaac exchanged secret looks, and then started to laugh. Bailey froze mid-dance move and grinned, thinking that they were laughing at her. “What?”

“Nothing…” Ike chuckled.

“No seriously, what?” Lana persisted.

“You don’t wanna know,” Tay snickered, looking at Isaac. “Should we tell them?”

“I don’t know man. Maybe we should show them instead,” Ike stated. Taylor nodded and they stood up. “Come on Zac, you gotta do this too.”

“Nooo,” Zac moaned, but he stood up as well. The three of them stood in a line.

“First, you have to realize that there are some points on tour when we get really bored, and silly. I mean really bored,” Tay said. They waited until the chorus, and then much to everyone’s amusement, they started dancing. The three of them were perfectly in synch (no pun intended) with their dance moves, and ended their dance waving bye, bye, bye.

“Oh… my… God!” Bailey burst out laughing when they were finished. “That was the funniest thing I have ever seen! Where’s my camera? Do it again!”

“Not for free… The second time will cost ya,” Ike teased, grinning.

“You see the horrible things they make me do on tour when they’re bored?” Zac asked, pretending to burst into tears.

“Oh, poor baby, I’m sure you’ll be ok,” Bailey assured him, patting his shoulder with little sympathy. Zac went back to playing Playstation 2 with Max, Connor, and Seth, while the other four just sat chilling and listening to music. The song “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias came on the radio. (Although, the song didn’t come out until the beginning of September, but that’s okay too… Just pretend.)

“Oh I love this song,” Bailey said, jumping up in excitement. She grabbed the nearest soda bottle and began to perform the song. Lana decided to join in as well, so the two girls did a private show of “Hero” for Ike and Tay. Both guys were very amused and surprised that the girls could sing so well.

“Wow, Bailey, when you told me that you could sing, I wasn’t expecting you to do it so well,” Taylor said.

“Gee, thanks,” Bailey deadpanned, and Taylor blushed. “I’m kidding. I’m really not that good.”

“You have a good voice as well,” Ike said to Lana, smiling at her as she sat down next to him.

“You both do,” Taylor said. “I say you replace BBMak as our opening act.”

Lana grinned, blushing a little. “I don’t think BBMak would like that very much,” she replied.

“Speaking of BBMak, when are we going to meet them?” Bailey asked.

“They’re meeting us in Philadelphia,” Ike answered. “We’ve got sound check tomorrow afternoon and the day after that, and they told us they’d meet us there.”

“So, they’re from Ireland, right?” Bailey asked. Ike and Tay shrugged.

“I think so. Why?”

“Irish accents are just so… adorable,” Lana informed them. Bailey nodded.

“Yeah, it’s right up there with Australian accents,” she added. Ike grinned.

“As, so y’like Irish accents, aye?” he asked, his voice heavily accented. “Well, hold onto yer kilts, lassies. I’ve got the best Irish accent y’ever heard.”

Bailey and Lana looked at each other and burst out laughing.

Taylor rolled his eyes and reached over to playfully punch his brother. “You idiot, that was a Scottish accent,” he told him. Ike laughed.

“Oh yeah, well… I knew that,” he insisted. “I was just testing you, seeing if you knew the difference.”

“Yeah, whatever Ike,” Tay said. Lana and Bailey laughed. The eight of them ordered room service dinner again that night and hung around, playing video games and watching TV. The Hansons left at 10:00 and Bailey and Lana left soon after, seeing as they all had to get up early the next morning.

The girls were up by 8 am to finish packing their things and to get ready. They were all leaving at noon to head to PA. The interns all met down in the lobby and to their surprise, it wasn’t a limo that pulled up by the hotel entrance, it was a big tour bus. The tour manager walked up to them.

“It’s all yours, enjoy. See you in a few hours in Pennsylvania,” he said, then went onto the bus behind the interns’ bus, and they assumed it was the Hansons’ bus.

“Whoa, way cool,” Max said, stepping onto the bus first. There was a sitting area with a couple of couches, a TV and game system, and a kitchenette. Then there was a bathroom, followed by the sleeping area with six bunks, three on each side of the aisle. Then in the back, there was another lounge with a big couch and some chairs and an entertainment system with a TV, DVD player, and surround sound speakers.

“I could definitely get used to this,” Seth commented.

“Dude, chill, it’s a tour bus,” Bailey said as she threw her bag on the top bunk on the left side. Lana took the middle bunk on the same side, and they decided to use the bottom bunk as a storage area for their stuff. Max took the top bunk on the other side, Connor took the middle, and Seth decided to take the bottom one on the “boy’s side.”

“I don’t want to get involved with your girly stuff,” he said laughing.

“Oh, ok good!” Bailey said, laughing also.

“Guess we will have to make a ‘no boys allowed’ sign for that bunk,” Lana said. She and Bailey high-fived each other, laughing. In the wall beside each bunk (right before the doors going to the back and front lounges) there were drawers, so everyone started to put their things in them.

“Aw, sweet! There are little TVs in each bunk,” Max’s voice floated out from inside his bunk with his little curtain closed. He pulled it open a little and stuck his face out, grinning. Bailey giggled.

“Ok, somebody’s easily amused,” she joked. The tour bus started moving, and the five of them went to sit up front and get to know their bus driver, Gus. After about half an hour, the boys wanted into the back lounge area to inspect the entertainment system. Music suddenly filled the bus.

“Awesome! Bus surround sound!” Seth exclaimed.

“Turn it off!” Bailey yelled. She and Lana were lounging on the couch benches in the front area, watching the TV. After a few more minutes, there was a horn honking beside them, and Lana and Bailey peeked out of the window to see that the other tour bus had pulled up beside them. The windows were tinted, but one side slid open and Zac’s face appeared. He grinned and waved.

“Hey!” he shouted. “Nice bus! Ours is better! No wait, they’re the same…”

When they reached PA it was pretty late, so most everyone was already asleep on the bus. Although Max and Lana were awake when they got there, they decided not to wake anyone up.

“Man, I really want to go jump on one of the guys to wake them up,” Max said, fidgeting on the couch.

“Is that all guys want to do? Be annoying and, of course, pick up girls?” Lana inquired, although she had a feeling that she already knew the answer.

“Oh yeah, you know it!” Max said, over enthusiastically.

“Oh, well, on that note I’m off to bed. I can already feel tomorrow being a hectic and busy day, so I want to get some rest,” Lana said, getting up. “And please resist the urge to want to jump on me to wake me up as well. I will hurt you!” she said as she sat on her bunk.

“Oh, I’ll try!” Max said, shutting off the light and going into his own bunk. Tomorrow was the day before the opening night of the Hanson tour. The next few months would be hectic, not just the next day. Max decided not to think about that and get some rest. He went to sleep also hoping no one would wake up and want to jump on him and wake him up.

“I am so tempted,” Lana said quietly the next morning. She looked over at the bunk. Bailey, who was standing beside her only half awake, gave her a confused look.

“What?” she asked. Lana grinned.

“Max’s wake up call. Last night he was telling me that he wanted to wake someone up by jumping on them, and that he didn’t want to be woken that way,” she explained. Bailey laughed.

“Oh, well then, allow me!” she said, looking at Max’s bunk and preparing to pounce on him.

“Go ahead, try it. I dare you,” Max said dryly, opening his eyes and looking up at the girls. He grinned. “‘Morning, ladies.”

“Oh fine,” Bailey huffed. “Spoil our entertainment.”

“Sorry,” Max shrugged, sitting up. It was 7 am, and after a quick bowl of cereal for breakfast with the other interns, Lana headed off to work. At 8:30, Bailey, Max, Connor, and Seth all headed over to the venue where the concert would he held the next night. The road crew was just starting to put the stage together. Bailey headed off to the dressing room area to join Lorraine in picking out perspective outfits for the Hansons for their day of interviews and photo shoots. At 10, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac showed up.

“Nothing too girly,” Zac insisted. “I have a reputation to protect, you know.”

“Don’t worry your pretty little head about your reputation,” Bailey sighed. “I won’t make you look too much like an Olson twin. Only a little.”

“Umm, no,” Zac stated. Bailey gave him puppy dog eyes.

“Oh come on, please? Just a little bit?” she pleaded, laughing. Zac gave her a frightened look, and Bailey rolled her eyes. “Fine! You’re no fun!”

She handed him 2 hangers with a pair of baggy gray pants and a black t-shirt with white lettering of an old, unheard of 70’s rock band. Zac grinned, took the clothes from her hands, and walked away.

“Thank you!”

“You may not be so lucky next time!” she called after him. She handed Ike a pair of brown chords and a tan button up shirt, she included a white undershirt as well. Then she handed Taylor a pair of somewhat baggy black pants and a red t-shirt.

“I thought I would save the leather for later,” she said as she handed him his outfit. “Or for the dumpster!” she called after him as he walked out the door. He turned around and laughed, knowing she was kidding. For the rest of the morning, Bailey didn’t have to do anything, seeing as she didn’t need to get anymore clothes out for the guys until their photo shoot at 2:00. So she decided to wander around the venue.

Lana, on the other hand, was very occupied. She had spent the morning making phone calls to radio stations and TV stations to make sure they had been doing their promotions for the concert the next day. Then she had to go to the copy place to pick up the posters that were being made for the concert. The first break she had was lunch, which she had promised Bailey they would meet up at the tour bus and go out to lunch together. Lana had an hour and a half lunch break. She met Bailey at the bus around noon. The 2 of them walked to a little downtown area close to the venue and found a café where they could get some lunch and eat outside.

“Wow, has my morning been busy!” Lana exclaimed, glad to get a break to just sit.

“Oh yeah. Mine too,” Bailey said, rolling her eyes. “I think I may go to the photo shoot with the guys today, talk to the photographers, maybe pick up another internship, seeing as the one I already have is so time consuming.”

“Hey, be thankful. You get to enjoy the summer as well as have a great internship. I, on the other hand, will have to work my little butt off!” Lana said. Soon the waitress came and they ordered their lunches. Both got Caesar salads with chicken in them. At about 1 pm, the decided to head back to the venue and agreed to chat later that night on the bus.

“You guys put that stage together quickly,” Bailey commented to Connor later that evening as they unwound after their long day of work.

“Yeah, everyone is really excited for the first performance,” Connor explained with a grin. “Or the party after it, at least.”

Bailey laughed. At that moment, the tour bus door opened and in stepped Seth and Lana. Lana grinned and threw herself down on one of the couches in the front sitting area.

“I need a hot tub with lots and lots of jets and bubbles,” she stated.

“I want a million dollars and a date with a supermodel, but we don’t always get what we want,” Max said from across the room. Bailey rolled her eyes.

“You’re such a typical male!” she exclaimed. “Besides, Lana said she needs a hot tub, not wants one. There is a difference, you know.”

“Excuse me for interrupting this oh-so-interesting conversation,” a voice said, and everyone looked towards the door to see the real tour manager, Jeff, standing there. He grinned. “But I have been sent by the almighty Hanson brothers to extend an invitation to you all to join them for dinner tonight.”

“Oh, sweet, where are we going? Some five-star gourmet restaurant?” Seth asked. Jeff smiled.

“No, I do believe that they said to meet them at Applebee’s,” he replied. Seth’s face fell.

“Oh,” he said.

“Yay, I love Applebee’s!” Bailey exclaimed. Everyone gave her strange looks, and she shrugged. “What? We’ve got an Applebee’s back in Portsmouth. I go there all the time.”

They continued to give her strange looks, then Lana turned to Jeff. “Tell them we will be there in 10 minutes or so,” she said. Jeff nodded and stepped off the bus.

“Dude, Bailey, you gotta get out more often,” Max said, teasing her.

“Well excuse me if I enjoy the simple things in life!” Bailey said, going over to her closet area to get some clothes.

“You’re excused!” Seth called.

About 10 minutes later everyone was ready to go. They all decided to take a cab to Applebee’s, seeing as it wasn’t too far away and the cab fare split 5 ways would be fairly inexpensive. When they walked in, the Hansons were already at a table in the back. Seth told the hostess that they were there to meet them and she brought them back to the table. After everyone was seated, a waitress came and took their drink orders, then brought them back to the table.

“So how was everyone’s first day?” Taylor asked while sipping his Sprite.

“Long and busy!” Lana explained.

“Well at least you know you’re doing a good job,” Ike said.

“Oh yeah, my day was long and busy as well,” Bailey said with a joking tone in her voice.

“Hey, it’s a dirty job but somebody’s got to do it,” Zac said, smiling.

“It’s only dirty because you’re involved,” Bailey said, sipping her Shirley Temple.

“Hey!” Zac said. He was about to continue but the waitress returned and took their dinner orders. Zac scowled across the table at Bailey, but didn’t say anything else. Everyone started chatting as they waited for their food to arrive.

“So, tomorrow BBMak will be here. We’re having lunch with them before our sound check. You’ll have to stop by the stage tomorrow morning and meet them,” Taylor said. It really wasn’t a problem for Connor to meet them, seeing as how he was the stage manager, but everyone else agreed to find time to meet the opening act. After their dinner, Lana was determined to find a hot tub somewhere.

“You should come back to the hotel with us, they have a hot tub,” Isaac suggested.

“You guys are staying in a hotel?” Lana asked. Ike nodded.

“With our whole family, it’s too cramped to stay on the bus all the time. So we stay in hotels when we aren’t on the road,” he explained. The eight of them got into a van that the Hansons had rented and Isaac drove them back to the venue where the interns’ tour bus was parked. Seth, Connor, and Max decided to stay back on the bus and play video games with Zac, but Lana and Bailey grabbed their bathing suits and headed back to the hotel with Taylor and Ike.

“Thank you for inviting us to do this. You have no idea how relaxing a hit tub would feel right now!” Lana stated.

“Trust us, we know,” Taylor replied. They let Bailey and Lana change in their room while Taylor and Ike went to their parents’ room to change. When everyone was ready and changed, they made their way down to the pool room, which also included a hot tub. The four of them decided to star off in the hot tub. It was quite large so they all had plenty of room to stretch out and relax.

“Oh, I have been wanting to do this all night!” Lana said, leaning back and soaking all the way up to her neck in the steaming, bubbly water.

“Well, I’m getting a little too warm in here. I think I’m going to make a trip over to the pool,” Taylor said, standing up.

“I’ll go with you,” Bailey said, reaching her hand up for Taylor to help her stand up. “We will be right over there!” Bailey said, pointing in the direction of the pool.

“Okay, have a blast,” Ike said. Then he moved over next to Lana rather than sitting across from her. Taylor walked along the edge of the pool , apparently looking for the “right spot” to enter. Bailey found one for him and gave him a quick shove, and he fell into the water. When he emerged from under the water, he had a somewhat shocked look on his face.

“Hey!” he exclaimed.

“What?” Bailey threw him an innocent look. “You looked like you needed help. I was just following my good nature and helping you out.” She smiled, then jumped into the pool.

“You are definitely going to get it later girly, better watch out!” He smiled, then went under water and swam over to the diving board.

“Oh, I’m scared,” Bailey said as Taylor dove off the diving board and into the water.

“Oh you should be.” He gave her a playfully evil glare as she pretended to look scared. Then she grinned and splashed him with her hands. He splashed her back, and she looked shocked.

“On no you just didn’t!” she stated. Tay grinned and nodded.

“Yes, I believe I just did,” he replied. Bailey shook her head.

“Aww, it is on! You are so going to regret that!” she exclaimed, then started to kick her feet on the surface, sending water splashing everywhere. In the hot tub, Lana rolled her eyes.

“Oh God, Taylor totally set himself up for that one,” she said. Ike raised his eyebrows in question. “No one ever beats Bailey in splash fights.”

“Oh, I see,” Ike said, stretching his arms out on the edge of the hot tub and looking over at the pool. Bailey stopped splashing and looked smugly over at Taylor, who had his eyes squeezed closed while she had been splashing him. He opened his eyes and looked around cautiously, then saw Bailey looking at him.

“Wow, you’re crazy,” he joked, then reached out in the water with his hand and splashed her once. Bailey frowned.

“Will you ever learn?” she asked with a sigh, then proceeded to splash his again.

“Bailey, cool it! You’ll get us kicked out of the pool area!” Lana called. As if on cue, a hotel worker person stepped into the pool room.

“I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to ask you to quiet down or please leave,” he said.

“Sorry!” Isaac called. “We’ll be quiet.”

The guy left, and Bailey got out of the pool, giggling. “Oops,” she said.

“Yeah, ‘oops’ is right,” Lana teased as Bailey got back into the hot tub, Taylor following behind her.

“It was all his fault anyway,” Bailey said, pointing to Taylor. He made a face at her.

“Oh, of course it was,” he agreed jokingly. Bailey grinned and stuck her tongue out at him. “How lovely.”

“I know,” she said. Lana and Isaac laughed. The four of them sat in the hot tub until about 9:00, when they decided it was time for Lana and Bailey to go back to the bus. They all had a big day tomorrow. After changing back into their clothes, the all headed back to the venue to the buses. When they got there, Lana said that they would send Zac out to the van, if they could pry him away from the video games. Isaac thanked her before leaning over and giving her a friendly hug and a little kiss on the cheek. In the seat behind them, Taylor watched for a second before doing the same to Bailey.

“Have a good night. See you tomorrow morning,” he said. Bailey smiled.

“Goodnight,” she echoed. She and Lana both got out of the van and went into the bus, and somehow managed to get Zac away from the video games fairly easily (after Bailey threatened to make him look like a girl for the concert the next evening). The girls didn’t say anything to the others about their evening with Taylor and Isaac, but shared secret smiles with each other before getting ready for bed and climbing into their bunks and falling asleep.
