The beginning of the next day went by fast for both girls. Lana had lots of organizing to do. Since the tour would be beginning soon, they needed promotional posters to send to the venues in the upcoming cities. Bailey had to help Lorraine organize everything for the guys, making sure they had all the clothing that they requested. Bailey secretly tried to hide all leather products she saw, but eventually decided against it since it probably wouldn’t be the best thing to do, being an intern. By the time the evening rolled around, neither of the girls had seen each other very much all day. They were both back at the hotel an hour and a half before they were to go dinner and meet Hanson.
“Are you going for casual or dressy tonight?” Bailey called to Lana, who was in the shower.
“Not sure!” she called back. Lana emerged from the bathroom 5 minutes later. Bailey was still in front of the mirror looking for “the right” outfit. Since time was running short, Lana went for the simple knee length black skirt and a light pink tank top with see-through “frills” at the sleeves and neckline. She had half of her hair pulled back with a few strands framing her face. Bailey wore a long jean skirt with slits up to her knees on each side and a pale red tank top that had little cherries over each strap. She pulled her hair back in a messy way with bobby pins. Both girls loved each other’s outfits.
“Ok, let’s get this show on the road,” Lana said, grabbing her purse and heading to the door.
“Bet we’ll beat the boys down,” Bailey said, getting her bag and shutting the door.
“When do we not?” Lana asked. Both girls laughed and headed towards the elevator. After they got on the elevator, it stopped on the floor below them and when the doors opened, Bailey and Lana were disappointed to see the other interns standing there, waiting.
“Damn, we were hoping that we’d beat you down there,” Bailey stated, laughing.
“Sorry we spoiled your plans,” Connor replied with a smile. Max laughed.
“How exactly could you think you’d beat us down there? Isn’t it a proven fact that girls take several hours to get ready for a simple dinner?” he joked. Both Bailey and Lana narrowed their eyes at him and his stereotypical remark. When they reached the lobby, Connor gave Max a gentle shove out of the elevator, laughing at the stupidity of his comment. The five of them crossed the lobby to the hotel restaurant in a mass of playful insults and giggles. Just as they reached the entrance, Lana froze in her tracks. Bailey looked back and gave her a confused look.
“What, did you forget something?” she asked. Lana shook her head a little.
“No, I just remembered something,” she replied.
“Alright, I’m not even gonna try to guess. Explain,” Bailey said. Lana put her hand on Bailey’s shoulder and turned her to the right, pointing out a table where Max, Seth, and Connor were headed. What they had moved out of the way, Bailey recognized a couple executives sitting at a table with Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson, and an older man whom she assumed was their father. “Ok, so what am I looking at exactly?”
“That was the guy… last night, remember? I knew that I knew him from somewhere,” Lana said, her voice low in a whisper. Bailey looked at her with a startled look.
“Wait, what?”
“That guy in the dressing room last night… I knew that I’d remembered him from somewhere, I just forgot his name,” Lana explained. “It was Zac Hanson.”
"No way.” Bailey turned back to look at the table and squinted at its occupants. Then she recognized him. “You’re right.”
“Let’s go meet them,” Lana suggested, starting towards the table. Everyone stood up as they approached. Bailey saw Zac look a little surprised as he also recognized them.
“How nice of you ladies to finally join us,” said one of the executives, a hint of annoyance etching in his voice. Lana avoided his stare by looking down at her hands.
“We’re sorry,” she apologized. He waved her apology off and motioned to the Hansons.
“Well, nevertheless, these are the Hansons,” he continued, pointing to each brother as he said their names. “This is Taylor, and Isaac, and Zac Hanson. And their father, Walker Hanson. There are our final two interns…”
He trailed off and looked at the girls, trying to remember their names. “I’m Lana,” she introduced herself, extending her hand to them.
“Bailey,” Bailey said, also offering her hand to them to shake. She couldn’t help but scowl a little at Zac and gave him a limp handshake. Who was he to think that he could pull such a prank on two unsuspecting girls and get away hands-clean? Bailey knew that sometime, soon, she would have to get back at him for that. Ideas were already forming in her mind, and she smirked just thinking about them.
“It’s nice to meet you guys,” Taylor stated as they all sat down. Throughout the remainder of the meal, the executives talked about the tour, and where they would be going. At the very end, he passed out a stack of schedules to everyone, including where each stop on the tour would be, and the itinerary for each performance day. Lana flipped through her copy in disbelief when she got back to the hotel room.
“This guy is way too organized,” she stated, shaking her head. She tossed the itinerary onto an end table, then leaned back on the couch. “So, what are we doing tonight? Do you want to go see a movie or something?”
“Yeah, cool. Let me do something with my hair,” Bailey replied. As she disappeared into the bathroom to fix her hair, there was a knock on the door. Lana jumped off the couch and went to answer it.
“Yes?” she asked, opening the door. Her eyes widened a little and she inhaled quickly. “Oh, hi.”
“Hey, Lana, right?” Isaac Hanson was standing in the doorway. Behind him, Taylor smiled and waved.
“Um, yeah. Hi guys,” Lana replied, fidgeting a little. She stepped back, opening the door all the way. “Do you want to come in or something?”
“Actually, we were just on our way out,” Isaac said. Something in Lana suddenly made her feel awkward and embarrassed.
“Oh, okay,” she stammered.
“We just stopped by to ask you guys if you’d like to go to a club with us later. You know, all the interns and stuff. So we can start to get to know each other,” Isaac suggested. A smile crept onto Lana’s face.
“Well, I can’t speak for everyone else, but it sounds like a good idea,” she answered. Isaac smiled and handed her a card.
“Well, we’re gonna be here at 10 o’clock, so you can meet us there if you’d like,” he said. Lana looked down at the address on the card, and then nodded at them.
“Okay,” she agreed.
“Great. We’ll see you later then,” Isaac said. They said goodbye and walked away. Lana closed the door and looked down at the card uncertainly. Bailey emerged from the bathroom, her hair clipped up similar to how it was earlier, only neater.
“Who was that?” she asked. Lana smiled secretively.
“Isaac and Taylor Hanson,” she replied simply, moving past Bailey and into the bathroom. Bailey’s eyes widened, and she followed Lana.
“Really? What did they want?” she asked.
“They invited us to go to a club with them later,” Lana answered. Bailey’s jaw dropped.
“What did you tell them?”
“That I couldn’t answer for everyone, but it sounded like a good idea,” Lana told her. Bailey nodded.
“Yeah, let’s go!” she turned and headed towards the door. Lana laughed.
“Not right now! Later, at 10 o’clock,” she said. Bailey grinned sheepishly. They went together to tell Max, Connor, and Seth about the invitation. They all agreed to meet in the lobby at 9:30. Then Bailey and Lana went back to their room so that Bailey could change into a shorter skirt than the long jean one she had on, and Lana changed from a black skirt into black pants. They freshened their makeup a little, and when they were ready to go, they headed down to the lobby to meet the other interns. The limo was waiting for them, so Lana gave the driver the address of the club and they were off.
That night was just the beginning for them. The five interns and three rock-stars began to get to know each other, and friendships started to form. For some, that is.
“So, have you forgiven me for that little prank I pulled the other day?” Zac asked, stepping up beside Bailey at the bar where she was getting a bottle of flavored water. She scowled a little, not looking at him.
“Nope,” she answered. She thanked the bartender when he returned with her water, then turned and walked away. Zac quickly caught up with her.
“Oh come on, it was just a harmless little joke. I like to make cute girls squirm,” he teased. Bailey stopped suddenly and he nearly bumped into her. She whirled around and was standing so close to him that their noses were a mere few inches apart.
“Oh yeah? How about cute girls making you squirm?” she asked, trying to sound threatening. Zac only grinned.
“Well, it depends on how they make me squirm,” he answered, raising his eyebrows a couple of times suggestively. Bailey stepped away and scoffed at him.
“Yeah, right. Don’t flatter yourself. I’m not up for favors of the sexual kind,” she snapped, turning away again.
“Hey! Who said anything about sexual favors?” Zac called after her. A few heads turned to give him curious looks, and he grinned uncomfortably. “Hey Bailey, wait up! I was kidding!”
Lana, Ike, and Max watched Zac call after Bailey, amused. Connor and Seth were off trying to pick up some girls, while Taylor was at the bar getting a water.
“That is so like Zac,” Ike said, shaking his head while sipping his beverage.
“What is so like Zac?” Lana asked with curiosity, seeing as she didn’t know what Zac was like.
“Hey sexy, wanna dance?” Seth asked, stepping up to the bar next to a tall brunette. The girl looked at him, smirked, and walked away. Seth frowned slightly as Connor and Taylor laughed at him from farther down the bar. “What am I doing wrong?”
“You’re trying too hard!” Taylor told him. Connor laughed.
“Yeah, it’s all in the pickup line,” he agreed. He turned to Taylor with a grin, giving him a little nod. “Show him how it’s done, Tay.”
Taylor nodded, then looked around for an unsuspecting victim. There was a blonde woman standing beside him, so he turned to her, leaning against the bar a little. “Hey there, how’s it going? Can you help me out for a second? You see, I’ve kind of lost my phone number. Can I have yours?”
The girl smirked a little at him. “That’s cute,” she said. Taylor grinned sweetly.
“I know, so are you. Do you want to dance?” he asked. The girl looked away from him for a second, then back at him with a grin.
“Okay,” she agreed. They started to walk away, and Taylor turned around for a second to raise his eyebrows at Connor and Seth. Connor gave him a thumbs-up sign, and Seth just look dumbfounded.
“How did he do that?” he asked.
“Dude, he’s a Hanson. That’s a pick up line all in itself,” Connor replied. Seth sighed.
“Some guys have all the luck,” he mumbled. Lana and Ike got up from the table and decided to dance. Max was left sitting at the table alone.
“Ok, way to be a winner,” Max stated to himself.
“That’s ok.” Bailey sat next to Max at the table and apparently scared him as well.
“Where did you come from?” he asked.
“That way!” Bailey replied loudly over the music, pointing towards the bathroom. “Wanna dance or something?”
"Sure.” They both stood up from the table and made their way to the dance floor by Ike and Lana.
“Where is Zac?” Ike asked.
“Um, somewhere probably still trying to tell me that he wasn’t talking about sexual favors,” Bailey laughed.
“I think he likes you,” Ike said, raising his eyebrows at Bailey.
“Why do you think that?” Bailey asked. Ike gave her a ‘duh’ look.
“I’m his brother, I know him pretty well,” he replied. Bailey laughed.
“Oh yeah, that helps a little,” she agreed. “Well, no offense, but he seems a little too young for me. I’m not into that whole ‘jail-bait’ thing, y’know?”
“Why would I take offense to that?” Ike asked, laughing. They had somehow switched dance partners, and now Isaac and Bailey were dancing, while Lana and Max were dancing together.
“I don’t know,” Bailey replied.
“He’s not that much younger than you. I mean, what’s 3 years?” Ike joked. Bailey rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, I know. But still…” She trailed off, shaking her head. “I just don’t think so.”
“I’m just teasing you,” Isaac said reassuringly. “Besides, I’m sure you guys already heard the summer rules, huh?”
“Yeah,” Bailey answered. “No dating amongst the roadies.” She smirked a little, and Isaac laughed.
“Yeah, that rule sucks,” he stated. Bailey shrugged.
“Hey, not from my point of view it doesn’t. That’s Zac’s downfall right there. Although, there is a particular male intern that I wouldn’t mind getting to know a little better…” she trailed off, grinning a little.
“Oh really? And who would that be?” Ike asked, glancing over at the table where Connor and Seth were now seated. Bailey shook her head, a sparkle in her eye.
"I’m not telling!” she replied in a sing-songy voice, then she danced away. The eight of them didn’t end up leaving the club until slightly before 1 am. Lana fell asleep on Connor’s shoulder in the limo on the way back to the hotel.
“Who wants to go swimming?” Zac asked enthusiastically when they were all once again in the hotel lobby. Bailey sighed.
“Ahh, to be young and energetic,” she stated, shaking her head slightly. Zac scowled at her.
“How old are you?” he asked. She didn’t answer. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. Don’t tease me for being young.”
“Zac, let’s save the swimming for tomorrow, okay?” Isaac suggested. Zac nodded.
Lana rolled over the next morning and looked at the clock, then waited for the numbers to focus. 9:42. She rolled back over in attempt to go back to sleep, but noticed that Bailey was already awake.
“Why are you up this early? We have a few days off, and you don’t sleep in?” she questioned, sitting up in bed and rubbing her eyes.
“Well, I woke up and had to pee, when I tried to go back to sleep I couldn’t,” Bailey replied.
“What are you doing?” Lana asked.
“Drawing random designs. I figured it would pass time… Nope, definitely not,” Bailey said, laughing and throwing down her sketchbook.
“What’s on the agenda for today?” Lana questioned.
“Well, I’m not sure. We could call the guys up… all 6, not just the interns. See what everyone is up to. I heard Taylor mention a water park close by during dinner last night,” Bailey said, getting out of bed.
“Sounds cool with me,” Lana said, throwing her feet over the side of the bed, still attempting to fully wake up.
“I’m taking a shower,” Bailey said as she closed the bathroom door behind her. While waiting for Bailey to be finished in the shower, Lana stayed sitting where she was on the bed. When Bailey stepped back into the room, she saw Lana asleep sitting up. She gently knocked Lana over with a pillow, and she woke up instantly.
“What?” she asked, looking around her. Bailey smirked.
“The shower is free,” she informed her. Lana nodded slightly and blinked slowly, and once again Bailey hit her with a pillow. Lana’s eyes popped open.
"Okay! I’m up!” she shrieked, getting out of bed and picking out some clothes for the day before heading into the bathroom. After her shower, she parted her hair down the middle and French braided two pigtails, then got dressed and stepped out of the bathroom. Max, Connor, and Isaac were all sitting in the living room area watching TV. Lana gave them a weird look as she passed, and Connor raised an eyebrow at her.
“Yes? May I help you?” he asked. Lana shook her head.
“No, go on doing whatever it is that you’re doing…” she replied. When she got back into her room, Bailey was once again drawing in her sketch book. “Umm, are you aware that, like, half of the Hanson tour crew is in there watching TV?”
Bailey gave her a strange look. “Well, Isaac, Connor, and Max are here… That’s not half of the crew.”
“I know! I was overstated to make a point. Why are they in there watching TV?”
“Umm… they’re bored?” Bailey guessed. Lana rolled her eyes a little, then went to put her things away. The girls went out into the living room. They met up with the other three and went to get Seth, Tay, and Zac. They all agreed to go to a water park outside of the city for the day, then climb into a giant van and headed to the water park.
“Okay, should we split up or stay together?” Tay asked once inside the park.
“Well it depends on what everyone wants to do,” Lana said, of course being the only one with a logical explanation.
“I say we rent lockers to put our clothes in so no one takes them…” Isaac suggested.
“Good plan.” They all went to the locker rental station and got themselves lockers. Lana and Bailey both took off their clothes to reveal their bathing suits. Lana had on a blue Hawaiian print bikini, and Bailey had her cherry print black bikini on again. All the guys took off their shirts and had on normal swim trunks.
“So, who wants to do what?” Ike inquired. Everyone looked around at the surrounding attractions. Taylor paused, put his finger in the air as if he hand an idea, then ran into the gift shop. He returned a moment later with a few park maps.
“Thought these would be somewhere helpful.” He smiled, handing them all park maps. The eight of them pondered over the maps.
"Ooh, that looks fun,” Bailey stated, seeing the section of group raft rides. She looked around at everyone, mentally counting, then frowned. “Damn, we have too many people.”
“No we don’t,” Lana disagreed. “I’m more of a lazy river girl myself.”
“I’ll go with you,” Taylor offered. The two of them headed off towards the lazy river after everyone agreed to meet at a certain spot at 1:00. The other six went off in search of the group rides.
“So you’re from Boston, huh?” Tay asked when they were comfortably settled and floating around the river. Lana nodded. “Born and raised?”
“Born and raised in Cambridge, and I go to Boston College now,” Lana answered.
“Boston is cool. I always love going to play there. It’s a very… comfortable city,” Tay commented. “You’ll have to show us around when we stop there.”
“If you insist,” Lana replied with a grin. After going down each of the group rides once, the others decided to find something else to do. Zac and Max went to go down the Plunge (a slide that dropped down 30 feet). Bailey, Seth, Connor, and Isaac got in line for the green body slides. They all looked up and saw Zac and Max waiting in line for the Plunge. They waved. As the four of them watched, Zac and Max got closer and closer to the front of the line. Finally, it was their turn, and they each went to one of the two slides. A second later, Bailey and everyone started to laugh when they heard the boys scream down the slides. When they got down the green slides, Zac and Max were waiting for them. Zac was grinning.
“That was awesome!” he exclaimed. Isaac smirked.
“Yeah, it sounded like you thought that,” he replied. Then he screamed girlishly, flailing his arms as he made fun of his brother. Zac scowled.
“Yeah, well… shut up!” he retorted, not finding a sufficient comeback. At 1:00 they headed over to the picnic area to meet up with Taylor and Lana. The eight of them decided that it was time for lunch. Seeing as they didn’t think of bringing food with them, they had to buy the overpriced food at the water park. After they ate lunch, everyone stayed together lounging or swimming in the wave pool. Around 4:30 they decided to call it a day and go back to the hotel to hang out for the rest of the evening. For some reason, Lana and Bailey’s suite seemed to be the hang out spot of the hotel, because that’s were they always seemed to go to chill. After everyone had changed into regular clothes, they hung their bathing suits in the bathroom, and sat in the living room area.
“I say we order room service for dinner, I really don’t feel like going out again,” Isaac commented. Everyone else agreed, although they weren’t planning on eating dinner for another couple of hours. Max, Connor, and Seth broke out into a Grand Turismo match on the Playstation 2 that was set up with the TV. Seth sat by Max and watched the screen, informing each player of everything that they did wrong.
“You aren’t helping me!” Connor stated.
“Who said I wanted to help?” Seth laughed. Bailey sat on the smaller couch watching the boys play video games with little amusement. Taylor went and sat next to her and struck up some conversation.
“So, why did you want this internship?” he asked.
“Is this a question of interest or an interviewer?” she asked, smiling.
“Oh, of interest,” he insisted.
“Well, I’ve always loved music. I sing sometimes, not very well, but I try.” She paused. “Yeah, I am better at art, but this seemed like an awesome opportunity, so I applied. I almost didn’t get it.”
“Why not?” Taylor asked.
“Technically, I am too young. But obviously cool enough,” she laughed.
“Oh, I see.” He laughed as well. Zac glanced over at Bailey and Taylor. A feeling of jealousy washed over him as he watched his brother sit and laugh with Bailey. Lana and Ike, who had also been talking on the other couch, noticed Zac’s scowl and then looked at each other.
“Zac?” Lana asked. His scowl disappeared and he looked over at her, smiling.
“Yeah?” he replied.
"Umm, never mind. I forgot what I was gonna ask you,” Lana fibbed.
“Yeah, ok. Way to go Lana,” Zac joked, then turned back to the game. Lana had only been trying to distract him, and now turned to Isaac with a curious look. He only shrugged. About an hour later, they decided to call for room service and ordered some pizzas, French fries, onion rings, and soda.
“Mmm, I can just hear that cholesterol clogging up my arteries already,” joked Connor. Lana laughed.
“Well, at least one of the pizzas is veggie,” she said. Their food arrived about 20 minutes later and they all ate until they were full. While they were eating, they ordered the movie “Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” from Pay-Per-View. When the movie was over, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac got up to leave.
“Can’t you stay?” Bailey asked, giving them a pleading look.
“Sorry, but we’ve got some stuff to do early tomorrow morning. But we can meet you guys for lunch. How about noon at the Hard Rock Café? Then we can go for a walk through Central Park and maybe do some sight seeing?” Taylor suggested. Everyone agreed, then said goodnight to the Hansons as they exited the room. Shortly after the Hansons left, the other three males decided that they would head back to their own room as well. Bailey and Lana both silently cleaned up the living room and went into the bedroom.
“That was a fun day,” Bailey commented as she flopped backwards onto her bed.
“Yeah, you and Taylor seemed to be having a good evening,” Lana said, raising her eyebrows.
“What are you implying?” Bailey asked.
“Oh nothing…” Lana said, smiling. She got up and headed to the bathroom. “Well, I’m going to get ready for bed!”
