V Gets A Life

Ch 5

Jerry thought about his brother’s antics. Maybe the boy did have taste after all. Jax wasn’t really the type for physical confrontation. Maybe seeing Jerry shirtless in V’s apartment had knocked some sense into Jax. "What are my intentions with V? Was that the question, mate?"

Jax looked annoyed. "Your hearing is fine old man, answer the question."

Jerry smiled. Although he was somewhat worried that this distraction would make him late he hoped that he could gleam something important about his brothers feelings. If not at least he could have a little fun at Jax’ expense. He lived for that.

"Why do you want to know?" Jerry asked simply rather than answering the previous question.

"I asked you first." Jax was becoming visibly irate. At one naive point in his youth Jax felt the more he dealt with Jerry the less Jerry would succeed in getting under his skin. Jax realized, for the millionth time, he had been wrong. "What are your intentions with V?"

"My attentions towards Ms. Ardinowski are my business Jasper. Why do you feel the need to question my business?" Jerry remained perfectly calm sporting an amused grin.

"When you are walking around half naked in my friends apartments it becomes my business. I will ask again. What are your intentions towards her?" Jax cool was clearly slipping.

Jerry fought hard to keep from laughing. "Obviously I am looking for somebody who will allow me to walk around shirtless and allow me to bother her guests. What makes you think there is more than that?"

"You said something about her going out with you tonight. Was that just an attempt to bother her guest, or did she come to her senses and turn you down? Obviously you aren’t on a date with her right now."

"You expect me to take a beautiful woman out dressed like this? Didn’t I teach you anything? I am going home to change for ‘our date’."

"Oh come that was just to bother me. You aren’t really going out with her are you?"

Jerry simply nodded. "I am going home to change clothes now. You my brother are making me late."

"How did you get her to agree to that? Are you blackmailing her or something? How did you rope her into going out with you?"

"The same way I convince everybody to go out with me. I asked, she said yes, and now I have to get ready."

"Come on you expect me to believe she agreed to this. Chloe and I tried to set her up with Simon and we had to go start bargaining to convince her to go. She wouldn’t tell him where she lived. Why would she go out with you when she refused him?"

"You would have to ask her. However, if I were a betting man, and I know you are, I would say she accepted my offer because I asked. I didn’t need negotiators because I wasn’t demanding anything. A date should be a lot less complicated than peace treaty negotiations."

Jax looked hurt. For the first time he realized what he had done in the negotiations. He had forced her to be with a man she didn’t want. Regardless of what either he or Chloe felt she was an adult who was capable of making decisions on her own. "V hates tardiness you should get ready."

"You approve of my date?" Jerry asked surprised.

"Go get ready, already." Jax said as he pushed Jerry to the car. Jax realized he had to make things right. While Jerry was dressing he would apologize for the way he acted before.

Jerry knew something was up but he also knew he was pressed for time. He would investigate later. He just couldn’t believe that Jax would give in that easily. He tried to thing of explanations as he drove off.

As soon as Jerry’s car pulled out of sight, Jax made a beeline for the stairs. He knew, if things went his way, V would send Jerry packing the minute he got back. Jax knocked on V’s door and waited for his chance to fix things.
