CH 3
Jerry knew he would have to tell V the truth or at least a reasonable facsimile of the truth, still he tried to stall her while he decided exactly what to tell her. "What exactly is that you want to know?"
V looked shocked at his question. It seemed perfectly obvious to her. "I can list them in chronological order if it would be easier for you to comprehend." She said trying to keep her anger in check but failing. Suddenly it seemed like every man in Port Charles seemed to think they could control her.
Jerry sat down and used all of his energies to keep from laughing. "Chronologically would be fine." Her organizational skills never ceased to amuse him.
"Why are you standing in my room without a shirt? Why did you tell Jax we had a date? How do you know about my dressing habits? Are you stalking me? Why did you allow Jax to think we were together? Why did you keep interrupting me? Why didn’t you tell him the truth? And lastly, but most importantly, why did you kiss me?"
By the time she had finished with her string of questions she had worked up quite a bit of steam. Jerry asked himself how his brother could miss V’s fire. "I will try to answer your questions in the order I received them." He said with a large grin. "You know why I am standing here without a shirt on, you were here when I got here, remember?"
He asked the question rhetorically and was about to go on when he was interrupted. "I remember when you arrived, however, at that point you were wearing a shirt."
"Yes, and then I removed it. People do that, Luv. Everyday." Jerry said with a wide grin. He just loved messing with her.
"Not in my apartment they don’t." V said shocked by his statement.
"Well that is too bad for you. We should really work on that." Jerry said with a large grin and a deep laugh.
"I could tell you what we should work on, throwing you out of here. You said you would tell me everything. You are not living up to your end of the bargain." V said quickly becoming impatient. She really hoped that Jerry would find his shirt, as the sight of his unclothed chest was becoming a distraction.
"Yes, where were we? My shirt, right? Well, you know the story. I don’t see why I should repeat it." Jerry said. He was going to stop there to further antagonize his host, however, noting her obvious disapproval he continued. "We were downstairs enjoying a nice late lunch/early dinner. They should really have a name for that meal." Jerry offered as an aside. "Bobbie became disenchanted with my personality."
His stalling was wearing thing quickly. "I wonder why? Maybe she was trying to get information out of you too. Tell the story and quit with the editorials."
"Yes, Luv, of course." Jerry said with a laugh. All work and no play were making V a tense girl and he resolved he would make her have fun.
"Well hurry up about it." She said, there was something about the look in his eye. It was almost like Jax got. Jerry was up to something; however, with Jerry she had absolutely no clue of what to expect.
"Well, as I was saying, my charms ran thin. Bobbie felt the need to show her displeasure by tossing the contents of her iced tea at my chest. Which, by the way, you know. I came up here to dry off."
V thought about it. That is what he had said when he had knocked on the door. She had been surprised to see him. However, they had grown to be friends since their dessert search. Letting him dry off in her apartment was the least she could do for the man who had helped find Jax and Alexis. "And you took off your shirt to help it dry faster? Okay, but how does that explain the way you were acting when Jax was here? He must think… I don’t even know what he thinks."
"Yes, Luv, that is all part of my new plan." Jerry said with wit a grin.
"And what plan is that?" She tried to sound annoyed at his manner. However, she was curious about what he had up his sleeves. Well, if he was wearing a shirt and had sleeves.
Jerry sensed that he had V at least a little intrigued. He had an advantage, now he had to use it to turn the tables on her. He would put this conversation on his grounds. "You want to learn about my plan? That will cost you an evening. Come to dinner with me. I didn’t get a chance to eat earlier."
"Undoubtedly because you did something horrible. What is it exactly that caused your original date to douse you with her drink? Don’t tell me you were on fire."
Jerry had to laugh. She had fire. He liked that. "To extract any more information from me, you will have to join me for dinner."
"I…" Why would she go to dinner with him? He aggravated her. Why would she put up with his company?
Before she could complete her thought and turn him down he spoke. "I have a plan I think you might be interested in. Want to know the plan?" She was dying of curiosity and he knew it. "I promise not to bite. Come to dinner. What do you say, Luv?"
