V Gets A Life

Ch 20

"I am going to get V." Jax said angrily as he tried to shake off the man.

"Where did she go?" Ned asked confused. "Isn’t she coming with us?"

"She was. Let go of me, Ashton." Jax demanded as he tried to get out of the grip. He needed to get to V. He needed to set things straight.

"What happened?" Alexis asked with a glance at Simon. Alexis assumed that he had gotten a little overzealous.

"Yes, what happened Jax? Why is everybody standing in the hall? Where is V?" Chloe asked as she stepped into the hall.

Jax groaned. She would be gone by now. "She left." He repeated.

"Why would she do that? She has a date with Simon." Chloe said confused.

"Maybe she thought better of going out with him." Ned offered. He didn’t know Simon well, but what he knew he didn’t like. Simon was not the man for V.

"Don’t be like that, Ned." Chloe complained. It seemed like everybody was trying to keep Simon and V apart.

"Everybody stop." Jax demanded. His head throbbed. He lost the woman he loved. He was scheduled to perform in an hour and nobody seemed to be helping.

"We just want to know what is going on." Alexis responded. "We will stop when you tell us what Simon did."

Simon was getting indignant. Why did everybody assume it was his fault? "I would never hurt Venus."

"If it wasn’t you, then who?" Ned asked. Who could irritate V enough to make her back out on a commitment. "What did you do Jax?"

--

V stepped in to the elevator and let out a sigh of relief. Knowing that Jax and Alexis were meeting everybody at the penthouse on the way to the ball, V worried she would run into one of them. As he pressed the down button she felt the first tears running down her cheeks.

"Great!" She exclaimed sarcastically. Now she would look like she had been crying. She hated appearing weak and vulnerable. Now she didn’t have much choice. "What do I do now?" She asked herself as the elevator reached the lobby.

--

Jerry groaned. "You sure you want to know, Bobbie?"

"I am positive, Jerry. Talk to me." Bobbie prodded.

"Jax came by her apartment to set up another date with her and Simon. She needed an excuse to turn him down. I offered myself as that excuse."

"Why were you there?" Bobbie asked a little confused.

"You expected me to go home without cleaning up? You drenched me." Jerry said with a lighthearted grimace.

"You deserved it." Bobbie retorted.

"I usually do." Jerry answered with a nod. "Anyway, I went to V’s apartment to dry off. When I heard Jax trying to intrude on V’s life, I intercepted on her behalf. It was the least I could do."

"You told him you had a date with her. Then you took her out. What happened on the boat?"

"You are really curious today. We ate, we listened to the music, we talked…. Nothing really." Jerry sighed as he remembered the evening.

"Nothing? Try again."

"Nothing. I want Jasper to be happy. I want them both to be happy. I want him to stop seeing the dumb model type. V is perfect." God, she was perfect in every way. He couldn’t keep his mind off of her.

"Perfect for whom, Jerry? It seems like she stole your heart pretty fast. Maybe that means something." Bobbie watched his reaction. She was pushing but she hoped it would help him come to terms with his feelings.

"Maybe it does. But Jasper got a clue. I can’t take her when he is so close to doing something about it. He does plan to tell her, right?" Jerry asked hoping the answer was no. Yet, he instinctively knew the answer was yes.

"Yes he does. He plans to do it tonight, at the ball." Bobbie watched the pained expression on Jerry’s face.

"I have perfect timing as always." Jerry said with a light sarcastic tone. He hoped his attempt to play off his pain was working.

"Jerry, can I give you some advice?" Bobbie asked unsure if he would accept it.
