Cha 18
Inside the penthouse, Jax couldn’t believe what he had heard. He asked Chloe why she was so interested in Simon and V. He never expected her answer.
"Well they are perfect for one another." Chloe began. She certainly couldn’t tell Jax she was trying to get rid of two birds with one stone. She had known Simon for years; however, things were changing between them.
"What do you mean they are perfect for one another? He is an irresponsible playboy. V obsesses over her work." The more Jax thought about this coupling the more he knew it was a bad idea.
"They could even one another out. She loosens up a little. He learns some responsibility. It is a win-win situation."
"Do you really think they need it? V gets along all right."
Chloe scoffed. She really wanted V out of the way. Chloe saw how V looked at Jax; and how much he respected her. Chloe wanted V gone before Jax realized what he had. Simon wanted to settle down. Chloe wanted V settled down. It was a perfect combination. "V needs a life. Simon can provide that."
Chloe’s statement shocked Jax. Sure V needed some excitement. He hoped to provide it for her. However, he never expected Chloe to say something like that. Chloe hardly knew V. She had no right to make that judgment. He was about to jump in to defend V when he heard a noise outside.
--.
"Venus." Came the voice from the hall.
V groaned. How had Simon figured out her name? Why did he insist on using it? "I told you not to ever use that name."
"You are aptly named after the goddess of love. It is a beautiful name, just like you, Venus."
V wanted to wretch. He was too much, way too much. "I have to go." V Tried to push past him.
"Don’t go. We have a date, remember?"
V smiled. She was hearing that a lot recently. "Unfortunately, I remember."
"Why do you want to leave?" Simon decided that if he kept her talking he had a much better chance of making her stay.
"Something came up. I can’t be out with everybody tonight." V still near the verge of tears wanted to get out before she was seen in such a vulnerable state.
"We had a deal. You would go out with me and I would stop talking about marriage."
"For once, it isn’t you. I can’t be out with Jax and Chloe." V explained.
By this time Jax had worked his way outside. "Wait V." He said softly as he thought of a way to make her stay.

"I have no idea of what you are talking about, Jerry." Bobbie feigned innocent.
"How did you know I went out last night? Last time we talked, I had no intention of going." Jerry asked with a grin. Maybe his plan was working, already.
"You wouldn’t waste all that money on tickets." Bobbie tried.
"I would waste money on anything. You know that, Bobbie. Try the truth this time."
"I called you. Nobody answered. I assumed you went. Am I wrong?" Bobbie lied. How could she tell Jerry she was spying on him as a favor to Jax?
"Have you been spending too much time with Carly? We have to do something about that. You have picked up her habit of lying. You don’t do it as well, though." Jerry taunted.
Bobbie groaned. "Why do you think I am lying?" She was; but the fact he knew irritated her.
"You always leave messages. You are also blushing. Tell the truth." Jerry smiled at her defeat.
"Fine, you win." Bobbie said as she threw a towel at him. "Jax told me."
"Why would he tell you that?" Jerry feigned innocence.
"He was concerned about your guest?" Bobbie admitted.
"Concerned? What did he think would happen?" The situation amused Jerry. He tried to tell himself the disappointment he felt was due to the ease with which Jax got a clue.
"He worried you would take advantage of her. I told him you would be honorable. I didn’t lie, did I?" Bobbie asked with a curious smile.
"That is why he told you? There has to be something more." Jerry probed her for more information.
"I can’t tell you." Bobbie said softly, hoping it would fly.
