Chapter 20 Brenda: He’s dead! Sonny: I swear to you, I didn’t do anything that would have killed him, Brenda. Brenda: I believe you. Sonny walks to where Brenda is still leaning over the body, he takes her hand and leads her to a couch beside the office desk. The minute he takes her wrist he can feel her pulse racing. He can tell by the lack of color in her face that she is going into shock Sonny: Woah, baby, your heart is beating a mile a minute, are you hurt? Brenda: No, I’m cold. He sits down beside her and places his arms around her, she is shaking almost uncontrollably. He takes off his jacket and drapes it around her shoulders. She can’t help but look over at the body lying on the floor. Sonny takes her head gently in his hands and forces her to look at him. Sonny: What were you doing here? Brenda: I wasn’t Lois and I were walking back to Kelly’s. Sonny: Alone? Brenda: Uh-hu. I forgot about Lois! He hit her and left her out there, I have to go help her! Brenda tries to stand up, but she can’t feel her legs. Sonny: You’re in no condition to help anyone. Brenda: Lois is out there alone, hurt. She bursts into tears and her eyes dart back to the corpse. Sonny: I’m sure that Lois is fine. Brenda: What did he want from me? Sonny: I don’t know, but we can’t stay here, let me take you some place else. Brenda: *Giving him a weak smile* I’ll be fine. Sonny: I’m not, *lying* I never realized how small this office was. Brenda gives him a look, as if to say that she doesn’t believe him, but she appreciates what he is trying to do. Sonny knew she would be fine or he would have picked her up and carried her out of the room. Instead, he was giving her a choice, she could stay or she could go and pretend it was for his benefit. Brenda: If you would really feel more comfortable somewhere else. Sonny doesn’t need to answer her, they exchange information with a look that passes between them. She reaches out her hand to him and he helps her up and unlocks the door before leading her out of the office. He flicks a switch and the lights come on in the warehouse. Brenda is still a little unsteady on her feet, so, Sonny helps her to sit on a pile of bags of coffee beans. With the lights on and Sonny holding on to her, Brenda decides that the warehouse is not really a very sinister place. Sonny: Okay, sweetheart, now that we can both breath, tell me again, did he hurt you? Brenda: No, I’m just scared. Sonny: *Kissing her on the forehead* It’s all right he can’t hurt you anymore. Brenda can’t look Sonny in the eyes. Sonny: What is it baby? Brenda: *Whispering* He didn’t scare me, you did. Sonny: *Puzzled* How did I frighten you? Brenda: You were so violent, Sonny, you wouldn’t listen to me. I’ve never seen you that angry. Sonny: I can’t stand to see a woman abused in any way, you know that. Brenda: I know that it is important to you that women are respected. Sonny: Especially you, Brenda. Brenda: Why am I so special? Sonny runs his hands through his hair and tried to figure out how she could ask that question? She must know how he felt about her, how special she was to him, how he felt responsible for her safety. Sonny: Come on Brenda, your the woman…………. he stops himself from saying that she is the woman he loves, what good would those words be when he couldn’t back them up with actions. To Sonny, actions had always been important, even more so than words at times. This was one of those times, if he couldn’t say the words he would still let her know somehow that he cared. Sonny: We are friends, Brenda. I look out for my friends. Brenda: I see. Then to herself Brenda: *Silently* Would it have killed you to say it, Sonny. Is it so hard to admit that you love me? To Brenda, words were important, especially when they were those three big words from Sonny. He didn’t tell to many people that he loved them, so when he uttered that phrase it was a big event. Sonny: I’m sorry I scared you. Brenda: It’s okay, you caught me off guard. Sometimes you have so much anger inside of you, Sonny. Sonny: I’m not angry at you, I could never turn my anger on you, Brenda. Brenda: I know. Sonny: *Sounding distant* Do you really? Brenda: Of course, you would never hurt a woman. Neither of them really seems convinced of this, they seem to be repeating a phrase that held true at one point in time and convincing themselves that it is still a fact. These are feelings that they both share and feel strongly about, yet they put those feelings aside to concentrate on the problem of the moment. Brenda: Sonny, I want you to know that I don’t think you killed that man. Sonny: It means a lot to me that you believe me about his death. Brenda: I know that there is some other reason for his death. Sonny: Whatever was in that vial killed him. Brenda: That has to be it, otherwise you killed a man in cold blood. Sonny: Wait a minute, I was defending you! Brenda: No, I saw the look in your eyes, that wasn’t defense, that was pure adrenaline. Sonny: I told you how I feel about men who abuse women. Brenda: If that man hadn’t commuted suicide, you would have killed him in cold blood. Sonny: Would that have been so bad? Bastards like that don’t deserve to live. Brenda: That is not your decision to make, I never could have accepted his death at your hands. Sonny: I’m glad it didn’t come to that. Brenda: Me too, but just for the record, that look in your eyes was what scared me so badly. Sonny lets out a sigh, he really was sorry that he frightened Brenda. However, what she was describing didn’t seem real to him, he didn’t really remember what he was feeling at the time or how his temper had escalated. He does feel shame at his actions, the way that she saw them. Now, he tries to become tender once again, to shift the discussion away from him and back onto Brenda. Sonny: Can you tell me what happened in here before you came into the office? Brenda: *Tears flow again* I can’t! Sonny: *Wiping her tears tenderly with his thumbs* Don’t you remember? Sonny knew that there was a chance that Brenda was in shock and really didn’t know what happened before she wondered into the office. Brenda: Yes, I remember, but it is going to make you angry. Sonny: You are scared of me? Brenda: No, I’m really not, but I did something you have told me not to do a thousand times. Sonny: Why would be angry at you Brenda? We all make mistakes, Brenda: I know better though, Lois and I shouldn’t have been walking alone on the docks. Sonny tries not to let any angry show through in his voice when he asks the next question. Sonny: *With measured control in his voice* Where was Ned? Brenda: Brooke was asleep in the car and he wanted to get home. Sonny: *Truthfully* That makes sense. Brenda: You are angry though, because I did something that you have told me not to do? Sonny: You aren’t a child, Brenda. I’m angry, at the situation, but not at you, sweetheart. Brenda: I know it was a bad idea for us be on the docks, but we only stopped for a minute. Sonny: It is okay, you should be able to go where every you want when you want. Brenda couldn’t help smiling. After all this was coming from a man that had gone to a lot of trouble to have her temporary passport revoked so she couldn’t leave the country. Brenda: *Smiling* As long as I don’t want to go to Paris, right? Sonny: *Signing* I admitted that was a wrong move. Brenda was desperately trying to change the subject and to prevent Sonny from asking her about the attack. She didn’t want Sonny to know about Chavez, as she had told Ned, she didn’t remember too much of what happened while she was on the island. All she knew about Chavez was that she had woken up one morning in the same bed as him where she knew didn’t belong. How could she share something like that with Sonny, what would he think of her if he knew the truth? What Brenda hadn’t stopped to consider was that a few minutes earlier Sonny had been willing to die for her or kill for her as the moment needed. The foundation on which that level of devotion was built was going to be nearly impossible to crack. Sonny was about to press her to tell him what happened on the docks, but at that moment, Jason walks up carrying Brenda’s teddy bear. Brenda lets out a nearly silent sigh of relief. Jason: Does this belong to you? Brenda: What happened to Lois? Jason: I’ll take that as a yes. I found her and the bear on the docks. Sonny: Is Cerullo okay? Jason: She will be, I called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. Brenda: I want to go with her! Jason: Are you hurt? Brenda: Not really. Jason: Then you will have to wait, because she is already on her way the General Hospital. Sonny: I can drive you to the hospital. It took Brenda less than a second to realize that being alone with Sonny would mean plenty of time for him to ask her about the attack. Brenda: I’ll take a cab, you have other problems to deal with. She indicates the office. Sonny: You’re right about the other problem, but you won’t take a cab. Sonny pulls out his cell phone and calls Johnny, telling him to go with Brenda to the hospital. Brenda: We still have to call a cab, though. Sonny: Not necessarily. Sonny throws her the keys to Hannah’s Porsche into Brenda’s hand, trying to ignore Jason’s all knowing look. Sonny: You had better drive, Johnny doesn’t like to drive a manual. Brenda: What kind of car? Sonny: a Porsche, you know how to drive one don’t you? Brenda: I think I can handle it. Jason: I hate to interrupt your travel plans, but what about the police? Brenda: They only have to be called in if Ned shows up at the hospital. Jason: He is probably already there, Lois was calling him while we waited for the ambulance. Sonny: Lois was conscious? Jason: I think it takes more than a knock on the head to make Lois loose consciousness Sonny: You are probably right. Brenda: I suppose if the police ask I’ll have to tell them the man took me into a warehouse. Sonny: This one is the nearest one to the bench where Lois was attacked. Jason: The cops will take any chance they can get to search this place. Brenda: Do you have anything to hide? Jason: A few things may be a little hard to explain. Sonny: That corpse in the office is weighing heavily on my mind at the moment. Jason: What corpse? Sonny: The man that attacked Lois and Brenda. Jason: Okay, we can take care of this, given enough time. Brenda: How long do you need? Jason: An hour at least. Brenda: I’ll make sure you have at least 2 hours. Jason: what are you going to say to the police? Brenda: Stalling them should be easy, you guys have the hard part. Sonny gives her a look that is a mix of surprise and admiration, she didn’t have to cover for them. The fact that she was willing to do it, with no questions asked, touched him deeply. The look that Sonny gave her didn’t escape Jason’s attention, making it even clearer to him than before, Sonny was in love with Brenda and had no business marrying Hannah. Jason: I think we should go check on the body. Sonny: He isn’t going anywhere. Brenda: I’ll just wait for Johnny over there. Jason hands her the stuffed bear and indicates for Sonny to follow him into the office. Once they are in the office, Jason gives Sonny another of his famous all knowing looks. Sonny: What? Jason: Weren’t those the keys to Hannah’s car that you just gave to Brenda? Sonny: Hannah is in Europe, she’ll never know. Jason: Sure she won’t. Sonny: Only if you tell her. Jason: You don’t think that women know when they are being cheated on? Sonny: I’m not cheating on Hannah. Jason: Maybe it isn’t cheating now, but if you two were married, it would be different. Sonny: *Perturbed* Can we just get rid of the body? Jason: Sure, but next time you want to impress Brenda, could you be more careful? Sonny: I don’t need to impress Brenda, I was protecting her from a crazed lunatic. Jason: Next time you protect Brenda, could you kill the guy outside the warehouse? Sonny: I didn’t kill him, at least I don’t think I killed him. Jason: You aren’t sure if a man died because of you or if he committed suicide? Sonny: I can’t really remember the moment that he died, Brenda says I was angry. Jason: I guess it doesn’t matter, the guy is dead. So who cares how he died? Sonny: Brenda cares, she says she could never forgive me if I killed him in cold blood. Jason: So let Brenda think that it was suicide, even if you realize that it wasn’t. Sonny: I would know the truth, it would eat me alive. I’ve never killed in cold blood before today. Jason: I still don’t think you have, I think this killed the man Jason holds up the empty vial. Sonny: What is that? He drank something out of it before he collapsed. Jason: Some kind of medical vial, maybe it held a poison? Sonny: Why would he go to all that trouble just to kill himself in my warehouse? Jason: I don’t think he came here just to kill himself, I think he was sent on a kamikaze mission. Sonny: He was an assassin? Jason: Yeah, I need to check something out? Jason goes to the main storage area of the warehouse and is relieved to find that Brenda and Johnny have already left. He walks to an area near the door and finds exactly what is looking for on the floor. He picks up the glass pieces of the first vial, the one that the assassin had tried to force on Brenda. Jason takes the pieces back to the office and puts them on the desk. Jason: There were two vials, this one was dropped on the main floor of the warehouse. Sonny: This guy was on a suicide mission. Did he really think I would be that easy to kill? Jason: Maybe, but more likely he was trying to kill Brenda. I wonder what was in these vials? Sonny: I don’t know, but I think if we find out, we may find out what this guy wanted from Brenda. Jason: Is that something you really need to know? Sonny: Hell yes! If someone is trying to kill the woman that I love, I want to know the whole story. Sonny had no trouble telling Jason that he loved Brenda, maybe because he was willing to act on those words as long as all it meant was protecting Brenda, that was all he was really concerned about, keeping Brenda safe at all costs was his main goal. Jason: In that case, I think we should leave this body where it can be found by the authorities. Sonny: I don’t follow your thinking. Jason: That way, they can run the tests on the body and they can figured out how he died. Sonny: Then we reap the benefits of their work? Jason: Exactly, it is easier to get into police records than to do the tests ourselves. Sonny: As long as it helps Brenda. Jason: Something tells me she knows more about this than she is telling. Sonny: I can try to get her to open up to me. I realized something important tonight about Brenda. Jason: She doesn’t mind covering for you? Sonny: *Smiling* Yeah, that was kind of cool. Jason: It surprised me that she didn’t ask questions about why we needed time to secure the warehouse. Sonny: I realized that I would do anything for Brenda. I would kill for her, hell, I would die for her! Jason: That is what I was afraid you were going to say. Jason simply sighs and shakes his head at the hopeless nature of his friend’s feelings for Brenda. Sonny: I know that you don’t understand my feelings for Brenda. Jason: I never used to understand why you forgave her after she wore the wire. Sonny: It is complicated, but I really didn’t have a choice, Brenda is in my blood. Jason: I get that now, I understand completely. Sonny: What enlightened you? Jason: I met Carly and I realized that some people get under your skin and you can’t shake the feelings. Sonny: Carly? Jason: Yeah, Carly. What are you going to do about Brenda, she knows something about this guy. Sonny: I’ll go to the hospital and check on Lois, then talk to Brenda and see if she will tell me what’s up. Jason: After you help me dump this body on Moreno’s turf? Sonny: *Dimples flaring* Right! Chapter 21 Brenda and Ned were waiting for Lois to be examined, nearby, Lt. Taggert is waiting for Lois to make a statement and trying to keep an eye on Brenda. Meantime Johnny is keeping an eye on Taggert and Ned has insisted that Brenda tell him about what happened in the warehouse. She couldn’t lie to him, so she told him everything that happened, leaving off the part about her attacker dying, of course. Ned: The man who attacked you was a follower of Juan Marco Chaves? Brenda: That was what he indicated. Ned: You have to go to the police with this, Brenda. Brenda: What am I supposed to tell the police? Ned: Well, that you knew Chaves would be a good place to start. Taggert: I would be very interested hearing this story. Brenda gives Ned a aggravated look. Brenda: Are you a reporter now? Taggart: Very funny, I see dying hasn’t improved your sense of humor? Brenda: I was presumed dead. Taggert: Right, what were you doing during that time, and what does it have to do with Chavez? Brenda: *Innocent* Who’s Chavez? Taggert: Fine, lets start with something easy, what happened tonight? Brenda: Lois and I were on the docks minding our own business, when we were accosted. Taggert: What were the two of you doing out, alone, after dark? Brenda: Lois was walking with me back to Kellys. Ned: I’m afraid that it was partially my fault, I shouldn’t have let them walk alone. Taggert: You’ve got that right, now go ahead, Ms. Barrett. Brenda: We stopped on a bench, to talk, the man came up, hit Lois and dragged me into a warehouse. Taggert: You stopped at the bench where Ms. Cerrulo was found by Mr. Morgan? Brenda: I suppose so, I just know that it was close to a warehouse, the one he took me into. Taggert: Would that by any chance be the C&M coffee warehouse. Brenda: I didn’t notice the name. Brenda was desperate to avoid giving Taggert to many details, just in case Jason and Sonny needed more time. She could see that Johnny was on the phone, presumably, with either Sonny or Jason. She would wait until he gave her some kind of sign, before she admitted anything to Taggert. Taggret: *Condescending* Was there by any chance coffee in the warehouse? Brenda: I was under a little bit of pressure, I wouldn’t have noticed nuclear weapons in the warehouse! Taggert writes something down in his case book and then, crosses it off the page. Brenda glances over at Johnny, who has hung up the phone. He nods at her, giving her an all clear signal. Brenda lets out a sigh of relief. Taggert: So he took you into the warehouse, than what happened? Brenda: He started babbling something about how I must die. Taggert: Did he have a gun? Brenda: No, just a vial of liquid that he tried to get me to drink. Taggert: a drug of some kind? Brenda: I don’t know, but I wasn’t going to drink it. I got away from him and ran to the warehouse office. Taggert: Why didn’t you run outside for help? Brenda: I saw a light on in the office. I guess it was Sonny’s warehouse, because he was in the office. Taggert: Did Corinthos kill the man? Brenda: Of course not, the guy followed me to the office, but when he saw Sonny, he ran off. That was the story that she had told Ned, the attacker saw Sonny and ran off, she only hoped that she could pass that information on to Sonny before Taggert got around to grilling him as well. It would help if her and Sonny had the same ending to the story. Taggert: Why didn’t you call the police? Brenda: *Truly* I was worried about Lois. Taggert: I’m sure your friend will be fine. Brenda: She is still in the examining room, it shouldn’t take that long. Taggert: Why don’t you do both yourself and your friend a favor and tell me the whole story? Brenda: I’m sure that Lois will back me up and Sonny will too, because I know you’ll talk them. Taggert: Ms. Cerullo is next on my list. Ned: Hasn’t she been through enough detective? You can wait until morning. Taggert: We’ll see, that depends on how cooperative I find Ms. Barrett. Brenda: I don’t know what else I can tell you that the others can’t. Taggert: I think you can tell me what this all has to do with Juan Marco Chavez? Brenda gives him an innocent look. Anything she were to tell the police would end up plastered all over the front page for the whole world, including Sonny, to "read all about." The people she cared about would want to know why she was sleeping next to a now-dead South American cult leader? She couldn’t answer that question at the moment, but they would think that she just didn’t want to admit to being the concubine of a religious fanatic. While Brenda is trying to evade Taggert’s questions, Sonny and Jason walk into the emergency room. They spot Johnny and walk over to him. Sonny: Anything going on? Johnny indicates the area where Taggert is busy grilling Brenda. Sonny: Damn! How long has that been going on? Johnny: About 20 minutes. Jason: Why didn’t you let us know about it sooner? Johnny: You were busy, besides she seems to be holding her own against Taggert. Jason: What makes you so sure that she isn’t just selling us out? Sonny: I don’t think so. Jason: You are hardly objective when it comes to Brenda. Sonny: Maybe not, but I know that look that Taggert gets when he is frustrated. Jason: Taggert does look kind of upset, lets hope Brenda is covering for us and doing a good job. Sonny: She’ll do fine. Sonny starts to walk over to Taggert and Brenda. Jason: Wait a second, what are you going to do? Sonny: I’m going to make it clear to Taggert that he can’t get to me through Brenda! Jason: *Under his breath* Jumping to her defense is really going to teach him a lesson. He exchanges a worried look with Johnny. Jason: Why does Brenda always end up being more trouble than she is worth? Johnny: She is worth it to him. He indicates Sonny. Jason: Sometimes I can’t help but wonder why he puts himself through it all, for Brenda? Johnny: I don’t know, maybe you should ask her? Johnny indicates Carly, who has just walked into the room and is headed over to him and Jason. Jason sighs under his breath, he loves her dearly, but sometimes she seems to be underfoot to much of the time. Carly: Hi Johnny. Johnny: Carly. Carly: *Smiling* Jace, I didn’t know that you would be here. She kisses him on the cheek. Jason: I’ll bet you didn’t know. Carly: Okay, so maybe I made an educated guess, because I knew that you found Lois. Jason: Actually I came here with Sonny, not with Lois. We had something to take care of first. Carly: Is anything wrong? Jason: Not really, but I’ll tell you about it at home later. Carly: Okay, sure. Jason told Carly almost everything and sometimes he even asked for her advice on certain matters. That was just how their relationship worked. Of course, sometimes Carly gave unsolicited advice as well. The main thing that Jason had to worry about was keeping Sonny and Carly out of each others way. Jason: Which reminds me, didn’t I call you about 30 minutes ago to tell you I would be home soon? Carly: Yes you did, but you didn’t tell me anything else, except about Lois being attacked. Jason: So you decided to come out alone in the cold night to check on me? Carly: Partially, but I’m also here to find Ned. Jason: Ned? Carly: Edward insists that he needs to speak with him before tomorrow’s board meeting. Jason: Ned is over there, but I don’t think you are going to get him to leave before Lois is released. Carly: How bad is she? Jason: She seemed all right, she was even conscious when I found her. Carly: How long has she been in the examination room? Jason: About an hour. Carly: Maybe they are really busy. Jason: Maybe. Carly looks over at Ned and, for the first time, notices Brenda. Carly: Oh my god! That really is Brenda Barrett? Jason: The one and only. Carly: I had heard that she was alive, is she still insane? Jason: That that you’re one to talk, but I guess she is sane, maybe a little confused though. Taggert looks up from his case book to find Sonny standing over him, giving the lieutenant one of his patented death stares. Taggert: Corinthos, I was wondering when you would jump to your girlfriend’s defense. Sonny: You’re living in the past, Brenda isn’t my girlfriend, I’ve moved on, so should you. Sonny catches the look of surprised disappointment on Brenda’s face, and tries not to cringe. Taggert: Perhaps you are correct, I’m sorry to have bothered you Ms. Barrett. Brenda: No harm done, detective. Taggert: Lieutenant, Ms Barrett. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a phone call to make. Sonny: See ya. Taggert: Yes you will, Corinthos, because I’m going to want to talk to you in a few minutes. Ned: *To no one in particular* I’m going to go check on Lois. Ned and Taggert leave in separate directions, Sonny notices that Jason moves a little closer to Taggert to try and listen in on the conversation. He also notices that Carly is hanging around, which after the evening that he has had is the last thing that he would wish for. There was a particular kind of headache that came with being around Carly, and Sonny was in no mood to deal with that kind of inconvenience. For her part, Brenda didn’t even notice Carly, what she was very much aware of what that with Taggert and Ned gone, she was that Sonny and her were alone together. Of course, they weren’t really alone, the emergency room was filled with people. However, they were pretty much face to face in a confined area and he seemed to be looking everywhere but at her. She has to practically will him to face her, but when he finally does, she can tell by the look in his eyes that the rest of the world ceases to exist. When he looks at her, he gives her his full attention, which leaves Brenda feeling like, to Sonny at least, she is the most important person in the room. It all comes from his eyes, which are completely focused on her with a look that speaks of interest and maybe even adoration. This look is completely opposite to the what Sonny has just told Taggert about not being connected to Brenda. Sonny: Are you okay? Brenda: Yeah, sure are you? Sonny: I’m not the one that was grilled by Taggert for the last 30 minutes. Brenda: I can handle him. Sonny: So I’ve heard, maybe you could give me lessons on handling him? Brenda: Well, first of all, we should get our stories straight about what happened at the warehouse. Sonny: That might be a good idea what did you tell Taggert? Brenda: I told Taggert that I didn’t know the warehouse belonged to you, not that it really matters. Sonny: It probably doesn’t, I’m sure he mainly wants to know what happened in the office. Brenda: Right, I told him that the attacker followed me to the office, then ran when he saw you. Sonny: Good thinking, I don’t know how to thank you for covering for me. Brenda: You didn’t kill that guy Sonny, but Taggert would drag you downtown anyway. Sonny: I could have handled it if he did. Brenda: I know, but you spent so much time taking care of me, I figured I owed you. Sonny: You don’t owe me, sweetheart, but your story works pretty well with what we did. Brenda: With the body, you mean? Because if so, I don’t want to know. Sonny: You’ll probably find out soon enough, so just don’t be too surprised when you read it. Brenda: *Shocked* You put it where the police will find it? Sonny: I want them to try and figure out what this guy wanted, unless you know something? Brenda: *Lying* No, I’m as much in the dark as you or anyone else. Sonny knew she was lying, there was more to this than she was willing to share, but what could he do? For some reason she didn’t feel comfortable sharing what she knew with him. He couldn’t beat it out of her or scare it out or even sweet talk her into letting him in, so he would have to wait until she was willing to open up to him. Meantime, he was going to have to try and protect her, based on the limited amount of information he did have. Sonny: You don’t trust me? Brenda: This isn’t really about trust. Sonny: Okay, if you say so, but it will be much easier to protect you if I know what is happening. Brenda: It isn’t your job to protect me, Sonny. You’ve moved on, remember? She gives him a look of absolute devastation. When he told Taggert that, his main goal had been to save Brenda from harassment. He had considered his words very carefully or weighted the impact that they might have on Brenda. He hadn’t meant to hurt her or alienate her in anyway. After all, he loved her, but partially through his own efforts, Brenda couldn’t see that. He had to reach out to her, but he wasn’t sure how. When Brenda doesn’t get a reaction out of him, she becomes perturbed and impatient. Sonny can see clearly that she is upset, it is written all over her beautiful. In a perfect world, he would reach up and takes her face in his hands and draw it close to his own. Then he would kiss her with such precision and passion that he wouldn’t that he wouldn’t need a lot of words to convey his feelings. However, in a perfect world, Taggert wouldn’t be watching him for contradictions between when he says he feels for Brenda and what he really feels. Also, Carly wouldn’t be lurking around watching from the sidelines when he and Brenda shared that perfect kiss, nobody else needed to witness such an expression of love and desire. Brenda: *Perturbed* I’m going to go check on Lois and Ned. She stands up and is about to leave, but Sonny stops her by placing his hand gently on her arm. Sonny: Brenda, wait. Brenda: Wait for what Sonny? Sonny: Just give me a minute okay?
