The Weakest Link

My Grandchildren are NOT Netherandrals with 4 foot long arms and legs over 1050mm long, neither are they dumb enough to even attempt any of the ridiculous scenarios suggested by the POOL POLICE in trying to get past the Pool Fence, but they are intelligent enough to get past the one barrier which PASSED Inspection.

This Gate was APPROVED by the Inspector, but it is the ONLY way any of my Grandchildren has broken into the Pool Area.
My 5 year old Granddaughter took just 39 seconds to open it by wrapping her toes around the vertical bars and reaching up to lift the latch and shoulder her way in.

And this 4 year old rode his trike up and used it to reach the Approved Latch.
He didn't even need to use his Junior Spiderman Rappelling Kit or his 4 foot long arms to climb across the 10mm wire mesh and then jump from the top of the fence.
And if his Trike wasn't handy, he could as easily dragged a nearby chair or bucket over to achieve the same thing.

The REAL issue is no longer about protecting the lives of children. It's about POWER.
"I have the authority to make you do as I say"
It's PREPOSTEROUS to suggest that a kid could use the12mm Diam Hinge Pin as a STEP. It's simply an excuse to FAIL your first inspection and make you to comply with this idiotic Rule and force a re-inspection.
These people pretend to be Knights in Shining Armour - Here to protect the little Children, but instead they're here for their own EGO Trip and with a little bit of authority to bully us Pool Owners who are trying to do the right thing.

If they were SERIOUS about Pool Safety for Children, there are plenty of things they could introduce to make Pools safer such as;
Our pool has a 100mm ledge or a 300mm seat/step around the entire perimeter, 500mm below the coping which allows easy exit to any non-swimmers - Toddlers or Adults.
Making our pool virtually DROWN PROOF.
But these Bureaucrats would no doubt try to enforce these measures RETROSPECTIVE and use them as an excuse to RE-INSPECT all the pools since 1993.

Yes - Improving the DESIGN of Future Pools could REALLY improve SAFETY, but then it's Not really about SAFETY anymore is it?
They prefer to treat us all as Criminals who are trying to "Put one over on them".

They rightly DESERVE their BAD REPUTATION - They've EARNED IT.
