Reading is a favorite pasttime of mine. Yes, an escape. Reading encourages me, teaches me, delights me, and many times saves me. Many people do not read enough. Do I read too much? No, because it is impossible for anyone to read too much.
How long has it been since you read a good book? Go to the library or bookstore today and find a book that will touch your soul. Maybe a classic from that high school Lit class, or the current bestseller you've been hearing about. Read! Read! Read!
Virginia Woolf believed that women who read will carry their books with them to heaven! She envisioned us at the Pearly Gates with books in tow, and God remarking to St. Peter, "Look, these need no reward. We have nothing to give them here. They have loved reading."
Here, then, is a list of my favorite authors, and their books on my bookshelves...
Kind of makes you wonder why Louisa May Alcott wrote books at all if she believed they might "turn" our brains! As for me, I'm happiest when I am reading and my brain is being "turned!" When I read, my brain indeed "turns" ~ it turns me on to my passion and to pursuing my passion. Reading turns my brain on to people, places, events, and times which leave a profound mark upon my heart.

This is where it all started, my love for poetry ~ Rod McKuen, in the late 60's and 70's when I was in high school. His poetry was relevent to the times, and it led me to a deep appreciation of poetry and eventually to a love of classic poetry.
Another favorite from my young adult years.
