Moriya was born with excellent talent in swordsmanship and was accepted to learn under a respected swordsman. It was only a few years later that Moriya excelled even the swordsman. Moriya respected the swordsman also for the fact that he was given not only sword skills, but also a family. But one day when Moriya was 17, he quickly realized that he was standing in front of the dead body of the man he respected most. Five years later, Moriya travels to pay for his past, and thus journeys to seek whatever is waiting for him.

Moriya's past followed him on his journey as Kaede, his foster brother, pursued him to avenge their adopted father Gaisei. They clashed near Hell's Gate and Kaede was the victor. After Hell's Gate was sealed, Moriya regained his memory of the day on which Gaisei died and that he had been slain by Kagami.

After the incident with Kagami, Moriya, cursing his inexperience, once again left on a journey to train. One day, half a year later, Moriya felt an incredible desire to return home. However, the "home" to which he was drawn was not his own, but rather that of a great evil. With dark clouds rising, and unanswered questions brimming within him, Moriya once again turns to Hell's Gate for the truth. And ultimately, reconciliation with his past.
