We're all part of the same family
When people of a different race move into your neighborhood, do you say things like "Well, there goes the neighborhood"? Or when you're children are out playing in the yard, and you see a person of a different race walking down the road, do you make the kids come inside? When a person of a different race comes to your church, do you feel they don't belong there? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than you are having trouble with racism. So many people today discriminate against people because of the color of their skin. Let me give you a few examples of what I am talking about. I'm sure you are familiar with stories like this.
Okay, a white family is driving down the road taking a little leisure ride. They decide to ride through a few neighborhoods to look at the houses, or whatever. It's kinda hot outside so they have their windows rolled down. Since they have their windows down, they leave their car doors unlocked too. They turn down this one street and find out it is a white neighborhood, and they slow down and look around. They pull out of that neighborhood and drive into another one. They soon see that it is a black neighborhood, and immediately they roll up their car windows and lock the doors, and leave the neighborhood. Why do they do this? A black neighborhood is no different from a white neighborhood...
Another example. 2 men that live in different places in the same town both decide they want to go jogging, one white, one black. It is dark outside because it is kinda late. A lot of people like to jog at night because they are embarrassed to have people see them jogging. The white man goes jogging down the road. A policeman happens to ride by and sees the white man jogging. It just so happens that he is jogging by a bank when the cop sees him. The cop will more than likely think nothing of it and keep going. The black man is also out jogging late at night. He has just jogged by a bank when a policeman happens to ride by on his route. He sees the black man jogging, already having passed the bank, and the cop will more than likely think he is up to something. Why would the cop feel that way? There is no difference between a white man jogging at night and a black man jogging at night...
I am in no way a racist, and I have nothing against anyone regardless of race. I am just simply pointing out something that happens around the world every day. It's sad that some people hate each other because the other person looks different than we do. Now would like to share with you a few verses from the Bible. I would like to share with you now Matthew 22: 34 - 40:
34 After Jesus made the Sadducees look foolish, The Pharisees heard about it and got together.
35 One of them was an expert in the Jewish law, So he tried to test Jesus by asking,
36 "Teacher, what is the most important commandment in the law?"
37 Jesus answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind.
38 This is the first and most important commandment.
39 The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, "Love others as much as you love yourself."
40 All the Law of Moses and the books of the Prophets are based on these two commandments.
Verse 39 tells us to love others as much as we love ourselfs. I see nowhere in there where it says to love others as long as their skin is the same color as ours. It simply says love others as much as we love ourselves, which means we are supposed to love everyone regardless of skin color, sex, weight, height, appearance, age and so on... So many people today think that just because someone looks different that they can treat them any way they want, but what does the Bible say? So, the next time you see someone who has a different color skin than you do, instead of looking at tem as the enemy, look at them with God's eyes and love them as he would. There will be many different types of people i heaven, so you need to love them as they are down here on earth.
One last thing I would like to share with you is the words of a song by DCtalk that I really like. The Title of the song is "Walls" .
Man against man just ain't the plan
It's time for God's people to take a stand
I mean brother to brother, black to white
Stand up to the problem and begin to fight
Not against each other, you're wastin time
Yo, I'm referring to a battle of minds
Not through debate or writing on the walls
This kinda action is delayin' the cause
An eye for an eye, fight fire with fire
It's our turn to take it one step higher
Gotta live by example, show brotherly love
We're together on earth, we'll be together above
So we're
Tearin' down the walls
Of segragation
Unity abroad
In every nation
To label churches by color ain't nothing but wrong
We're in the same crew, we're singing one song
If you're in God's army that makes you my kin
Yo, our common bond is the father of men
Of all attributes that we should posses
Love is in the word ahead of all the rest
No negotiation to love a certain nation
All means all, with no descrimination
Boy, we can set a precedence the world can cop
Yo, fellow believer
Now's the time to stop
Racism within our lines
Today is the time for this love to shine
So we're
Tearin' down the walls
Of segragation
Unity abroad
In every nation
Judge a man by his heart not color of skin
God views a man by whats held within
And you're called one of his
So you gotta know
To be like Christ is the way that you go
And my Brothers and Sisters in one accord
Yo, we're the sheep and the shepherd's the Lord
So whether black sheep, white sheep, or even swirl
God watches over all the sheep of the world
So tell me wha' sup when you know the command
The word's bold "Love your fellow man"
And treat him like you would treat yourself
Pull brotherly love off ya dusty shelf
Tearin' down the walls
Of segragation
Unity abroad
In every nation
Back Home
