The Western Continent, following the war between the Guylos Empire and the Helic Republic, has been split into two lands that peacefully boarder each other.  The Empire now controls the north most portion of the continent while the Republic controls the southern most portion, including the Elemia Desert region.

A small city has been built in the land-bridge between the north and south portions of the Western Continent.  It was originally established as a trade post by many merchants, but when they and their families began to set up permanent shops and homes there, it became known simply as the Trade City.  Its streets and bridges over them have been built large enough for a Gustav to move through them (at reasonable speeds), and both Empire and Republic guards check Gustavs at the gates before they enter the city to make deliveries.  The city, built approximately on the Helic/Guylos border, is considered to belong to neither nation but is protected by both.
