FFV Walkthrough - by Wingly

=======================
A: WORLD 1
=======================

----------------------
1: Beginning
Recommended Level: 1
Treasures: FenixDown
----------------------

First you see a intro seen where the king leaves on a dragon, then it switches to a pirate ship. So it switches (again) over, but now to an ‘old’ man. Then you see a meteor heading for earth, and then it’s a little scene with with a nameless guy which jumps on his Chocobo and runs out to the World Map. Now you take control over him, and you have to go north-east towards the meteor.

When you enter the nameless man tells his Chocobo, Boko, to stay put and wait for him. Follow the path too get to the next point of the game. You have to fight the two Goblins carrying Lenna, but they are very easy... They die after one hit, so just attack normally. And you get 6 EXP (Experience Points). You have to name the nameless. You can name him whatever you want, but I will call him by his initial name, Butz.

After some talking they hear sounds, and run to the rescue. Well... You have to run them to the rescue. But first go east and behind the trees. In the hard-too-see-treasure chest is a FenixDown.

------------NOTE------------
The item FenixDown cost so much as 1000 GP! So is it is not an Inn or a possibility to use a tent nearby then it REALLY have to be an emergency before you use it!
----------------------------

Go north to reach the old man on the ground. This is Galuf. After a little talking Lenna and Galuf leaves and Butz is on his own. Now go back to your Chocobo, and go out to the World Map the same way as you came in.

Back out on the World Map go west until you come to a small passage to the north. Go north... And you will then see a scene where Boco suddenly stop. The ground falls away right under your legs, and you jump back onto Boco and continue north. You have to fight a total of four goblins, two in each fight. Do the same as before you met Lenna, and just attack them. No need to heal here.

Just run north on your Chocobo and you will automatically pick up Lenna and Galuf. After a little talk you are back onto the World Map. Just continue on the path, and into the cave.

----------------------
2: Pirate Cave
Recommended Level: 1
Treasures: Leather Helmet
----------------------

This is a good place to level up a bit, and you should. As fast as you get to the healing spring. Then your HP and MP will be healed, and you have no problems. So take your time and, as fast as you get to the spring, to fight and level up a bit. I recommend about level 3 here.

When you feel you are finished just go up the stairs. There you will see a treasure chest. Follow the path, and after watching what the pirate do go up the first staircase and then left to get the Leather Helmet. Now walk up to where you saw the pirate and do the same as him. Pull the switch. Then enter the next floor.

There just walk up and see the scene where the ship sails without wind. Then continue following the path until you get to the pirates’ headquarters.

Here there is nothing else to do than to walk over the bridge, and up to the wheels of the ship. Watch the scene...

After the long scene you’ve obtained the ship. Go north on the World Map.

You have the choice of letting someone else drive the ship until you get to the shrine, but you can steer it yourself. If it’s your first time playing the game, I recommend taking the opportunity to get to the shrine. But when you get there, you can steer the ship by yourself anyway, so you have to decide what the best thing is for you. If you decide to not go to the shrine first, you can only go to the town Tule, but that isn’t very rewarding right now. Yes, there is treasures there, but I would wait.

----------------------
3: Wind Crystal Shrine
Recommended Level: 4
Treasures: Tent, Leather Helmet, BroadSwd
----------------------

You can level up outside, and remember that in the left part of the first floor there is a pot that restores your HP and MP. So if you are a level-freak (like me) you can level up there without using any items. When you are ready to get going, you just go to the right part of the first floor and up the stairs.

On the second floor you should go past the entrance to the room in the middle, and as you pass it you should see a treasure chest there, which contains a Tent. Now, go back and into the room in the middle. You learn about Save Points in there. You can use a tent or a cottage to heal on them, and also you can save, something that is very important that you do, since it is a long game. After you have saved just continue south to get out of that room. When you get out go right and up the stairs to get a Leather Helmet (and as you can see I list the treasures after what line you get them. Of course you could get them in a different line, but it will do nothing good) Go back and then left to get to the third floor.

On the third floor you see a door (hopefully). On the spot beneath it, you can pass trough the wall, and save some time. Enter the door and get the treasure, a BroadSwd, or a Broadsword if you want. You should equip someone with it, it doesn’t matter whom, and the same with the Leather Helmet. When you are finished walk towards the big bird to start the boss battle.

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Boss: Wingraptor
HP: 250
Difficulty Level: *
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

This boss is very easy. Just attack it normally, and it will soon be defeated. But do NOT attack it when its wings are wrapped around him. The attack will not damage the boss, and it will counterattack with its claws, taking a lot of HP from the one that made the attack. But it will go down quickly, and easy. Remember: Normal attacks, unless its wings are round him. Then do NOT attack it at all.

After the battle just walk up the stairs and walk to the next stairs. Walk up until the game takes over. Watch the scene and you will get your first jobs.

These are: Monk, Knight, Black Wizard, White Wizard, Blue Wizard and Thief. The best combination now is, one White Wizard, one Black Wizard, one monk and one fighter. I give the jobs according to the person, and who that person is. You don’t have to, but I always think of females as White Wizards, and the monk is Galuf, the knight is Butz and the Black Wizard is Faris.

When you are finished giving your jobs to them, just walk behind the thing the crystal was on, and go in the swirley thingy in the back to be teleported out. Now you can choose between learning the ability system, or not. I recommend for first-time-players to read it trough, but if you have played the game before you don’t need to.

When out walk to your ship and go south. Follow the western coastline until you get to a town. Enter it and you are in Tule.

----------------------
4: Tule and the Canal
Recommended Level: 6
Treasures: 100 GP, Potion x2, Ether, FenixDown, Tent x2, 150 GP, Leather Shoes.
----------------------

This place holds a lot of items. You can find them mostly in pots and barrels so just look around a bit to find them. It’s not hard at all.

It’s not much to do here, but buy ALL the magic in the magic store, and the go outside town to get some ABP (if you watched the ability tutorial, you know what I mean). The next place is a bit tricky, but if you’ve got about level 6, it should be okay. When you have bought what you want in the shops (you don’t really need to buy anything except Potions) go to the northern house. After the scene you know that Zokk lives there, and then you can enter the house.

Inside the house walk up and an event will start all by itself. After a while you will get the Canal Key. Now you can enter the canal to the right of you. But you should level up to level 6 outside town. And then stock up on Potions. And when you are ready enter the Canal.

Once inside the Canal, you now can open the door you couldn’t unlock before. Follow the path until the game takes over. You will be forced into battle with a boss.

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Boss: Karlabos HP: 650 Difficulty Level: ** +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

This battle is also very easy. Just attack normally and you shouldn’t have any problems with it. Its worst attack is Tentacle which paralyze a character for a while, but this boss is very easy. Especially if you are on the recommended level.

---------------------- 5: Ship Gravejard Recommended Level: 9 Treasures: Flail, Tent, 990 GP, FenixDown x2, Potion, Antidote x2 ----------------------

This is a good chance to level up. There’s a free sleeping spot on the ship you are in. And the monsters give quite a bit of EXP. And they sometimes even drop Elixirs! So it is really worth it. I come back here when I have gotten away from the place and to the next village. If you want to you even can get 99 Elixirs here! Just be a little careful in the beginning since the monsters are also a bit strong. But you should be okay.

When you are ready go over the pole, and walk down. You should see a turtle shell there. Press A there to reveal a long line of them. Follow that jumping path until you get to a treasure chest containing a Flail.

Now jump back and walk up till the place you were. Now you need to go right and walk up. You see a door to your right after a while, and you can’t walk further up, so walk one step right and in the door.

Walk around, and follow the path until you get to a staircase. Walk down it. You now are on the floor beneath the one you just were on (like that wasn’t logical). Enter the room in the middle and get the tent. Walk back and go trough the door beneath the staircase. Walk downwards until the game takes over. Watch the sequence and walk down into the water. You see the staircase in the water leading down? Well, walk down it. If you don’t see it just walk around at the bottom of the water until you get teleported. Then you know you have found it.

When you have gotten there ‘talk’ the box with a skull on it to get 990 GP! Follow the path up the stairs in the opposite end that you entered. You see two places to enter there. Take the upper one first. Walk down the stairs and under the ‘bridge’ (you know what I mean?). Open the treasure chest to get a FenixDown. When you have gotten that take the same way out as you got in. Easy, huh? Now enter the down most door. Walk down the stairs and the in the water walk down a second stair leading to a place beneath your current location. See the treasure chest? Open it to get a Potion.

Walk up and enter the next room. You see a sequence and you rest, and then you can carry on. You are close to the end. Woo-hoo! Walk up were you saw Lenna go a while ago. Save and walk up the stairs. Go over the pole and walk down. Don’t worry about the water. You won’t drown. Walk until you get to a large ship part. Jump over to it. Go in the door and pick up the map. You now got the world map, which on the world map you can access by pressing Y. Now walk down the stairs on the opposite from were you entered and open all the treasure chests. They contain one FenixDown and two Antidotes. Go back till the big ship part.

Jump on the turtle shells on the right side of the ship and open the fake treasure chest to reveal a whole ship. Walk up. When you step on the turtle shells the game will take over and you will have to fight Siren.

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Boss: Siren
HP:
Difficulty Level: **
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

This boss is quite easy. Just attack normally. Magic will not do any damage on Siren. Only when she changes to an undead you can damage Siren with magic. Since undead takes damage from healing, use Cure on Siren with your white Wizard. Now you can use magic with your Black Wizard’s magic too. But with the two last people just attack normally. Siren will soon go down. And then you can get on with your journey.

Walk up until you see the opening. Walk trough it, and get outside to the world map. Watch out, because the enemies is powerful, but you should be okay. Walk south until you see a town. And then you enter it.

You can now level up outside that town. Since the Inn cost only is 10 GP, you can rest often. After a while you can go back up till the graveyard and level up a bit and get some Elixirs.
