Dr. Wily designed Edonil as a prototype maverick, not unlike Zero. During the first phases of building Edonil, Wily's lab was destroyed by Megaman and he was forced to give up on the Edonil project and created Forte. Sigma found the ruins during one of his missions as a Maverick Hunter and took the parts to Headquarters where they built Edonil, their intentions being to train him as a Maverick Hunter. But the designs allowed for ease of infection from the Maverick Virus and Edonil turned on the Maverick Hunters during his first mission. Since then he has learned to control himself and his actions, but is still tainted by the virus. He sees all uncontrolled mavericks as inferior and has some respect for the Maverick Hunters as they are there to destroy the inferior robots.
