Her Own Words
I always thought I was just your normal, average, every day girl. Well, except for the fact that I have the highest IQ in America. Nobody understood why I was so smart; how I could finish a thirty-five chapter book in a little under three hours, or how I could measure something exactly by just looking at it. No one understood. I remember when I was a baby, I was thrown over a bridge and into a very cold river. A baby isn't suppose to remember things like that, are they? Well, I did. I also remember a very beautiful woman taking me out of the river and saying, 'David, it's a baby!'. It was a young couple who had been visiting Germany; my birth place they told me. They adopted me and I became Katarina Victoria Black. When I was growing up, there were always strange people who came to our apartment in New York, they seemed to be intrigued and facinated with me and how I could speak clearly at the age of two. My mother said I was walking when I was only nine months old. But, the strange people were always the same. Black suits, like my daddy wore to work all the time, a striped tie, and sunglasses. When I was ten or eleven, they stopped coming and my family was glad. But, once they stopped coming, that's when all the weird stuff started to happen. At school, there would be people watching me. Not the students, but the teachers. At first I thought it was because I was a child genius and they were only looking out for my well being but then....then they started asking me odd questions. Like, where I would hang out, what my friends were like. It went on for a few years until I was fifteen. That was when I had done it....I had mapped the human gene. I never told anyone except my mom and dad. They knew how special I was...they wanted to protect me. After I had ran tests and expiramented, I found that rats weren't sufficent enough. I needed a human test subject. I figured, why not myself? But when I had looked at my DNA under a microscope, I discovered something. My gene structure had already been altered. I was puzzled but... That still didn't stop me though. I was making a medical breakthrough. I had to continue my research. A few days after I had ran tests and expiraments on myself I noticed a change. Aside from my genius abilities, I could freeze things with a touch of my hand. Well, not exactly freeze, but I could cool down it's tempature to almost sub-zero. Afterwards I noticed a van outside my apartment, watching me and my activities. That's when I did more research and I discovered that I was in fact a genetic expirament for the government sixteen years ago. My birth mother had thrown me over that bridge to keep me safe...but will I be?
