Drifter Gates are large and circular in shape (resembling the gate from Stargate in size and shape). The ring structure itself rests on a platform with stairs leading down to a dias on both sides. When they are active, their interiors are filled with a luminous liquid-like substance (again, just like in Stargate). The liquid's color depends on the gate's location, and each gate has a slightly different appearance. This liquid is only visible when a gate is active, and a gate will only be active if someone is entering Hyrule through it (involuntary activiation), or when being used to move from one gate to another (it won't be known at first that this is possible). The gates deactivate mere minutes after someone has passed through.
-The Forest Gate (Minuet Gate) - This gate is located in the Lost Woods, erected on the Forest Temple warp dias. The gate is covered in ivy and green leaves, with flowers at its base. -Liquid color - Green. -The Fire Gate (Bolero Gate) - This gate is located in Death Mountain Crater, erected on the Fire Temple warp dias. The gate is constantly rimmed with flame, with brimstone and lava pools at its base. -Liquid color - Red. -The Water Gate (Serenade Gate) - This gate is located in Lake Hylia, erected on the Water Temple warp dias. The gate seems to be made of fluid water, that is in constant motion around the circular shape of the gate, but never loses a single drop of water. There are clear water pools at its base. -Liquid color - Blue. -The Shadow Gate (Nocturne Gate) - This gate is located in the Graveyard (behind Kakariko Village), erected on the Shadow Temple warp dias. The gate is made of black stone and is covered in purple thorns, with a thick blanket of fog surrounding its base. -Liquid color - Dark Purple. -The Spirit Gate (Requiem Gate) - This gate is located beyond the Haunted Wasteland near the Desert Colossus, erected on the Spirit Temple warp dias. The gate is made of sandstone, and has an ancient, cracked appearance. There are small swirling columns of sand that spin about its base on ocassion. -Liquid color - Gold -The Time Gate - (I would ask that no characters come from this gate. This may be the gate I bring the story's main villian in through.) This gate is located within the still-standing Temple of Time, erected on its warp gate. The gate is made of gold and silver, radiating a soothing light and surrounded by silk floor coverings at its base. It is said that this gate leads to the Sacred Realm, but no one can seem to figure out how to activate it. -Liquid color - White. -The Storm Gate - This gate is located upon the ruins of Lon Lon Ranch in the middle of Hyrule Field, and is the fist gate to not have been erected on a warp dias. The gate is made of a stormy blue crystal, constantly crackling with electric energy, with a thick layer of moist fog at its base. It is common for random thunderstorms to erupt over the gate, sending lightning into the sky and thunder rumbling across Hyrule Field. -Liquid color - Stormy gray-blue. -The Ice Gate - This gate is located deep within the Ice Cavern, and is the second gate to not have been erected on a warp dias. The gate is made of ice (what else?), constantly crackling as if about to break apart from its own sheer cold. A thick blanket of snow lay at its base, and it is common for snow to fall at any time. Temperatures are known to drop quite suddenly, and the winds which surround the gate are icy. -Liquid color - Icy blue. -The Swamp Gate - This gate is located deep within the Nameless Swamp, erected on the never-before discovered Swamp Temple warp dias. The gate is made of gray stone that is entangled in woody vines. These vines grow small dark green buds which constantly emit a noxious fog. A mirky bog surrounds its base, and it is common for snakes and other swamp creatures to call the vines of the gate home. Conditions are very humid in this area, and a semi-poisonous cloud always seems to hang in the air. Strong anti-poison charms are needed to traverse the great swamp. -Liquid color - Yellowish green. -A Drifter's world does not always determine which gate he or she enters through. The Drifter's magickal/elemental powers could also play a role, or the Drifter's personality traits. For example, those with fiery personalities, or those quick to temper, might come through the Fire Gate. Those who can manipulate water might come through the Water Gate. Everyone is brought to Hyrule for a different reason, it is up to them to discover why. |
