Wolfriders
The wolfrider's live in the forest with their wolves. The wolves are twice the size of Earth wolves, easily big enough for the elves to ride on.
They come in all the normal wolf colors. Eyes are usually blue, green, or gold, though rare cases of black and silver have been seen, and every now and then a wolf with violet eyes will be born, though this is extremely rare.
As in Earth packs, there is an alpha female and male, and these positions can be challenged for, though only the wolves do the fighting.
Wolves can sometimes come from the wild to claim a human, but they will normally follow you around and deny the Joining for a while. They are also far less trusting and dependable than a pup from a wolfrider pack.
Wolfriders, over time, tend to grow larger canines then the other types. They take mates as well, but when one of the wolf/wolfrider pair has taken a mate, the other member usually mates with his/her partner's mate's other half.
Each pack has a certain power available only for use by the alphas. There is a ceremony when an Alpha is proclaimed and another if the Alpha is defeated. With the power comes a streak of colour through the elf's hair, normally an unusual colour, such as blue or pink.
wolves have two to five pups in a litter. Wolfriders may have children, too, but please just bring a new player in and tell me that he/she is your offspring.
Wolf pups will Join anytime after they are old enough to be outside the den. They don't have to Join at that time, and may not Join until well into their adulthood, but it is said that a wolf who hasn't been Joined can not rest and must return over and over again until the soulmate has been found.
