This is a tiny tale of time concerning war between friends.
Destiny decided to challenge us,
and so we chose to end the world in order to meet our mortality.
There was nothing to regret.

Our hero is back, but in the same fashion?  Nope.  Ryu has done away with the colorful and traditional outfit and has been equipped with some clothing to fit his environment.  Of course, he still keeps the tradition alive by keeping a sword always nearby.  He is also said to be 166 cm tall.

At 16 years of age, Ryu is part of an advanced security group known as "Ranger."  Supposedly, he is assigned to a mission and runs into a mysterious young girl named Nina who is being confronted by an unidentified monster.

Of course, what would a Breath of Fire game be without its usual heroine, Nina?  And like Ryu, she has certainly changed her fashion, too.  She, of course, still retains her wings, but her lineage and background are still unknown.  Nina is much shorter than Ryu, only standing at 143 cm tall.  It is also much to the surprise of most fans to hear that the role of the "silent one" has changed, seeing as how Nina will now be the one who does not talk (but she still understands words).

Nina is younger than Ryu, being only 12 or 13 years old, and she supposedly meets with Ryu after a confrontation with a monster that attacked her.

Also, in the screenshots, she is seen using magic.  It seems that her magical abilities have transferred through from the last games.
