Dark One:
This is the common name given to the dark presence which touches the world from it's home, trapped outside the pattern, though it names itself Shai'tan.
Though neither male nor female by known standards, it is usually referred to as a male, and people fear that to use his given name is to call on his wrath, so other names are used, such as: Father of Lies; Sightblinder; Lord of the Grave; Shepherd of the Night; Heartsbane; Leafblighter; Soulsbane; Heartfang; Old Grim; Grassburner; and, most commonly, The Dark One.
What lures people into his services are the promises of power when he breaks free to remake the world in his design after Tarmon Gai'don - The Last Battle.
