Signaltower
Island - armor set # 1
1 - Ferry landing.
2 - Isle pier.
3,4 - Signaltowers
(three stories each). A trapdoor, not shown in look, leads down
to a celler. The cellar itself leads, through a tunnel, to the cellar of
the opposite tower. In this manner you can travel back and forth between
the towers without crossing the landscape of the island, should you want
to. (Note: at the time of this writing the eastern tower has been locked.
Whether by some deranged locksmith or a GM, I don't know.)
From
the front yard of the Stone Toga Inn (the Stone Toga Mark) go twice north,
three times west and northwest once. This is the Ferry landing. (walk
to toga; Nx2 - Wx3 - NW).
You
should now be at the end of a dock. A post there holds a sign. Read
sign for directions on what to do from here (if the ferry is not there
and you cannot look and see a ramp, just wait around a few minutes
until the ferry returns. When it arrives go ramp to board the ferry.
It will automatically take you to the Signaltower Island, free of charge.)
Once the ferry arrives at the island simply go ramp again to exit
the ferry. You will arrive at the Ferry Landing (the farthest southeastern
point on the map above - #1.)
Besides the angry animals of the island the most dangerous
aspect of hunting on the Signaltower Island is the fact that it takes so
long to get back to town should you find yourself injured and bleeding.
The island itself is small but can a little time to navigate and, believe
it or not, to get lost on. With the possibility of a couple of minutes
to reach the Ferry Landing, up to five minutes for the ferry to arrive,
one minute for the trip and the short walk to the Toga (where we assume
a healer will be waiting) a good bleeding wound could be deadly. Granted,
I have never received such a wound on the island with either of my lower-ranking
characters I would not be willing to discount the possibility. Try to find
out if a healer is on the island when you get there. If not, keep in mind
the travel time and don't allow yourself to get so wounded that you need
medical attention quickly.
The
animals themselves are likely the easiest to kill in all of Iridine. Which
is not to say, necessarily, that they are pushovers. But they are the best
way to train for newbies short of whacking away at that damned boring practice
dummy. Despite the travel time factor, you are probably quite safe hunting
the island even with minimal armor (you'll pardon me if I am overly cautious
in my advice), which I why I only recommend Armor Set #1 for this hunting
trip. To be perfectly honest I have hunted the island with lower-ranking
characters wearing nothing but the basic leather clothing from Venina's
and never received serious wounds (though I have left bloody and weak).
Fluvitar Pup
No saleable parts
The
weakest creature on the island they are also the quickest to wear out and
attempt to retreat. Regardless, they are harder to hit than Rock Crabs
and can easily leave you with a good bite to remember them by.
Rock
Crab
No saleable parts
The
easiest creature on the island to hit and can take more damage than the
either of the other two creatures. On top of that they are the slowest
to wear out and retreat. As such, when you have a choice at all, the Rock
Crab would be your best choice of target.
Angry
Gull
No saleable parts
The
hardest creature to hit, as they are airborne, and thus likely the most
dangerous on the island.

isle creatures!
