Final Fantasy VIII

This part in the Final Fantasy series takes a step in a different direction. Usually FF games focus on a final tale of a planet in peril. FFVIII has this also, but focuses more on the theme of love. Squall Leonheart, the hero of the game is a member of SeeD. This is a group that originally formed to combat sorceresses, but is now just a mercenary force. SeeD candidates train in Garden facilities. Seifer, the childhood rival of Squall is beaten by him in the SeeD test, leaving him behind Squall in the ranks. Squall, Zell, and Selphie's (main characters as well as SeeDs) first mission is to help a small rebel group. This is where they meet Rinoa. Soon after Rinoa joins the team as they head out to combat a new threat, Edea, the new sorceress. With the help of Irvine, SeeD's best shooter, they plan to assasinate Edea. This plan fails however and they have to resort to more drastic measures.
