Ah, yes. Final Fantasy 8 inspired all of the fan-fiction on this site.

As with all of the Final Fantasy games made by Squaresoft, it had a theme, which in the case of #8 was Love. (Not quite on the level of the fics here, but that is no matter.)

This was a more realistic game than any FF that had been created before. Each of the characters had motivations to act the way they did and even looked realistic (must to the joy of bishounen-obsessed fangirls everywhere).

Then it occurred to us to continue the epic story on after the game was ended and the last chorus of the game's theme, "Eyes on Me", had been sung. 

Some people chose to write massive dramas. Others, whimsical comedies.
