OVERVIEW: Rescue Paul, Josef's daughter, and the people of Salmando from the Semite Cave. Defeat the Sargeant to obtain the mithril. Take the mithril back to the Queen and gain access to new mithril weapons and armor.

I. To the Semite Cave

-So where is the Semite cave exactly? It's west of Salmando so head in that direction. Before you do make sure that at least Maria has a level two offensive magic spell (be it fire, ice, or bolt). Also, all three of your characters should have cure and have at least 10-15 MP. Maria should have 20-25 MP to make you life a little easier. You'll need the magic against many of the enemies in the cave. Once you're ready, head west until you reach this point. You'll have to head east on the river on your canoe.
-It's a little ways but it's only one path so you can't get lost. Thankfully, there's no random battles on the canoe so you won't have to worry about fighting. If you're not playing on an emulator (which I doubt anyone is) make sure that you save before you head in. Of course if you're playing on an emulator you don't really have to worry about that.

I. Semite Cave- Floor One

-Welcome to the Semite Cave, your first real dungeon of the game. The enemies are fairly easy, but fighting them over and over again starts to wear on you. The boss is also quite difficult. Magic works much better than physical attacks against him. You shouldn't have too many problems though.
-The cave is fairly easy to follow. That is, there are no real confusing parts to it, it's fairly linear. At this intersection head to the left if you want a treasure with 10G, if you're not into wasting your time head right. This will take you to another intersection. Right is a dead end and down is the correct way to go.
-Here right leads you to a treasure chest with 200G, so you'll probably want to head that way first. The path to the left leads you to the stairs to the next level of the cave.
III. Semite Cave- Basement 1

-This is the 2nd basement of the cave. There are 3 treasure chests on this floor. Head northwest first and you'll come to a chest containing an Eyedrop.
-Head due east from the Eyedrop and a little north to come across another treasure containing a potion. Now head down this path to the east. Make sure to pick up the potion along the way.
-At the end of the path is a set of four doors. Seems confusing huh, well it's really not. Especially after I tell you that the 3 east doors all lead to empty rooms. The only way to go is in the westernmost door, it leads down to the next level.
IV. Semite Cave- Basement 2

-This is the 2nd (of 4) basements of the cave. Don't bother heading south, it takes you to a treasure with a mighty 1G! Instead head to the west.
-The bridge leads to this treasure containing 50G and nothing more. If you want it head across it, if not head up to the doors.
-More doors! So which one is it this time? Believe it or not it's the westernmost door once again. Head on in to meet many of the men from Salmando that have been enslaved.
-Besides these men you'll also see Paul, the world's greatest thief, and Josef's daughter. It seems that Borgan was holding her hostage. So who's Borgan...? You'll find out soon enough. He also tells you that the mithril is indeed in the cave, but he couldn't find it. After talking to him everyone in the room vanishes. Head down the stairs.
V. Semite Cave- Basement 3

-On this floor you'll encounter a few more difficult enemies including these slimes. Physical attacks are useless against the slimes so use magic on them. Make sure that you don't use too much though, you want to save some MP for the upcoming boss.
-The third basement is about the same size as those before it. Head dead north from the entrance to pick up the fire spell. Make sure that you get it it's a useful spell.
-Walk into this platform in the middle of four paths. Take the top path, it's the only non-dead end and it takes you right to the stairs to the next level.
-It's quite a walk to the stairs but here they are. Take them down to the fourth and final basement floor.
VI. Semite Cave- Basement 4

-This is the final floor of the cave. You have a choice to make, you can take the bridge or head north. The bridge leads you to a chest with an exit spell (1500 Gil spell). Or you can head straight to the boss, to the north. The exit spell can transport you straight from the cave, but it's being guarded by a difficult foe. It's your choice but I HIGHLY recommend going to get the exit spell.
-It's quite a walk around to get to this chest. (Pass up the door it's simply an empty room.) Save the game and then open the chest and you'll pick up the exit spell, but it's not yours yet. You're attacked by a monster.
-The LandTrtl is a fairly difficult foe. He has 140 HP and the ability to deal some lethal blows to members of your party. To defeat use magic, especially ice. Ice will deliver a massive blow to the LandTrtl, use it and your other magic to take him down and claim the exit spell. This is why I said that you need magic, the more MP you saved the better, physical attacks won't do much. Use Minh to heal throughout the battle and keep everyone alive.
-Now head back to the point where you had to decide whether to take the bridge or to head north. This time head north and at this point take the left door instead of the right. The right is simply an empty room while the left door leads to the boss and the mithril.
-A sargeant is waiting for you inside of the room and wants the mithril for himself. Make sure that your HP is full and that you have plenty of MP. If you need to use the ether that Minh is carrying on one of your party members do so before the fight. If your weapons and power are fairly high then you'll be able to drill the Sargeant with physical attacks, but they probably aren't. Therefore stick to magic.

-The sargeant is no pushover. Pummel him with your best magic from the get go. Fire/Ice/Bolt all work well. If any of your characters get low on HP have Minh heal them. His cure spell will fully heal any of your characters. Physical attacks may or may not do damage depending on your power and weapon level. I was at level 3 weapons and I did little to no damage with all my characters, I stuck to magic. There's also a chance that he'll drop some mithril equipment after defeat.
-After defeating the Sargeant pick up the mithril from the treasure chest. After this use exit to exit the cave. Make sure that you heal the user of exit as they will lose quite a bit of HP. Note: If you don't have or didn't get exit you'll either have to go get it from the other end of the 4th basement of the cave or climb all the way back to the top. When you're out return to Salmando to see Josef.
VII. The mithril

-In Salmando Josef thanks you deeply for saving his daughter and apologizes for being rude. Ask him about the warship and he'll give you a much more in-depth answer. He tells you about the dark knight and how he's speeding up the building process of the warship, make a note of that.
-Show him the mithril and he'll tell you to take it back to Hilda in Altea immediately. Sounds like a good idea. The walk back is LONG and fighting hornets and goblins over and over again doesn't help your cause any. You might want to buy some magic that you missed on your way back with your new money. Picking up a life spell in Salmando isn't a bad idea. Also some cure/ice/fire/bolt spells in Altea are nice too. DO NOT BUY ANY WEAPONS OR ARMOR WITH YOUR NEW MONEY! You will have some new shops to shop at soon.
-Back in Altea you can get an interesting comment out of Gordon if you show him the mithril. Not necessary it's just something you can do.
-Show the mithril to Hilda and she'll tell you to take it to Tobul as quickly as possible, so do so.
-Tobul is the old man in the weapons shop. Show him the mithril and he'll start making some new equipment right away. Now there's an extra set of mithril equipment at both the weapon and armor shops in Altea, and in the weapon shops of Palm and Poft.

Altea- New Equipment

Weapons
Armor
Mith. Knife- 800 Mith. Shield- 500
Mith. Cane- 1500 Mith. Helmet- 300
Mith. Javelin- 1500 Mith. Armor- 1000
Mith. Sword- 1800 Mith. Gaunt.- 800

Palm/Poft- New Equipment

Weapons
Mith. Javelin- 1500
Mith. Sword- 1800
Mith. Axe- 2000
Mith. Bow- 1000

-Buy as much as you can with your new found cash. I would put mithril armor on the top of your list. If you haven't bought new weapons from the start then pick up new mithril weapons. If you have just stick with the ones you have, it's not worth the money. Pick up mithril helmets next, and if you still have money pick up a couple shields. Make sure that you buy nothing for Minh and that you sell all of your old equipment, then head back to see the queen.
-Hilda tells you that a dark knight has recently joined the Empire but was called back to Paramekia. This must be the same dark knight that Josef was talking about. He was also the one standing in the middle of Bofsk at your last visit. Now he's not there anymore.
-Apparently, he was in charge of the charge of the construction of the warship as well. Hilda asks you to either destroy the warship or to delay its completion as much as possible. You don't have much of a choice, it's time to head back to Bofsk.
