Once you reach Marsh Cave you might want to save the game by using a TENT before heading down. The enemies in the cave are the hardest that you've fought in the game so far, and they have a few tricks up their sleeves.
When you first enter the cave you'll notice that there's a fork in the road. The top path is a room that contains only treasure and a dead end. The bottom path is the one you have to take. If you want the treasure head up, and if you don't head down.
If you do go up, you'll eventually come to this room. Make sure you don't miss any of the treasure in the room. Don't waste any time because your HP will slowly start to fade away as you fight more and more random battles.
Head to the room to the northeast first. It contains a large sword. Then head to the room left of this one where you'll find a chest containing 680G, then in the room under that you'll find a short sword and 620 more G. Then head on back to the beginning. Take the lower path at the fork this time.
Once on the bottom path, you'll come to yet another fork in the road. This time the choice is easy. The path to the right is a dead end and the down path continues you on your way, go down.
At the end of the road there's some stairs, take them. At the bottom of the stairs, there's a ton of rooms. Many of them have treasure and some do not. The stairs are in the southeast corner of the floor if you just feel like going down.
The room directly to the right of the start has an empty treasure chest, so forget that. The room under that one has a short sword. The room to the left of that room also contains an empty treasure chest and the one to the left of that one contains 680G. After collecting, head to the stairs in the southeast corner.
At the bottom of the stairs you'll notice that the next floor is enormous. There are 16 seperate rooms, 4 rows of 4 rooms. In the very first room there's an iron armor. Heading right the next two rooms are empty and the last one in that row has 295G if you need the money.
Heading down from the room with 295G the room directly under is empty. The one to the left of that one is also empty, the one to the left of that has a HOUSE, and the one to the left of that one has a copper bracelet. The room directly under that one is empty, skip the one to the right of that one, then collect the 385G in the one to the right of the room I told you to skip. The bottom 4 rooms are locked by the mystic key so don't worry about them for now.
Now go back to the room that I told you to skip. Inside the room there's a chest guarded by wizards that you'll have to fight. You can fight between 2-5 wizards, it's completely random. When fighting them use LIT2, if you have some left. If you don't just fight them with your fighters and use the best magic that you have. You shouldn't have many problems.

-If you are still alive at this point you're probably pretty close to dead. Unfortunately there's no easy way out, you have to walk all the way back to Elfland. Run away from battles if you have to. If you didn't take enough PURE's you've found out by now. When you reach Elfland heal yourself, it's time to head back to the Northwest Castle.

Head back to the northwest castle where you're in for a suprise. The king is actually Astos himself in disguise. He also mentions that he (for no apparant reason) has the CRYSTAL and that he wants the crown back. He'll attack you, make sure you're ready for a battle.
Astos isn't very hard, he always uses RUB at the beginning of the battle that can instantly knock out one of your characters. Watch for this. Physical attacks work decently against Astos, but magic will do the real damage. Use your stronger spells against Astos and you should have no real problems. Check my Bosses section for more info on Astos.
Now that you have the crystal it's time to tie up some loose ends. You're going to have to make a trip back to Matoya's. You may also want to make a trip to Elfland to pick up some level 4 magic that you couldn't afford before with the money you've picked up.

-It's now time to tie up some loose ends, remember all of the mystic key doors that we've left behind?
