The Nuon System

Back in the old age of 1998 VM Labs (maker of nuon) introduced something they called 'project X'. they said that their goal was to bring gaming to the mass-market. Nuon brought us a DVD player with nuon enhancements and a video game capabilities. right now there are two nuon enhanced DVD players on the market. The gaming on the nuon systems is not meant to compete with ps2 and other next-gen consoles but just to get DVD players something else and try to bring gaming to the mass market. The graphics for the nuno enhanced DVD players aren't that great but are about as good as an N64. The controller isn't the best either, it feels like a cheap pc controller and can't get near what other console controllers are but works good with some of the games.

Xbox

This new green console machine is possibly the next thing in console gaming. So why is it green? Horace Luke who crafted the look of the Xbox said "The Xbox is green because that's the only marker I had with me when I started sketching my designs." The people that are making the Xbox want to give the gamers what they want, including 9 foot cables for the controllers, recording your own sound tracks onto the game, and a controller that is easily used.

Sega's future plans

Sega's great with making games, but not so great at selling their consoles. In Japan, the dreamcast was a flop. Now Sega is planning to stop their hardware sales and focus on the software only. Sega plans to develop a new business strategy, to become the world's leading network game servie by the year 2003. Sega hopes that at that time they will have the company split into 3 parts.
1.online network video game content
2.narrow and broadband electronic services to the online community.
3.location based entertainment centers featuring sega's unique content.

Sega may possibly be making games for other systems now , although nobody is said for sure, I think many people(including me) would love this. Sega doesn't however, want to help out other consoles in their sales alot, so they would start making games for other consoles that are older. They are evaulating making games for other platforms and said that some of the platforms that they are considering aren't avialable yet. But for now they made it clear that they are still focusing on the dc and that games for other platforms are a plan of the future.
But even after dreamcast goes down, sega won't give up on it, they have anounced plans for a dreamcast chip that you could buy to be on other consoles so that those consoles would play dreamcast games.

GameCube

The GameCube is what nintendo has made to compete for this comsole wars. they say that the Gamecube focuses on gameplay and will be the ultimate TV game machine an the first of its kind. Their goal? to realize the highest level of hardware performance while at the same time enhancing productivity of the software development. they want to create a developer friendly machine, they certainly learned their lesson after that N64 mess. they promise to bring all the superior capabilities that are expected of nintendo.
