t the age of 16, her father's lands were ravaged by famine, all of the livestock died, and farmlands reduced to ruin. Marinda's father was soon forced to release his servants, and before long, was destitute. As a result, Marinda's father was unable to pay his taxes to the ruthless and uncaring King Alchamais. In exchange for his Life, Marinda was promised to the King...and soon, she become the next addition to the King's harem.
arinda went reluctantly to live in the kings palace. For the most part, she was kept locked away in the castle with the other women, given the periless task of sewing and weaving all day. And, although she was well provided for, she felt very unhappy and unloved. Lord Alchamais was cruel in heart and often cold towards Marinda, yet she did as told and obeyed his every wish. Even when the King selected Marinda, his most beautiful maiden, to be his next wife, she was unable to refuse.
ne fateful summer's eve during a formal dinner, was when Marinda first layed eyes on a handsome young knight by the name of Valor, who was of the sacred order of the Dragon (Dracul). For the both of them it was Love at first sight. As they sat there in the company of hundreds, amidst the music and entertainment of the court, their eyes stayed locked on one another's all night. For them, it was as though they were there all alone...seeing and hearing noone else. Valor's raven black eyes seemed to hold her captive in his gaze..and likewise, Marinda's emerald eyes shined into his like precious jewels...mesmerizing.
hen a neighboring army of pagans invaded the kingdom, Lord Alchamais sent forth all of his knights to war...among them, was Valor Dracul. This war lasted for many weeks. straining Marinda's heart, longing for the day her knight would return to her... yet she had to be strong for him. She waited patiently day by lonely day awaiting some news of Valor's fate.
ntil one day, the King was murdered by an unseen hand, and an arrow shot into the castle window, carrying a note from the invading armies, reporting that all of the King's armies had been slaughtered. It was at that moment that her heart broke, her reason for living, her beloved, was gone. Feeling as if she had nothing left to live for, Lady Marinda ran into the church. Falling to her knees before the alter, she prayed for forgiveness for what she was about to do. With tears streaming down her face, she reached into the folds of her dress, retrieving a dagger, then taking her own Life. As the last breath left her sweet lungs, Valor and what was left of the King's army rode in victoriously, to the court.
alor soon learned of the King's death, and ran with lightning speed to find his Lady...for with the King now dead, they were finally free to be together. Valor found Marinda lying in the church...in a pool of her own blood. His face wrought with anger and sadness, he lifted her into his arms... holding her lifeless body close to his, his own tears falling gently upon her paling flesh. Valor looked deep within her still brilliant orbs of perfect emeralds, swearing that it would not end this way. He sealed his promise as he leaned down to lay a loving kiss upon her cold, sweet Lips.
priest came to Valor's side, telling him to let her go...that there was no hope for her...and that her soul was damned, for taking her own Life. And, that she had defied God. Valor looked up at the alter before him, and screamed out in pain and agony to the very God and church he had devoted his Life for. In the face of the priest, he renounced the church and all its meaning. Valor pulled the dagger from Marinda's chest, slamming it into the heart of the priest...as he did so, the priest dropped the golden chalice, used in the giving of the holy sacrament. Valor filled the chalice with the blood of the priest, as he lay there dying...and drank.
rom that day forth, Knight Valor became known as Vlar de Dracul...a name which inspired fear. Very quickly, he took over the kingdom without a King. Vlar rebuked the holy church, turning to the dark side, growing mad as he gave himself freely to it; and began to study the forbidden pagan sciences of alchemy. It was said among the commoners that the kingdom became cursed. Rumor had it that Vlar sustained his Life through the ritual of blood drinking, an act seen as the work of the devil; doomed to a Life of immortality. Perhaps, he had become the devil.
lar lived within his castle for centuries, calling maidens from around the Land before him one by one. He was convinced that since Marinda took her own Life, that she had died before her time...and thus, her soul would one day return. Seeking the one he loved so long ago, he had many women, yet none could take the place of his beloved Marinda..
uch time passed, and Vlar grew weary of waiting...the villagers had become hostile, and made several attempts to raid him from his castle...and so, Vlar left the cursed kingdom behind him. He ventured to a nearby Land called Tyran's Cove...a Land filled with like-minded souls, and kindred spirits. It was a Land of evil, filled with shadowy blood drinkers, called "vampyres", embedded in a rich culture of "clans". This majikal place was headed by Lord Shaytan and Lady Gabriela of Manor. Vlar went onto form the clan of "The Q", and lived out a very long and eventful Life...with a few hitches in it... See: The Rest of his Story or Visit The Q Memorial.
enturies later, Vlar came to be washed ashore the Cove...leaving him with the absence of most of his memory... returning him to something more like the noble Knight he once was in his mortality. He retook the name Valor, and put "Vlar" away in his past, for good. Yet, the haunting memory of his beloved could not be washed away so easily.
hen Sariah became of age, Lord Shaitan Lovingly embraced her, giving her a new Life, a power she had never dreamed of having, and a strength she could could not conceiveably possess. As time went on, she was taught the ways of combat...and later, majik. As well as affairs of state. She was, after all, the future Lady of the Manor. See: More about zXSariah
ne majikal eve, this fearless princess met a vampir who would forever change her Life. His name was Valor Dracul. She began to spend time with him... and before long, fell in Love. When their eyes met for the first time, it was just as it was all those centuries ago...she was lost in Love with him, a feeling, the kind of which she had never felt for another. There was something so very familar about him. As though they had known one another all their lives...some mystical star-crossed connection.
t was not long before Valor met with Sariah's Father, and was welcomed into Manor...Lord Shaitan decorated him with the honorable title of "Guardian of Manor", charging him with guarding his daughter's Life. This was a duty and a gift he eagerly accepted, and enjoys. And, so...at last these two souls have been reunited once again, being given a second chance to live "happily ever after". For, not even the open arms of death could keep them apart.
nd so, their Story Continues...
