TRUE LIVE THE MASSIVELY POPULAR ROCK BAND LIVE has every reason to live it up right now. The foursome from York, Penn., is in the middle of the second leg of its massively successful tour supporting its third massively successful album, Secret Samadhi, and the single "Turn My Head" has just gone platinum. We caught up with the band's ruddy and handsome bass player, Patrick Dahlheimer, to find out his thoughts on love on the road, groupies and onstage cross-dressing.

Swoon Magazine: Introduce yourself.

Patrick Dahlheimer: Well, I'm a Gemini. I'm 26....

SM: And you're the only unmarried band member?

PD: Ummmmm, yeah, that would be me.

SM: But you've got a girlfriend, right?

PD: Ummmmm, yeah.

SM: How do you maintain the relationship while touring?

PD: Pretty big phone bills, that's about it. Touring is the only thing I've known for the past few years, but I'm comfortable with it. I still get tired and there are plenty of people I'd like to see -- my friends, my girlfriend, my parents, my grandparents. But really, don't pity me.

SM: You've been around the world a couple of times. What's the most romantic location you'd like to visit again?

PD: Probably sitting on one of the Florida Keys -- probably not Key West, though. I don't know, I've been to a few different Keys, and beyond going to a different country, that's a very sensual place.

SM: Where do you draw the line with fans?

PD: I think it's great to have someone chat for a while or get an autograph, but when people start to track you down, find your address start mailing you things, saying stuff to your mom.... Someone had been calling my mom saying that he wrote [Live's previous album] Throwing Copper, and felt that her son was a thief. Now, there's a line that can agitate me.

SM: In the Live on tour section of the Live Web site, there's a great photo of you just jammin' away with a slingshot bra resting at your feet. Fan airmail?

PD: Bra? Whoa, I'd better check that one out.

SM: More on women's apparel -- another tour diary photo of you shows you wearing a wraparound skirt at the St. Louis show.

PD: It was Jill's from [opening band] Lucious Jackson. We were just sitting in the dressing room, saying, 'Man, there's just nothing to wear.' Somehow the subject of skirts came up, and she thought she had a skirt that would fit me. Those are my sandals, though. I travel with sandals.
