Mamascatch Communications

Background Context

I had no business background and for most of my time in business, I had to learn the procedures on my own. I chose to use a business as a platform for conducting my "quest", and decided that an incorporated entity would be the best framework for my purposes.

Approach Used

Autodidactic learning of business procedures on the run, particularly using an incorporated framework, with no background is like learning to swim in the Nahani River gorge if full flood blindfolded.

I read everything I could find, asked resource people such as there were, pleaded ignorance, and groped my way.

After ending a sting as a middle manager in an outside company, I went back to University to take a Business Administration degree. I spent much of the time thinking "yes, that's true", "I found that out the hard way" and "it cost me x dollars to learn that one".

The company was re-activated in order t carry out the White Bear Media Project.

Current Status

The company is on hold until direction is settled on after the end of my MRD degree.

Findings To Date

One author described small business as "When it goes well, it is sheer ecstasy, but when it goes poorly it'll make you wish you died as a baby." He had obviously been there. The learning curve was steep, and the costs high but it had some very satisfying moments. It was this experience which now informs my Kids in the Judas Economy project.

Lateral Connections

Required for Completion

Regularizing the company, adjusting the format, and ascertaining whether or not continuation of this platform would be the best way to proceed.
  • Perhaps the Business Development Course would be of assistance both in terms of evaluation of the overall experience and extrapolating the learning's for the benefit of others.

There are many more resources out there (e.g. on the net) now, so what I learned here is perhaps superfluous except as it informs my "Judas Economy" and "Church in the Ag-Ec crisis" work.
