Quest for the Missing Piece of Information: Protestant Church Renewal
Background Context
After encountering an undefined "missing piece" in the then extant approaches to Canadian Protestant Church renewal at the end of the period 1975-78, I embarked on a quest for that information, outside the economic support of the Church structures, which lasted for sixteen years.
Approach Used
- Working outside of the financial support of the institutional Church, attempted to
- identify the "missing piece" in current approaches to church renewal,
- and a rule-set which would make for the successful implementation of that paradigm, in contemporary Protestant Churches.
- Formed a communications company to generate income and provide an operational base for my research and development work.
- Worked in a variety of other operating platforms, all the while being alert for the above information.
- once the missing piece was found, developed the rule-set for its implementation indirectly in a variety of other contexts, testing components wherever possible.
- carried out preliminary field trials of the full conceptual mix with a variety of clergy.
Current Status
- The "missing piece" was found, amongst the basic premises of academic advising philosophy and approach
- Subsequent pieces were added to the paradigm rule-set
- The various components have been field tested, some quite extensively
- The overall rule-set is ready to be put to full field trials.
Findings To Date
- The missing piece in the church renewal paradigm
- A method of circumventing this identified aspect
- A model for articulating a related split in the Protestant churches
- A method for resolving this historic split
- A number of related program components which serve to empower individuals
Lateral Connections
Required for Completion
- implimentation and dissemination of the concepts in some way.
- recoup of research and development costs.
