Bootlegs
One of the things that marks Prince as an extraordinary artist is the
fact that he produces too much material for the "normal" market to
handle. Warner Brothers limits the official releases to about one
per year, and then only grudgingly, it seems. Much of the other material
that supposedly goes into "The Vault" (a legendary hoard of 500
unreleased songs) often escapes onto the black market. How it escapes
we don't know. Prince himself verbalizes a stance against bootlegs, but
he's also said that "music should be free".
